Browns | Harold Fannin Jr. signs rookie deal Fri May 16, 09:50 AM
Cleveland Browns third-round pick TE Harold Fannin Jr. signed his four-year, $6.7 million deal Friday, May 16. Fannin set FBS single-season records for receptions (117) and receiving yards (1,555) by a TE at Bowling Green last season.
Footballguys view: Fannin was a great player in college at Bowling Green, and he showed flashes against great college competition at the Senior Bowl. David Njoku is entrenched as the starter for the 2025 season, but Fannin could be an eventual starter - and star - for the Browns. We like the way he uses his body to box out smaller defenders, and he can turn to run quickly after the catch. |
New York Jets TE Mason Taylor is a 'pro-ready fix' for the Jets' needs at the tight end position, according to Field Yates of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Taylor was one of the most intriguing tight ends in this draft class. He's got an athletic profile that could make him a mismatch no matter if a linebacker or safety is tasked with covering him. Taylor sits atop the depth chart for the Jets with veteran Jeremy Ruckert as the no.2 for the Jets. It would be wise if QB Justin Fields got Taylor the ball early and often. |
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Patrick Murtagh was released on Thursday, May 15.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles TEs Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra are locks to make the 53-man roster, but the team may decide to only keep two on the roster and elevate a tight end from the practice squad when needed, in the opinion of NBC Philadelphia's Reuben Frank.
Footballguys view: It would be an interesting move, considering Goedert's injury history. But as Frank notes, Goedert has never missed a playoff game. He's gotten banged up, but he always comes back. He's never suffered a season-ending injury, and he's always been just as productive when he's come back as before he got hurt. In addition, Goedert has played the 24th-most games by a tight end since 2019, but he's got the fifth-most games with 50 or more yards. He's had 50 or more yards in 44 percent of his games during those six years, and only Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Mark Andrews, T.J. Hockenson, and Darren Waller have reached 50 yards more frequently among tight ends who've played at least 50 games since 2019. That shows how dangerous Goedert is when he can make it onto the field. Goedert is being drafted as TE17 in early best balls. |

Denver Broncos TE Caleb Lohner, the team's seventh-round draft choice, might 'provide early value' in the red zone, in the opinion of ESPN's Jeff Legwold, who notes the former college basketball player that played just 57 snaps of collegiate football has drawn comparisons internally to retired tight end Jimmy Graham, who rose to prominence under current Broncos head coach Sean Payton. All four of Lohner's receptions at Utah went for touchdowns.
Footballguys view: Lohner was the final pick of the Broncos' seven-player NFL draft class last month, a seventh-round selection (No. 241 overall). Lohner played only one season of college football. He had not played the sport since middle school before his 57 total snaps for Utah last season. He had four catches for Utah on nine targets in 2024, albeit with all four receptions resulting in touchdowns. While a red-zone role in a Payton offense is appealing, Lohner has a long way to go before he rises to fantasy relevance. |
Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich says it will be a 'big thing' to 'find different ways' to get TE Tucker Kraft the ball more this season, adding they're looking for Kraft to take the 'next step' in becoming a 'dominant player' at the tight end position.
Footballguys view: With Luke Musgrave slowed by injuries, Kraft took command of the Packers' tight end room in 2024. He led the team in receiving touchdowns with seven, and, as Journal Sentinal staffer Dominique Yates noted, Tucker brought a physical presence to the offense with his blocking ability and yards after catch (team-high 456 yards). Kraft is reasonably priced in early best-ball drafts, going at the tail end of the TE1 range in the 11th round with the 124th pick overall. |

