Link to storyFalcons | Casey Washington making strong first impression Tue Jun 18, 02:14 PM
Atlanta Falcons sixth-round draft choice WR Casey Washington has been 'killing it out there' and 'fitting in really, really well,' according to teammate Drake London.
Footballguys view: According to SI.com's Daniel Flick, from the first session of rookie minicamp May 10 onward, Washington found strong chemistry with first-round quarterback Michael Penix Jr. The 6-2, 200-pound Washington jumped onto Atlanta's radar with a strong finish to his senior season and a 39.5-inch vertical, which he paired with a 4.46 40-yard dash at his pro day to form a convincing athletic profile. Washington won't be of interest in most leagues, but those in very deep Dynasty formats should have him on the radar. |
Falcons | Michael Penix currently third on depth chart? Tue Jun 18, 12:18 AM
Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. worked with the backups during minicamp while veteran QB Taylor Heinicke worked with the first team. Starting QB Kirk Cousins (Achilles') is still recovering from an Achilles' injury and did not take part in camp.
Footballguys view: According to ESPN.com's Marc Raimondi, Penix has shown flashes of brilliance this spring, especially on the deep ball. But he also has been plagued with inconsistency, missing some touch passes. All in all, Penix being listed behind Cousins and Heinicke at this point isn't surprising. |

Free-agent OT Jaryd Jones-Smith (Commanders) agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons Monday, June 17, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Link to storyFalcons | Atlanta loses draft pick for tampering Thu Jun 13, 11:16 AM
The Atlanta Falcons were fined $250,000 and docked a 2025 fifth-round draft selection for violating the NFL's anti-tampering policy with three players, including QB Kirk Cousins, the league announced Thursday, June 13.
Footballguys view: So much for Cousins saying "There's not a whole lot there" when asked about potential tampering. The NFL decided otherwise, and the Falcons are docked some cash and a pick. |

Link to storyFalcons | Time For The Bijan Robinson Show Tue Jun 11, 12:22 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson is going to be used as much as possible, according to head coach Raheem Morris. When asked about Robinson's role, Morris said: 'Get the ball to Bijan as much as you can in as many ideal situations as you possibly can.'
Footballguys view: We've already heard it from Robinson and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Now Morris is singing from the same sheet. It seems safe to assume the Falcons will make a concerted effort to get Bijan the football. Both Robinson's have mentioned Christian McCaffrey-like usage. That was 22.1 opportunities per game last season. We can draw a more direct line to what we saw in Los Angeles, where Zac Robinson worked under Sean McVay when Rams RB Kyren Williams averaged 21.6 touches per game in his breakout season last year. If Bijan Robinson gets that kind of usage this year, he will offer investors RB1 overall upside. |
Falcons | Bijan Robinson hopes for significant role Sun Jun 9, 06:05 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson said he hopes to be used similarly to how San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is used in the Falcons new offensive scheme.
Footballguys view: Remember, incoming coordinator Zac Robinson also discussed the possibility of using Bijan like McCaffrey. The coach explained: "Bijan's such a talented player. He's gonna play running back, first and foremost - and then any way we can find creative ways to get him the ball like the Niners do with McCaffrey is exactly right." Assuming the Falcons run a scheme similar to what Zac Robinson worked with under Sean McVay in Los Angeles (McVay has always been best when relying on one back to drive his offenses), Bijan profiles as a player who should see his stats boosted. |

Atlanta Falcons WR JaQuae Jackson was waived Tuesday, June 4.

Link to storyFalcons | Bijan Robinson back on field Mon Jun 3, 04:14 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson (ankle) participated in the voluntary workout Monday, June 3.
Footballguys view: Having Robinson at full speed will be vital to the Falconsâ?? hopes for the 2024 season, so expect a cautious approach to set the second-year back up for a healthy fall. |
Falcons | Kyle Pitts primed for big year? Sun Jun 2, 09:24 AM
Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has picked up the new offense well, according to offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. 'And so, I'm just excited to see him continue to get more comfortable in the system,' Robinson said. 'And the sky's the limit for what kind of season he can have.'
Footballguys view: Robinson has a great mind for offensive football, and we see him as a future head coach (perhaps sooner rather than later). He'll know what to do with the Falcons' offense, and Pitts should be a big part of what they do. We like projecting Pitts for 65 receptions or so. His touchdown total (only six in three seasons) will determine how high he ranks in the TE1 tier. Projecting Pitts for around five touchdowns sounds about right. |
Falcons | Tucker Fisk let go Fri May 31, 04:37 PM

