Rice University offensive line coach Sanders Davis was hired as the assistant offensive coach, University of Nevada-Las Vegas safeties coach Adam Hoke was hired as the assistant special teams coach, University of Buffalo defensive line coach/run-game coordinator Adam Morris was hired as the assistant defensive line coach and former New York Jets assistant offensive line coach Ben Wilkerson was tabbed to occupy the same post with Cleveland. In addition, current Browns senior offensive assistant Bill Musgrave was promoted to quarterbacks coach, special teams assistant Stephen Bravo-Brown was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach and offensive assistant/run-game specialist Nick Charlton was promoted to pass-game specialist.

Already with a Hall of Fame resume, getting a ring would cement Garrett as one of the best pass-rushers of all time. The Browns are adamant they are not trading him, but that could just be posturing to drive the price up. |

While it's unlikely Chubb will be the back he was in 2022 (over 1,700 all-purpose yards), he can still be considered a strong part of a rotation. What's the price for that, and do the Browns want to pay it? These are questions to be answered with free agency about a month away. |

| Footballguys view: At the Senior Bowl last week, Browns General Manager Andrew Berry reiterated he has no interest in trading Garrett, the 2023 AP Defensive Player of the Year. While that didn't keep Garrett from asking -- and it won't keep teams from offering, the Browns will have a say in this. The No. 1 pick of the 2017 draft, Garrett is a four-time, first-team All-Pro and is already one of the best players in franchise history. He's recorded 102.5 sacks, becoming the first player in league history to record at least 14.0 sacks in four straight seasons in 2024. Although the Browns finished 3-14, Garrett still led the league with 22 tackles for loss. He also had 28 quarterback hits. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Garrett has two more years on his current contract, which would create significant dead money on the cap for Cleveland. |

He filled both roles at Cal before joining the Browns and has worked with eight other NFL teams since ending his time as a quarterback in the league. Tommy Rees was promoted from tight ends coach to offensive coordinator, and the Browns have yet to find a new coach to fill his former spot. He also coached quarterback Jalen Milroe at Alabama, who's on the radar for the Browns at No. 2 in the NFL draft. It remains to be seen if head coach Kevin Stefanski will take back playcalling duties or turn them over to Rees, who called plays at Alabama and Notre Dame. With Rees having no pro experience at the chore, Stefanski might opt to do it himself for the new starting quarterback. Rees spent much of his first year in Cleveland working alongside 2024 Browns consultant and new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who was first tasked with helping the tight ends. Vrabel later moved over to the offensive line, but given the working relationship, Rees may have drawn interest from Vrabel as Patriots O.C. Stefanski saw to it that didn't happen. |

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson (Achilles) suffered a setback in his recovery from a torn Achilles, which will delay his recovery. It's too early for a timetable, however, according to Browns general manager Andrew Berry.
| Footballguys view: As Profootballtalk.com suggested, the last three years have brought the Browns little return on their investment in Watson, and it doesn't look like Year Four is shaping up to be much better. Berry said that Watson told doctors â€"something didn't feel right†while doing his exit physical on Sunday. â€"We don't have all the details and everything yet, but it will obviously extend the recovery process for him,†Berry said. While Watson's availability for the 2025 season remains unclear, this news should make it all the more urgent for the Browns to line up other options to run their offense. |
