Texans | Busy offseason for Juice Scruggs Sat Jun 8, 09:24 PM
Houston Texans C Juice Scruggs has been working in the weight room throughout the offseason, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans. 'Juice is looking great,' Ryans said. 'He's been here for most of the offseason. Even before we started our offseason program Juice was here working out with our strength staff. You can see, right, the growth. You can see he's a little stronger, looks better. I'm encouraged where Juice is right now.'

Link to storyTexans | Noah Brown on track for camp Wed Jun 5, 02:56 AM
Houston Texans WR Noah Brown (shoulder) is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Footballguys view: Brown has the physical talent, and we saw last year in two games back-to-back how productive he can be. In Week 9 against the Buccaneers, Brown had six catches for 153 yards and one touchdown. In Week 10 against the Bengals, Brown had seven catches for 172 yards. He's a big-play weapon, and that's why the Texans brought him back on a one-year contract. Brown is down the depth chart, even further with the addition of Stefon Diggs. He's competing with Robert Woods and John Metchie for the no.4 spot on the depth chart in Houston. |

Link to storyTexans | Nico Collins Agrees To Three-Year Contract Extension Tue May 28, 06:00 PM
The Texans have agreed to a contract extension with WR Nico Collins, per league sources. The new three-year deal will pay him around $24 million per year.
Footballguys view: ESPN's Adam Schefter added to Dianna Russini's initial report by noting it's a $72.75 million extension with a maximum value of $75 million, including $52 million guaranteed. Even with the Texans acquiring Stefon Diggs in a trade with Buffalo, Collins remains our top fantasy option in Houston. He's at WR20 with Diggs at WR26 and Tank Dell at WR27. Houston Chronicle beat writer Jonathan Alexander told us over the weekend this is the pecking order he envisions for this receiving corps as well. |
Texans | Nico Collins nearing lucrative extension Tue May 28, 04:48 PM
Houston Texans WR Nico Collins reportedly agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $72.75 million - including $52 million guaranteed - on Tuesday, May 28. The deal could max out at $75 million through incentives.

Link to storyTexans | Dameon Pierce will have a solid role Mon May 27, 11:45 AM
Houston Texans RB Dameon Pierce will be part of a 'one-two punch' with RB Joe Mixon, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans. 'What I have seen from Dameon this offseason is a guy who has put in the work,' Ryans said. 'I see Dameon having a very clear head space as we are out working, and I think that will allow him to have a really productive year this year. He has everything it takes to be a really good running back for us, and I think him and Joe as a one-two punch would be very beneficial for us all.'
Footballguys view: In a conversation on Saturday, Chronicle beat writer Jonathan Alexander told us the Texans have the "utmost confidence" in Mixon as their lead back. The three-year extension worth up to $27 million Mixon received upon arrival in Houston reflects that. Alexander also explained the scheme Houston ran in 2022 was better suited to Pierce's style of play, as demonstrated by his 4.3 yards per carry average. Last year, Pierce's average dropped to 2.9 per carry, in part because he didn't run with the patience necessary to succeed in new OC Bobby Slowik's scheme. While Pierce could improve in that department, fantasy managers shouldn't read much into Ryans' positive comments. |
Texans | Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce to see ample playing time Sun May 26, 09:46 AM
Houston Texans RBs Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce are both expected to receive plenty of offensive snaps in 2024, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans, although Mixon is likely to be the starter and receive the majority of the carries.
Footballguys view: Mixon was added this offseason to bring a steady presence to the backfield. He can live between the tackles, and Mixon's hard-charging style can help open things up for QB CJ Stroud and the passing game. Pierce was not good last year at 2.9 YPC, so perhaps a reserve/backup role is best for him. |
Texans | Tank Dell on the field Tuesday Wed May 22, 10:53 AM
Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (leg) participated in the voluntary workout Tuesday, May 21.
Footballguys view: Dell (leg) is going through a speedy recovery from the gunshot wound that went through his leg. He's back to running full speed, and it's not really a surprise that he's out there during voluntary OTAs. Dell is a WR2/flex option for your fantasy team this season on a Texans' offense we're excited to collect pieces from. |
Texans | Tim Boyle dealing with minor injury Tue May 21, 06:53 PM
Houston Texans QB Tim Boyle (finger) injured his finger during the voluntary workout Monday, May 20, and is expected to be sidelined for about a week, according to a source.
Link to storyTexans | Tank Dell progressing well Sun May 19, 09:50 AM
Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (leg) is going through a speedy recovery from the gunshot wound that went through his leg, according to sources Saturday, May 18.
Footballguys view: Do yourself a favor and find the videos of Dell sprinting down the field in recent videos posted to social networking sites. Dell looks awesome! Now, that's running in a straight line in May, but we have a strong feeling Dell will be able to showcase his talent in practice this offseason. The Texans may limit him in OTAs and minicamp, but Dell should be good to go for training camp (at the latest). We love Dell as a WR2/flex option who could easily be a regular starter for your fantasy team. |

Link to storyTexans | WR Nico Collins Says Sky Is The Limit For Houston's Offense Mon May 13, 04:58 PM
After winning the AFC South and beating the Browns in the playoffs, the Texans were already heading into the 2024 campaign with higher expectations. The bar was lifted even higher with offseason moves for players like WR Stefon Diggs, RB Joe Mixon, and edge rusher Danielle Hunter. Diggs and Mixon will be joining an offense that hit its stride with QB C.J. Stroud during his rookie season, and WR Nico Collins said this weekend that the unit is going to be a handful for opposing defenses. "Oh yeah, it's going to be dangerous, real dangerous, man," Collins said via Aaron Wilson of KPRC. "The sky is the limit for us."
Footballguys view: Collins isn't wrong. But it will also be challenging to devine the values of the receiving assets as we head into the season. You'll find Collins as WR21 on the Footballguys 2024 Draft Rankings, followed by Diggs at WR25 and Tank Dell at WR27. Collins (WR15) and Diggs (WR17) are going earlier than our rankings in current Underdog best-ball drafts. Dell's WR27 Average Draft Position aligns with our ranking. Can all three deliver fantasy WR2 to WR3 production? The offense living up to Collins' advance billing would be a step in the right direction. |

