Penn State TE Tyler Warren won't participate in drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Footballguys view: Warren is joining others like QB Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) in this decision. He's arguably the best tight end in this draft class, so Warren doesn't need drills to improve his already high draft stock. We could see Warren go off the board in the top-10 of the NFL Draft. He's strong, versatile, and the type of weapon who can attack a defense in multiple ways. Warren is not Brock Bowers (Raiders), but he's a playmaker. |
Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford is likely to remain with the team, in the opinion of SNY's Connor Hughes. Hughes opines that Stafford's ability to talk with other teams is to determine his value, which the Rams would likely offer in a revised deal.
Footballguys view: This Stafford deal is all over the place. There are reports about three of four teams being interested in Stafford, and a market price is being determined. He wants a deal that pays him $50 million per year, and he might be able to get that number. Now, the Rams may be considering hanging onto him. As always, the truth will come out so stay tuned. |

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford and his representation have reportedly been in contact with Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady in recent days, according to multiple sources. Per Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Raiders have 'a massive need at quarterback and want to address it this offseason,' which makes it possible the team is willing to meet Stafford's contract demands at a level the Rams are not.
Footballguys view: The Raiders have been rumored to be in on Stafford as they look for a starting quarterback. This makes four teams (Steelers, Browns, Giants) as possible teams that trade for Stafford...if he's available. The latest in this saga has the Rams keeping Stafford. Who knows what his future holds, so stay tuned. |

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to be released at some point this offseason, reportedly prefers to sign with the Los Angeles Rams if Matthew Stafford is traded, according to multiple sources. Furthermore, multiple sources suggest Rodgers could convince WR Davante Adams, who is scheduled to count $38.34 million against New York's salary cap in 2025, to join him with the Rams in the likely event Adams is released.
Footballguys view: Adams and Rodgers seem like a package deal no matter where he lands (expect maybe the Raiders?). The Rams have to move on from Stafford first before they consider adding Rodgers. After that, we'll see if Adams follows his friend to his new team. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin 'means the world' to the organization, according to general manager Jason Licht, who told reporters on Tuesday, Feb. 25, that the team moved back the voidable year deadline on his contract recently to increase the chances of getting a deal done before the start of free agency.
Footballguys view: Godwin has been incredible productive for the Buccaneers for almost a decade. He was on his way to another 1,000-yard performance (it would have been his fourth in a row and fifth of his career) before suffering a dislocated ankle that kept him out of over half the 2024 season. Now set to be a free agent, Godwin's market may not be as strong due to the injury he's recovering from. Perhaps staying with the team he knows is the best plan for Godwin at this time. |

Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (knee) 'has a chance' to be ready for the start of the team's offseason program in April, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Footballguys view: McCarthy is set to take over the Vikings this year as their starting quarterback. Sam Darnold did an admirable job for the team in 2024, but they fell short of expectations in the playoffs and he may leave in free agency. McCarthy, their 2024 first-round pick, has been recovering from this knee injury since suffering it during his rookie preseason debut. |
Updating a previous report, Miami (Fla.) QB Cam Ward remains undecided on whether he'll throw at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, who noted Ward is preparing as though he will participate in drills.
Footballguys view: Ward is arguably the top quarterback in this draft class. It's either him or Shedeur Sanders from Colorado, who has already chosen not to throw at the Combine. With these top prospects, it's not uncommon for them to wait for their Pro Day to perform in front of NFL scouts. |
University of Texas QB Quinn Ewers intends to throw at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, who added Ewers is fully recovered from an oblique injury suffered Sept. 7.
Footballguys view: Ewers is trying climb the draft board in the 2025 NFL draft. Currently seen as a mid-round pick, Ewers was considered to be a first-round prospect before the 2024 season. During his final year with the Longhorns, Ewers struggled with decision making under duress and accuracy in the short-to-intermediate range. Any team that drafts him will have to be the right fit for a passer who loves to attack downfield - and has the deep ball accuracy to do so. |
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix (undisclosed) is working out at the team facility after an undisclosed procedure earlier this offseason, general manager George Paton said Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Footballguys view: It is not related to the fractures in his back suffered during the NFL season. Head coach Sean Payton previously said Nix was dealing with turf toe, but it's unclear if that is related to the procedure. |
New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen will prioritize the quarterback position this offseason, he told reporters at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Feb. 25. 'We've got to be better, we were a three-win team,' Schoen said. 'Where we are financially, from a salary cap standpoint, we're in good shape. We have premium draft capital. Not suffocating. We have the resources to improve the roster. We made some decisions after the first year when we won, and they didn't work out. Again, we're where we are and again, I feel like we have the resources to improve the roster and that's what's exciting about this time of year.' New York holds the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and currently has a projected $48 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.
Footballguys view: Could that quarterback be Colorado's Shedeur Sanders? Giants HC Brian Daboll seemed cozy around Sanders during the week of practice for the East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this year. Sanders is a pocket passer that can dice up defenses with his arm and anticipation. He's not a scrambler, but Sanders can keep plays alive behind the line of scrimmage by sliding and keeping his eyes downfield. |
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers offensive passing game specialist Klay Kubiak officially was named offense coordinator on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Footballguys view: Kyle Shanahan is going to call plays for the 49ers as per usual, but Kubiak is going to now be credited as the coordinator. He began his coaching tenure as a defensive quality control coach with the 49ers in 2021. Now, Kubiak is an OC with buzz around him as a rising star and a potential head coaching candidate...if the 49ers get things right on the offensive side of the ball in 2025. |
Philadelphia Eagles LB Zack Baun is scheduled to become a free agent in the coming weeks, but general manager Howie Roseman told reporters on Tuesday, Feb. 25, that the team will make 'a concerted effort' to re-sign him over the next week or so.

Free-agent RB Lew Nichols (Eagles) was signed to the active roster on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers impending free-agent LB Khalil Mack and team officials have been engaged in conversations with his representation about returning to the team, according to general manager Joe Hortiz said Tuesday, Feb. 25. 'We want Khalil (Mack) to play for us. Him and I have had some conversations, we've talked to his representation ... Hopefully we can get something done.'

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo will call plays in 2025, head coach Nick Sirianni said Tuesday, Feb. 25. 'I think what you guys don't see is the collaboration -- like one guy wears the crown of the offensive coordinator and that guy gets all the blame, that guy gets all the credit. That's not the way football works. It's just not -- in any sense of the fashion. Kevin's been there -- I can' tell how much him and Kellen were talking throughout the game, how much him and Brian were talking throughout the game, how much him and Shane were talking throughout the game.'
Link to storyRetired NFL TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) will not come out of retirement, contrary to a recent report, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who replied on X.com with, 'Nope. Nonsense,' in response to the story on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson will indeed face an open competition for the starting job after previous speculation, general manager Chris Ballard confirmed Tuesday, Feb. 25. The Colts will bring in a player to challenge him, likely in free agency, according to The Athletic's Zak Keefer.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase will be the 'highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL' once the two sides agree to a contract extension, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Miami Dolphins OT Terron Armstead is expected to agree to a restructured contract that will take his 2025 salary from $28.6 million to the league minimum, which would reportedly create $14 million of cap space for the team.

