That's not the way football works. It's just not -- in any sense of the fashion. Kevin's been there -- I can' tell how much him and Kellen were talking throughout the game, how much him and Brian were talking throughout the game, how much him and Shane were talking throughout the game.'

Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley rushed 25 times for 57 yards in Super Bowl LIX to set the NFL season rushing record, postseason included, surpassing the mark of 2,476 yards set by Terrell Davis.
Footballguys view: Heading into the matchup, Barkley, named the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year on Thursday, needed only 30 yards to move past Davis' 1998 mark. He did so on the final play of the first half with a 2-yard run. Barkley's 2,447 yards were second all-time in a single season heading into the game, having surpassed Davis' 1997 showing of 2,331 yards in last month's NFC Championship Game win over the Washington Commanders. He became the first player in NFL history to record over 2,500 rushing yards in a season, including the playoffs. Expect Barkley to be in the 1.01 conversation as we head into the 2025 draft season. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was named the the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl LIX. He completed 17 of his 22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interceptions and rushed 11 times for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Footballguys view: Hurts was practically perfect in Super Bowl LIX. He exited the game to applause with 2:52 left and the Eagles holding an insurmountable lead, heading to the sideline with a collection of new records. He became the first player in NFL history to have at least five passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in a single postseason. He also became the first quarterback in a Super Bowl to lead both teams in rushing yards since Steve Young in Super Bowl XXIX. In addition, he broke his own record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a Super Bowl, surpassing the 70 yards he had in Super Bowl LVII. Hurts is now the only quarterback with multiple 50-yard rushing games in the Super Bowl. While there's an argument to be made that Phildelphia's defense was the real key to victory, Hurt's performance -- on a night Saquon Barkley was held to just 57 rushing yards on 25 carries -- put the Eagles well over the top. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passes 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and ran 11 times for 72 yards and a score in a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. RB Saquon Barkley rushed 25 times for 57 yards and caught six passes for 40 yards. WR DeVonta Smith had four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown, and WR A.J. Brown added three grabs for 43 yards and a score. CB Cooper DeJean returned an interception for a touchdown, and DE Josh Sweat had 2.5 of Phildelphia's six sacks.
Footballguys view: While Hurts, whose cell phone screen saver for the past two years has been a photo of him walking off the Super Bowl LVII field in Arizona surrounded by yellow and red confetti after losing to the Chiefs, was absolutely stellar en route to earning Super Bowl MVP honors, the defense shouldn't be overlooked. The Eagles forced three turnovers and held Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense to 275 yards. "This is the ultimate team game. You can't be great without the greatness of others. Great performance by everybody -- offense, defense, special teams," head coach Nick Sirianni said while holding up the Lombardi Trophy. "We didn't really ever care what anyone thought about how we won, or their opinions. All we want to do is win." |

Philadelphia Eagles WR Britain Covey (neck) practiced in full all week but has been ruled out for Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs. OL Nick Gates (groin) was limited in practice for a second straight day on Friday, Feb. 7, and is listed as questionable. DE Brandon Graham (elbow) and TE C.J. Uzomah (abdomen) practiced in full on Friday but are also listed as questionable. WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was limited in practice all week but no longer appears on the injury report. LB Zack Baun (groin), DT Jalen Carter (illness), OG Landon Dickerson (knee), RB Kenneth Gainwell (concussion, knee), TE Dallas Goedert (ankle) and C Cameron Jurgens (back) practiced in full on Friday and have also been removed from the injury report.
Footballguys view: Graham was a hero in the Eagles last Super Bowl victory seven years ago against the Patriots, but it's not clear how big of a role he will be able to play on Sunday. Jalen Hurts knee injury from the divisional round will be a non-issue in the Super Bowl. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley was named The Associated Press' Offensive Player of the Year Thursday, Feb. 6.
Footballguys view: Let's call this the "best offensive player that isn't a quarterback" award. Barkley's true potential was reached in a diverse running game that leveraged the best offensive line in the league into one of the best single season performances by a running back in NFL history. If the Eagles can win Super Bowl LIX, he'll surely be a big reason why. |