Houston Texans fourth-round draft choice TE Cade Stover (Ohio State) reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract worth $4.758 million - including a $1.189 million signing bonus - on Thursday, May 9.
Footballguys view: Stover can make plays as a receiving weapon, and he's nasty after the catch. We'll see Stover develop behind Dalton Schultz on the Texans' roster. Dynasty GMs should stash Stover on their rosters to wait for the day he gets a chance to start. |
Texans | Ben Skowronek trade update Thu May 9, 02:41 PM
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams WR Ben Skowronek was traded to the Houston Texans for draft-pick swaps in the sixth and seventh rounds in 2026 on Thursday, May 9, according to a source.
Link to storyTexans | Ben Skowronek shipped to Houston Thu May 9, 02:24 PM
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams WR Ben Skowronek was traded to the Houston Texans for an undisclosed return on Thursday, May 9.
Footballguys view: It had been reported earlier that the Rams waived Skowronek. Instead, Skowronek will go to the Texans as veteran depth. He's no lock for the 53-man roster because Houston's WR room is quite full. |
Texans | Solomon Byrd signs rookie deal Thu May 9, 11:51 AM

Link to storyTexans | McNair Reiterates Tank Dell Will Make A Full Recovery Tue May 7, 04:14 PM
Texans owner Cal McNair said Monday that receiver Tank Dell will make a "full recovery" after he was wounded in a shootout at a Florida restaurant last month. McNair did not provide details on the nature of Dell's injury, but the team called it a "minor wound" the day after the April 27th shooting, which also injured nine others.
Footballguys view: Head coach DeMeco Ryans was cagey when asked about Dell, refusing to directly answer the question when asked if he expected him to be ready for Week 1. "Tank should be fine," he said. When pressed later about whether Dell would miss practice time, Ryans again deflected. "I've answered all that about Tank -- he'll be all right," Ryans said. A positive outcome seems likely, but fantasy managers should continue watching this. Dell had 709 yards receiving and set a franchise rookie record with seven touchdown receptions last season before breaking his left fibula in December. Ryans said in April that Dell had recovered from that injury and would be ready to practice when the team began workouts before he was injured in the shooting. |
Texans | J.J. Watt would play again if Houston needed him Sun May 5, 08:56 AM
Retired DE J.J. Watt recently told Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans that he would be willing to unretire and suit up for the team in 2024 if Ryans 'absolutely needs it.'
Footballguys view: It's fun to think about, but it's not reality (is it?). Watt has continued to stay in playing shape since retiring at the end of the 2022 season but plans to scale back his training regimen in future years. |
Texans | Houston still high on Dameon Pierce Thu May 2, 02:27 PM
Houston Texans RB Dameon Pierce will be 'a big part of what we're doing (in 2024),' according to general manager Nick Caserio during his appearance on Sports Radio 610 on Thursday, May 2.'The big thing right now is to be in good condition - which he is. Watching him move on the field, he looks pretty good. Everybody's looking forward to the opportunity in front of them; you can't worry about what's happened in the past. He's got as good an attitude as anyone on the team. We're glad DP is here. He's going to be a big part of what we're doing. He's working his (butt) off so far, which is great to see,' Caserio told
Footballguys view: Pierce needs to perform better than he did last year (2.9 YPC is terrible). In 2024, the Texans are counting on Joe Mixon to do the heavy lifting in the backfield. We'll see how Pierce works into the mix after that. |
Texans | Tank Dell doing well Thu May 2, 01:09 PM
Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (undisclosed) is 'doing great' in his recovery from a gunshot wound he suffered last week, according to general manager Nick Caserio.
Footballguys view: We're so glad to hear this. Dell was an amazing playmaker for the Texans as a rookie, even though his 2023 season was shortened by injury. With the addition of Stefon Diggs, Dell moves down the pecking order a bit. We still like him as a WR3 with upside for Fantasy GMs in 2024. |
Texans | Houston scoops up British Brooks Tue Apr 30, 01:16 AM
The Houston Texans signed undrafted free-agent RB British Brooks (North Carolina) on Sunday, April 28.
Link to storyTexans | Tank Dell OK after gunshot Sun Apr 28, 04:38 PM
Houston Texans WR Tank Dell was the victim of a gun shot on Saturday, April 27, but the wound was minor and he has been released from the hospital, the team announced.
Footballguys view: Dell was a bystander during a shooting at a private event in Sanford where authorities say a teenage gunman wounded 10 people after an altercation. A Texans spokesperson told ESPN that Dell isn't seriously injured and was released from the hospital and was traveling back to Houston on Sunday. Dell finished his 2023 rookie season with 709 yards and seven touchdowns. But his year was cut short after he suffered a broken leg in an early December game against the Denver Broncos. Last month, HC DeMeco Ryans said Dell was on track with his rehab and was participating in offseason activities, and the coach added that he was excited to have him back. |

Link to storyTexans | Cade Stover drafted by Texans Sat Apr 27, 01:18 PM
Ohio State TE Cade Stover was selected by the Houston Texans with the 123rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Footballguys view: Stover can be a weapon for the Texans. He is not a blocker, but he's got the athleticism to be a matchup problem in space as a receiver. Stover is reliable (no drops in 2023) and can help move the chains. |