Link to storyUniversity of Michigan TE Colston Loveland (shoulder) is expected to be ready to participate in minicamp and fully cleared for training camp after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder on Jan. 29, according to the doctor who performed his surgery, Neal Elattrache.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette (foot) underwent foot surgery after the team's season ended after he dealt with foot discomfort during the season.
Footballguys view: Legette still has upside after a disappointing rookie season where he battled through a toe and wrist injury. He should be able to run soon, and a healthy Legette in training camp could help QB Bryce Young continue to thrive. |
Free-agent OT Jason Peters is expected to retire from the NFL this offseason and join the Seattle Seahawks as an assistant to the vice president of player affairs.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers LB Trevin Wallace (shoulder) recently underwent shoulder surgery and has begun the rehab phase of his recovery, according to general manager Dan Morgan.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) remains without a timeline as he rehabs and recovers from the second anterior cruciate ligament tear he has suffered in as many years, according to general manager Dan Morgan.
Footballguys view: Brooks is likely to miss most if not all the 2025 season. He waited to come back from initial knee injury suffered in college, then Brooks re-injured the same knee when he did start playing. It's likely the Panthers will be in the market for a change-of-pace back to work behind starter Chuba Hubbard. |
Buffalo Bills WR Khalil Shakir agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $60.2 million - including $32 million guaranteed at signing - on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Footballguys view: Shakir is a favorite target of QB Josh Allen, so extending him (now through the 2029 season) makes sense. In 2024, Shakir led the team in catches and yardage. While mainly a no.2 receiver, Shakir gets volume targets from Allen and that makes him a weekly WR3/flex option for Fantasy GMs. |
Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent OG Trey Smith has given the team optimism of re-signing as general manager Brett Veach said there has been productive dialogue already.
Link to storyBaltimore Ravens impending free-agent OT Ronnie Stanley is the team's clear offseason priority, and general manager Eric DeCosta said he's confident they can get a deal done.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers LB Joey Bosa could realistically remain with the Chargers at his $36.4 million salary cap number, according to general manager Joe Hortiz.

Baltimore Ravens PK Justin Tucker has met with general manager Eric DeCosta. DeCosta says the Ravens will allow the NFL to conduct its investigation before making any decisions.

Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (wrist) had surgery to repair a ligament in his left wrist Tuesday, Feb. 25, and will be ready for training camp.
Footballguys view: Hill was up in his feelings after the season ended for the Dolphins, but things seem to be patched up. He'll return this season as the Dolphins try to push for the postseason. After battling this nagging injury last year, a healthy Hill could once again be a threat (and a fantasy factor) in 2025. |

Washington Commanders DE Jonathan Allen has been granted permission to seek a trade.
Footballguys view: Allen (pectoral) is coming off an injury-shortened 2024 season, but there could be a market for his services. He turned 30-years old earlier this year, and if healthy Allen could likely still be a dominant force in the middle of the line. |

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB Rico Dowdle is a player the Cowboys are interested in re-signing this offseason, according to chief operating officer Stephen Jones.
Footballguys view: Undrafted out of South Carolina in 2020, Dowdle patiently waited for his opportunity with the Cowboys. He made the most of that in a contract year, and Dowdle rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2024. His 39 catches were a career high as well. With a great running back class in the 2025 NFL Draft, free agent running backs may not have as much interest as they want. Perhaps staying with the Cowboys on a team-friendly deal could be in Dowdle's future. Stay tuned. |

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford has received trade interest from the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders.
Footballguys view: Another day, and more Stafford news coming out of the NFL. Stafford would immediately make a team like the Steelers Super Bowl contenders. The Giants, Browns, and Raiders have further to go but he's a clear upgrade over what they've got or any options they could have. We'll see if some team is interested in making a trade with the Rams. |

Miami (Fla.) TE Elijah Arroyo (knee) will not participate in on-field drills at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine because of a knee injury he suffered during the Senior Bowl, according to sources. He is expected to participate in drills at his Pro Day.
Footballguys view: Arroyo was a player who stood out earlier this year at the Reese's Senior Bowl. He's a raw prospect, but his athletic profile is intriguing for scouts. Arroyo can move like the wind, and he does a good job of moving the chains as a downfield target. His medical reports (knee) will be critical for his draft stock, but most see Arroyo as a Day 2 pick. |
Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent QB Trey Lance probably will not return to the Cowboys next season, according to Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones.
Footballguys view: When Dak Prescott was banged up, the Cowboys turned to Cooper Rush instead of Lance. That's pretty much all you have to say about the former no.3 overall pick. He's busted with the 49ers, and Lance could barely see the field with the Cowboys. His physical tools will have some team interested, but the days of looking at him as a potential starter are over. |
