Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Tee Higgins' next contract will likely top $30 million per year, according to a majority of the team personnel that spoke with Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Higgins is likely to get around $30 million per year on the open market, and the Bengals are unlikely to keep him for that price as they need to get a deal done with Ja'Marr Chase. He will become one of the highest-paid receivers in the league this offseason, and then Higgins will have to work on his availability. In five pro seasons, Higgins has never played a full regular season schedule. Over the past two seasons, Higgins has only appeared in 12 games each year. When highly paid, that's something his new team will want to change. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow was named The Associated Press' Comeback Player of the Year Thursday, Feb. 6.
Footballguys view: This award's criteria is coming back from "illness, physical injury, or other circumstances that led him to miss playing time the previous season", so Sam Darnold wasn't a strong candidate even though he might have been the winner if the criteria was reviving your career from a trough of disappointment. Burrow's 2023 was basically a lost season because of his wrist injury, but he regained elite form in both NFL and fantasy terms in 2024 despite barely missing the playoffs. Now he is playing GM in the media and lobbying the team to sign both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to long term contracts this offseason. The fantasy players with any of the three on their teams hope the Bengals follow his advice. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow said he'd be willing to restructure his contract if it helped the team retain core players.
Footballguys view: Burrow is talking about WR Ja'Marr Chase. The Bengals have no leverage, and they have to sign the best receiver in the league (arguably) to a contract that makes him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history. There are others the Bengals need to sign as well (Tee Higgins, Trey Hendrickson), but Chase is the main player to get paid this offseason. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase said he will be looking to receive a fair contract that he has earned when the two sides discuss a contract extension this offseason.
Footballguys view: Chase should be the highest paid WR in the league, and the Bengals have zero leverage. They must keep Chase and QB Joe Burrow together. The price tag for Chase should go past $35 MM annually. In fact, Chase should soon be the highest paid wide receiver in NFL history. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Jermaine Burton 'has done nothing' and will 'have to start doing something quickly' if he hopes to remain with the team much longer, according to director of personnel Duke Tobin.
Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Alabama in the 2024 NFL Draft, Burton did almost nothing in 14 games. He caught only four passes for 107 yards as a rookie. Entering just his second season, Burton is clearly on the roster bubble. |
Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase is entering the final year of his current contract, and director of player personnel Duke Tobin said signing Chase to an extension is a priority for the team this offseason.
Footballguys view: Chase is set to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. The Bengals aren't known for such large contracts, but they can't end the connection between Chase and QB Joe Burrow. In 2024, Chase's 127 catches, 1,708 yards, and 17 receiving touchdowns led the NFL in each category. The Bengals did not offer Chase enough last year, and after his monster season they have no leverage. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Erick All (knee) is reportedly expected to be sidelined for the entire 2025 season due to the anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered on Nov. 3.
Footballguys view: According to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr., All went through complications with his ACL tear recovery, pushing back his return timeline to 2026. Dehner noted another surgery is required. This could put an even greater emphasis on retaining Mike Gesicki in free agency after posting 65 catches for 665 yards last season. All notched 20 catches for 158 yards before getting hurt against Las Vegas. |
Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase led the NFL with 787 yards after the catch during the 2024 regular season. He also led the league with 75 catches that resulted in a first down and was tied for third with 11 broken tackles.