Seattle Seahawks fifth-round draft choice DE Rylie Mills, fifth-round draft choice WR Tory Horton, fifth-round draft choice FB Robbie Ouzts, sixth-round draft choice OG Bryce Cabeldue, seventh-round draft choice RB Damien Martinez, seventh-round draft choice OT Mason Richman and seventh-round draft choice WR Ricky White III signed four-year contracts with the Seahawks Monday, May 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Undrafted free-agent TE Drake Dabney (Texas Christian) signed with the Tennessee Titans Monday, May 12. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived CB Virgil Lemons and S Jerrin Thompson.
Link to storyFree-agent TE Tyler Davis (Packers) will not return to the team for the 2025 season, according to SI.com's Bill Huber. He missed the 2023 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and the 2024 season with a shoulder injury.
Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick of the Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft, Davis has spent the past few seasons with the Packers. At one point, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said of Davis "we might have something here" but injuries have likely ended his pro career. Davis started one game during his career, and he has just eight catches for 61 yards. |

Tennessee Titans fourth-round draft choice TE Gunnar Helm signed a four-year contract with the Titans Saturday, May 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Helm caught 19 passes at Texas over the 2022 and 2023 seasons but broke out with 60 receptions for 786 receiving yards and seven touchdowns during the 2024 campaign. Chig Okonkwo, Josh Whyle, David Martin-Robinson, and Thomas Odukoya are the other tight ends on the 90-man roster in Tennessee. |
Chicago Bears TE Colston Loveland is 'going to catch a million balls,' according to an NFL executive. 'He will be better than Sam LaPorta,' the executive said.
Footballguys view: The 6-5, 245-pound Loveland, who had 56 receptions, including five for TDs, at Michigan last season, is viewed as a key to unlocking the potential of new coach Ben Johnson's offense -- the same offense that helped Sam LaPorta thrive as a rookie when he caught 86 passes and 10 touchdowns in 2023. LaPorta finished as fantasy's TE1 that season. While Loveland sits at TE18 on the Footballguys 2025 Projections, we'll all look for signs that he might play a role in Chicago similar to LaPorta's in Detroit. |
Los Angeles Chargers third-round draft choice DT Jamaree Caldwell, fourth-round draft choice LB Kyle Kennard, fifth-round draft choice WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith, fifth-round draft choice TE Oronde Gadsden II, sixth-round draft choice OG Branson Taylor, sixth-round draft choice S R.J. Mickens and seventh-round draft choice CB Trikweze Bridges signed four-year contracts with the Chargers Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Orande Gadsen II is a player with a freakish athletic skill set. He's a weapon as a tight end, and Gadsen can use a blend of size and speed to make plays. Gadsen will learn behind Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin in his rookie season, but he's got the upside to one day be a starter. |
New Orleans Saints fourth-round draft choice LB Danny Stutsman, fourth-round draft choice CB Quincy Riley, sixth-round draft choice RB Devin Neal, seventh-round draft choice TE Moliki Matavao and seventh-round draft choice DE Fadil Diggs signed four-year contracts with the Saints Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Neal is the type of runner who reminded some in the scouting community of Joe Mixon. He's a late-round pick, so Neal is not a given for the 53-man roster in New Orleans. However, he's got a three-down skill set and could be a starter in the league. That's why we're monitoring him in super deep dynasty formats. |
New York Giants seventh-round draft choice TE Thomas Fidone II signed a four-year contract with the Giants Friday, May 9, worth $4.349 million.
Footballguys view: Fidone is an interesting prospect who plays like a super-sized wide receiver. He's got the physical tools to be a threat down the seam, but he never really played up to his potential in college at Nebraska. |
Houston Texans third-round draft choice WR Jaylin Noel and seventh-round draft choice TE Luke Lachey signed four-year contracts with the Texans Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Noel is a hyper quick receiver who can get open in tight spaces. In addition to what he can do as a slot receiver, Noel should contribute on special teams as a returner. Lachey had a knee injury a few years ago at Iowa, and he would've been a higher draft pick if not for that injury. There's some TJ Hockenson to his game, but he's clearly got to stay healthy and prove himself as a late-round pick. |
Chicago Bears TE Colston Loveland (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, May 9, because he is recovering from shoulder surgery, according to head coach Ben Johnson.
Footballguys view: Loveland's shoulder surgery is going to keep him out of action for the early part of the offseason. When training camp gets here, Loveland should be out there at least in a limited fashion. |
Buffalo Bills third-round pick DE Landon Jackson, fifth-round pick DB Jordan Hancock, fifth-round pick TE Jackson Hawes, sixth-round pick CB Dorian Strong, sixth-round pick OT Chase Lundt and seventh-round pick WR Kaden Prawther signed undisclosed four-year deals Friday, May 7.
Footballguys view: Hawes is a player we will monitor in deep dynasty formats. A former high school linebacker, Hawes was mostly a blocker in college at Yale. He needs to develop as a route runner and we'll see if the Bills want to use him as more than a blocker. Prawther is an outside receiver with good ball skills, but he's not afraid to mix things up in the middle of the field. |
Indianapolis Colts first-round pick TE Tyler Warren signed his four-year, $20.9 million rookie deal Friday, May 9. The deal includes a fifth-year option, is fully guaranteed and includes an $11.88 million signing bonus.
Footballguys view: Warren is an incredibly gifted prospect who can make an impact from day 1 for the Colts. He's a tight end with toughness and run-after-the-catch ability, but he's also an H-back, slot option, and even Wildcat quarterback. Warren can do it all, but he's much more than just a new version of Taysom Hill. No matter who is throwing passes (Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson), they should find Warren as he can get open against all sorts of coverage. |
The Minnesota Vikings signed WR Tai Felton, DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, LB Kobe King and TE Gavin Bartholomew to four-year contract, according to a source.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers third-round draft choice LB Princely Umanmielen, fourth-round draft choice S Lathan Ransom, fifth-round draft choice DT Cam Jackson, fifth-round draft choice TE Mitchell Evans and sixth-round draft choice WR Jimmy Horn Jr. signed four-year contracts with the Panthers Thursday, May 8. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyChicago Bears first-round draft choice TE Colston Loveland signed a four-year contract with the Bears Thursday, May 8, worth $26.64 million. The deal includes a $16.01 million signing bonus as well as a fifth-year option.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers LB Jadeveon Clowney, TE Jordan Matthews and WR Dax Milne were released Thursday, May 8. The team also waived WR T.J. Luther, OG Andrew Raym and DT Jerrod Clark and waived/injured DT Popo Aumavae (undisclosed).
Footballguys view: Clowney is the biggest name here, and it's not a surprise considering there were rumblings he could be cut before the draft. In 14 games last year, Clowney totaled 5.5 sacks and can still get after the passer in a part-time role. Clowney should have no problem getting a job for 2025. |

Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert agreed to a revised deal that includes a $10 million salary (down from $14 million) with $1 million in possible incentives.
Footballguys view: A 2018 second-round pick out of South Dakota State, Goedert was the subject of trade talks this offseason. He's started 76 games for the Eagles, compiling 349 catches for 4,085 yards and 24 touchdowns. He had 42 catches for 496 yards and two scores in 10 games during the regular season in 2024 and led the team in receptions (17) and receiving yards (215) during their Super Bowl run in the postseason. Injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential in Philadelphia. He's missed three or more games in each of the last three seasons. That history and his uncertain future with the club (at least until today) explain Goedert's TE17 Average Draft Position in early Underdog best-ball drafts. |

Denver Broncos seventh-round draft choice TE Caleb Lohner (Utah) reportedly agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract worth $4.309 million - including a $109,488 signing bonus - on Tuesday, May 6.
Link to storyAtlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts is expected to take 'a big jump' in his second year in offensive coordinator Zac Robinson's system.'I'm expecting Kyle to take a big jump. You know, Year 2 of the system. Year 2 of understanding what we're trying to do offensively. All those things that come with it, so expecting a lot of good things from Kyle. He knows what he needs to work on with the details, some of the fundamentals and techniques, the consistency down in and down out, those are things we talk about with him and (tight ends coach Kevin) Koger talks about with him all the time is those finer details and that next level that he can take as a player. So I'm pumped for Kyle, can't wait to get on the field with him and that's going to be a lot of fun to see his growth,' Robinson said.
Footballguys view: We touched on this on Sunday when Robinson's quotes first circulated. Adding to that, we'll remind you that Pitts, who doesn't turn 25 until October, had 68 receptions for 1,026 yards as a rookie. But those numbers remain his career bests after four seasons. He had a career-high four touchdowns last year, but his overall line of 47 catches for 602 yards and the four TDs is hardly much to get excited about, especially for a former No. 4 pick. His yards were 13th among TEs, his catches tied for 21st and his touchdowns tied for 11th. Still, the Falcons picked up his fifth-year option for this season, making it a make-or-break year for Pitts in Atlanta. So whatever the formula is for Pitts to find success with the Falcons, it needs to come this year. Time is running out on the potential. |