Philadelphia Eagles OG Nick Gates (groin), DE Brandon Graham (elbow) and WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) were limited during practice Thursday, Feb. 6. LB Zack Baun (groin), DT Jalen Carter (illness), WR Britain Covey (neck), OG Landon Dickerson (knee), RB Kenneth Gainwell (concussion, knee), TE Dallas Goedert (ankle), C Cameron Jurgens (back) and TE C.J. Uzomah (abdomen) fully participated in practice.
Footballguys view: Smith's status is something to monitor on Friday. He's a speed receiver, one of the best in the league, so a hamstring injury can slow him down a bit. Let's see if he's limited again or a full participant in the final injury report before the Super Bowl. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts averaged a league-high 2.7 seconds in the pocket on his pass attempts in 2024, according to Pro Football Reference.
Footballguys view: Hurts attacks defenses with his arm and his legs. However, most every passing attempt he has from within the pocket is off of play action. In fact, he didn't attempt a non-play action pass from the pocket in his NFL career until late in the 2024 season. Thus, his time before pass and time in pocket times are going to be on the higher end. |

Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell (concussion, knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 31, and is considered questionable for Super Bowl LIX. Philadelphia Eagles DE Brandon Graham (elbow) said he is taking things day-to-day and is not sure if he will be available for Super Bowl LIX.
Footballguys view: Graham was a hero in the Eagles last Super Bowl victory. If he suits and even just plays a snap or two, it could give the defense a lift a la Willis Reed in the 1970 NBA Finals. |

Philadelphia Eagles DT Byron X. Young (hamstring) had his 21-day practice window expire Wednesday, Jan. 29, and will remain on the Reserve/Injured list.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (non-injury), WT A.J. Brown (non-injury), OG Landon Dickerson (knee), RB Kenneth Gainwell (concussion, knee), TE Dallas Goedert (ankle), C Cameron Jurgens (back), DT Moro Ojomo (shoulder), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and OT Brett Toth (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 29. WR Britain Covey (neck) was limited during practice. The Eagles did not hold a practice Wednesday, so the practice report is an estimation.
Footballguys view: The Eagles have a lot of time before they have to be ready to play the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, so this bye-week injury report isn't determinative. That said, Smith's injury bears watching. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Smith was not listed on Philadelphia's report last week. He was on the field for 83 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps in the NFC Championship Game and caught all four targets for 45 yards. Gainwell, who has to work through the concussion protocol, also bears watching. Goedert, Dickerson, and Jurgens also bear watching. Running back Saquon Barkley and receiver A.J. Brown should be non-issues, but we'll follow up as needed. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley was awarded a $250,000 bonus for the Eagles winning the NFC Championship Game, and he could receive another $250,000 if they win the Super Bowl.
Footballguys view: Barkley originally signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles last March after his six-year run with the New York Giants ended. He proceeded to post career numbers as Philadelphia's top offensive weapon, becoming just the ninth player in NFL history to rush for at least 2,000 yards. Barkley ended the 2024 regular season just 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's all-time single-season mark. Barkley was also fantasy's RB1 overall through Week 17 (Jahmyr Gibbs moved past him when Barkley sat out Week 18) and will be a prime candidate to be the No. 1 pick overall in 2025 drafts. |

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles OG Landon Dickerson (knee) was unable to return to the NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders due to a knee injury. His status for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9 is unknown.
Link to storyThe Philadelphia Eagles pounded the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 26, advancing to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. QB Jalen Hurts completed 20-of-28 passes for 246 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while rushing for three scores. RB Saquon Barkley ran 15 times for 118 yards and three scores, as well as a 4-yard catch on two targets, while RB Will Shipley added four runs for 77 yards and a TD. WR A.J. Brown led the way with 96 receiving yards and a score on six grabs and eight targets, while TE Dallas Goedert posted seven receptions for 85 yards on eight targets with two runs for 13 yards. WR DeVonta Smith chipped in with four grabs for 45 yards. LB Zack Baun led the way on defense with game highs of 12 total stops and eight solo tackles, with a fumble recovery and a tackle for loss.
Footballguys view: The Commanders turnovers set up the Eagles with short fields all day and everything clicked for Philadelphia. The offense goes into the Super Bowl on a high note even though Jalen Hurts is nursing some sort of knee injury. Baun's performance on defense was key for a unit that lost his fellow starting linebacker Nakobe Dean to a knee injury in the wild card round. |