Cincinnati Bengals OT Orlando Brown (leg) does not need to undergo surgery on his injured leg and said that his leg is feeling much better.
Footballguys view: This is good news, assuming Brown's leg issue does not flare up next season because it wasn't surgically repaired. The Bengals offensive line was more something for Joe Burrow to overcome than a reason he had another excellent season. |
Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden was officially hired as the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Link to storyFormer New England Patriots defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery has been hired by the Cincinnati Bengals as their new defensive line coach, according to a source.
Link to storyNotre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden is expected to officially interview for the defensive coordinator job with the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday, Jan. 22. According to multiple sources, head coach Zac Taylor 'has long held' Golden as the leading candidate in the search.
Footballguys view: The Bengals fired Lou Anarumo after the team failed to make the playoffs for a second straight year, and his replacement will be responsible for a complete overhaul of the staff and potentially the defensive roster. Golden had served as Cincinnati's linebackers coach during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, and his position group played a significant role in the team's Super Bowl run that last year. The 55-year-old has spent the previous three seasons with Notre Dame, building their defense into one of the best in college football. The Irish ranked as the fifth-best defense in yards allowed last year, and in 2024, they ranked fourth in passing defense (169.4 passing yards allowed per game) and scoring defense (tied, 15.5 points per game allowed). |
Cincinnati Bengals TE Cam Grandy signed a one-year contract extension on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Link to storyThe Cincinnati Bengals hired Scott Peters (Patriots) as offensive line coach and Michael McCarthy (Lions) as assistant offensive line coach on Monday, Jan. 20.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals impending free-agent TE Mike Gesicki likely will be too expensive for the Bengals to re-sign this offseason, in the opinion of BengalsWire's Chris Roling.
Footballguys view: Gesicki will follow in the footsteps of Hayden Hurst and CJ Uzomah in turning a chance to play with Joe Burrow into a big contract. Fourth round pick Erick All had the look of an instant starter before going down with a torn ACL this year, so he'll be in the mix to start if his rehab goes well. The Bengals also took a very athletic pass-catching tight end, Tanner McLachlan, in the sixth round. He should be added in deep dynasty leagues. |

Former Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and current Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden are reportedly the final two candidates being considered for the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator vacancy, according to SI.com's Drae Harris.

Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson led the NFL with 17.5 sacks and 92 pressures, and his 12 games with at least five pressures were the most of any player.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown's 44 targets from Week 9 to Week 18 ranked second among running backs.
Footballguys view: The Bengals didn't make the postseason, but that was mainly due to a poor defense. Brown replaced Joe Mixon as the team's starter in 2024 and did a great job. Fantasy GMs in PPR formats will certainly take note of his receiving ability in drafts next year. |

New England Patriots defensive coordinator Demarcus Covington will interview for the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator post.
Footballguys view: Covington, 35, has been with the Patriots since 2017 and just finished his first year as coordinator. He started as a coaching assistant with the club before being promoted to outside linebackers coach in 2019. He was the defensive line coach from 2020-2023 under former head coach Bill Belichick before being promoted under former head coach Jerod Mayo last year. The Bengals have also reportedly requested to interview Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who spent 2009-2015 with New England. |
Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham will interview for the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator post Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Footballguys view: Graham just completed his third season as the Raiders' defensive coordinator, but Pelissero notes that his contract is up, allowing him to seek other jobs. Graham has also been a coordinator with the Dolphins and Giants. He spent seven seasons on the Patriots staff earlier in his career and had a one-year stint in Green Bay before moving up to the coordinator level. Graham is also a candidate for the #Jaguars head coaching job. |
Cincinnati Bengals offensive line coach Frank Pollack, defensive line coach Marion Hobby and linebackers coach James Bettcher were fired Monday, Jan. 6.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was fired Monday, Jan. 6.
Footballguys view: Anarumo was part of coach Zac Taylor's original staff when Taylor was hired in 2019. Anarumo played an integral role in the team's turnaround from the worst team in the AFC North to playing in the franchise's first Super Bowl in 33 years. But his unit struggled the past two seasons as the Bengals missed the postseason in 2023 and 2024. This season, Cincinnati finished 26th in points allowed per drive and was 30th in the NFL in defensive red zone efficiency. Anarumo's unit turned things around toward the end of the season. Cincinnati was fifth in opposing scoring defense in the team's five-game win streak. It wasn't enough for him to avoid major changes on the staff, but it will likely make him of interest to other teams. Whatever the case, significant change was required after the Bengals squandered career years from quarterback Joe Burrow, wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, and defensive end Trey Hendrickson. |
