The Arizona Cardinals are interested in signing TE Trey McBride to a contract extension this offseason, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.
Footballguys view: McBride has become the engine of the passing game and he has much better chemistry with Kyler Murray than 2024 #4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr. Extending key players before they get to free agency is almost usually the smart move in hindsight, so the Cardinals would be wise to be willing to give a little at the margin to save money on McBride's second contract long term by getting it done early. |

Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. ranked fifth in the NFL with 17 end zone targets, and his 10 catches on passes thrown 20 or more yards down the field ranked second.
Footballguys view: Harrison is just getting started in his pro career. His eight touchdown catches helped his fantasy value, and as he matures in the pro game his catches and yardage will continue to increase. |

Link to storyArizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride caught seven of his 11 targets for a team-high 65 yards and a touchdown in a 47-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18, and his 111 receptions this season broke his own franchise record.
Footballguys view: The score was McBride's second in the last two weeks after going without a touchdown for the first 15 games of the season. His 111 catches for 1,146 yards ranked second behind only the Raiders' Brock Bowers in receptions and receiving yards for a TE. On a team with a couple of rising stars to keep an eye on, McBride stood out Sunday. |

Arizona Cardinals RB James Conner (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Jan. 1. The team also signed practice squad RB Michael Carter to their 53-man roster. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Conner finishes the season with a career-high 1,094 rushing yards. Add in 47 catches for 414 yards and nine combined touchdowns for the Cardinals lead back. Conner signed an extension this season, so he'll likely be an RB2 consideration for Fantasy GMs next year. In Week 18, DeeJay Dallas and Michael Carter should get most of the work. |

Link to storyArizona Cardinals RB Trey Benson (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
Link to storyArizona Cardinals RB James Conner's (knee) availability for Week 18 is uncertain at this point because he aggravated his knee injury in Week 17, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: Gannon explained to reporters on Monday that Conner "took a shot in the same knee," which is why he came out against the Rams. Gannon said they would "do what's best for him and then what's best for the team." If Conner is healthy enough to play and it is good for the team that he does, he will. With Trey Benson out last week, Michael Carter took over as the primary back after Conner left Sunday. We'll be watching for more on Conner and Benson in coming days.