Link to storyNew Orleans Saints TE Taysom Hill (knee) is expected to miss an extended period of time because of his knee injury, according to general manager Mickey Loomis.
Footballguys view: Hill tore his ACL in early December last year, and he's been recovering ever since. The Saints have a ton of questions marks on offense in Kellen Moore's first year as head coach. When Hill is healthy, which may be at the halfway point of the 2025 season, he'll once again bring versatility to that side of the team. |
Taysom Hill player page
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said the team has big plans for TE Terrance Ferguson during his rookie season.
Footballguys view: Ferguson with the Rams was one of the most exciting landing spots for any rookie tight end. He has good speed, and during his time with the Oregon Ducks you could see Ferguson as a downfield target. He'll work with Tyler Higbee this season, but Ferguson looks like a future starter - and star - for the Rams in the near future. |
Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts should see a big jump in production this upcoming season because he will be more familiar with the offensive scheme, according to offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.
Footballguys view: That's the message coming from the Falcons this offseason. Earlier this year at the NFL Combine, both Falcons HC Raheem Morris and GM Terry Fontenot said Pitts needs to be â€"the best version of himself†in 2025. Pitts is a frustrating player because the physical talent is there, but his production has been disappointing for a former first-round pick. We'll see if this is the year Pitts puts it all together in a TE-friendly system. |

Seattle Seahawks TE Elijah Arroyo (knee) said the knee injury that limited him during the pre-draft process is no longer bothering him.
Footballguys view: Arroyo is an intriguing prospect with a ton of upside, and that's why the Seahawks selected him at no.50 overall. Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald told reporters that Arroyo is a â€"unique†player, who can â€"run an extensive route tree†both in-line and out wide. Tight ends take some time to develop, but Dynasty GMs should love Arroyo when he's up to speed in the NFL. |
Free-agent TE Ross Dwelley (Falcons) signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, May 2. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: Dwelley spent six seasons with the 49ers before signing with Atlanta last year. He appeared in every game for the Falcons last season and caught one pass for five yards in 105 offensive snaps. He also had one tackle on special teams. In his first 49ers stint, Dwelley had 44 catches for 518 yards and five touchdowns. George Kittle, Luke Farrell, Brayden Willis, Jake Tonges, and Mason Pline are the other 49ers tight ends on the 90-man roster. |

An unidentified NFL team expressed interest in trading for San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle approximately one week before he agreed to terms on a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension, according to a source. The 49ers were reportedly offered a second-round 2025 draft pick in exchange for Kittle.
Footballguys view: This story has been out there for a bit after the draft. The team decided the second-round pick (if the reports are true) that was offered was not enough. While some reported an extension wasn't close, the truth was the 49ers didn't want to let him go. That's why he signed an extension and didn't get dealt. He's a top-tier fantasy tight end, and Kittle could be an even larger part of the offense with Deebo Samuel playing for the Commanders this year. |

The Seattle Seahawks signed undrafted free-agent TE Nick Kallerup (Minnesota) Friday, May 2. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Link to storySan Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $76.4 million earlier this week, but not before an unnamed team offered the 49ers a second-round draft pick during the 2025 NFL Draft.
Footballguys view: A second-round pick would have been a good deal for both sides, but the 49ers wanted to keep Kittle around as a key piece for their offense. Entering his age-32 season, with his new deal Kittle is under contract through 2029. Last year, Kittle finished with 78 catches for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns. That was good for the best tight end mark in standard-scoring leagues, and Kittle has been a top-3 fantasy tight end in ever season but two in his pro career. |