Link to storyFalcons | Bijan Robinson could return for minicamp Thu May 23, 01:38 AM
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson (ankle) is not participating in OTAs due to an ankle injury, but head coach Raheem Morris said that Robinson is 'progressing well' and is 'hoping' that he will be available for the team's mandatory minicamp in June.
Footballguys view: We won't be worried about this unless Robinson is limited to open camp. It's tough to choose between Robinson and Breece Hall in the middle of the first round. This could create some separation if it's an issue that lingers into the summer. |
Falcons | Tucker Fisk waived/injured Wed May 22, 04:53 PM
Atlanta Falcons TE Tucker Fisk (undisclosed) was waived/injured Wednesday, May 22.

Link to storyFalcons | Bijan Robinson on track for camp Tue May 21, 05:08 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson (ankle) will be limited during the organized team activities because of an injury but should be a full participant when training camp starts, according to head coach Raheem Morris.
Footballguys view: The Falcons are in Phase 3 of OTAs and hold practice Monday through Thursday this week before veterans take a week off and return for the final stint of voluntary practice before mandatory minicamp wraps up the team's offseason work. The expectation for Robinson, Morris said, is to be back for some on-field, "movement" work by mandatory minicamp. The Falcons will officially start their summer break on June 12. That break will allow Robinson further time to rest before returning for training camp at the end of July. The expectation is to have Robinson at full-go for training camp. We'll be watching for more. |

Link to storyFalcons | Kirk Cousins On The Same Page With Falcons Despite Selection Of Penix Tue May 14, 04:55 PM
Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins insists he's not angry with the Falcons for drafting quarterback Michael Penix. Cousins was asked on the Bussin' with the Boys podcast if there's a beef between him and the Falcons over the draft, and Cousins answered, "No, I don't think there can be. I don't think it's helpful." Cousins said his only priority is winning. "We're trying to win the Super Bowl, and it's hard enough. So let's all be on the same page, and let's go try to win the Super Bowl," Cousins said.
Footballguys view: Cousins acknowledged that no player can assume his team won't draft his replacement. "This wasn't like a foreign concept. This is the NFL. Anything can happen," Cousins said. Still, no one expected the Falcons to spend the eighth pick in the draft on a quarterback. And, as PFT suggests, that raises a question about how patient the Falcons will be in their quest to win a Super Bowl with Cousins, and how soon they'll move on to Penix. Head coach Raheem told reporters last Friday that Cousins is cleared to participate in all aspects of what the club is doing in Phase II of their offseason program. Cousins has said that he's expecting to be "full speed" by the time training camp begins this summer. That he's capable of handling all aspects now is a positive sign that will indeed be the case. |
Falcons | Atlanta without two players at OTAs Tue May 14, 02:04 PM
Atlanta Falcons DT Grady Jarrett (knee) and RB Jase McClellan (foot) are not participating in organized team activities this week, according to head coach Raheem Morris. Per Morris, both players are expected to be ready to take part in mandatory minicamp from June 10 to June 12.
Link to storyFalcons | Bijan Robinson sitting out of practice Tue May 14, 01:56 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson (ankle) is not participating in organized team activities this week due to an ankle injury, according to head coach Raheem Morris. Per Morris, Robinson is expected to be ready to take part in mandatory minicamp from June 10 to June 12.
Footballguys view: Robinson, who ran 214 times for 976 yards and caught 58 passes for 487 yards during his rookie season, will be an integral part of new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson's offense. We'll continue to watch for more, but Robinson comes in at RB3 on our Footballguys 2024 Draft Rankings and RB1 on our Dynasty Rankings. Those expectations don't change based on a minor issue in May. |

Atlanta Falcons sixth-round draft choices RB Jase McClellan (Alabama), WR Casey Washington (Illinois) and DT Zion Logue (Georgia) signed four-year contracts on Friday, May 10. Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: McClellan didn't quite live up to the Alabama draft pedigree, but he could be an effective inside runner and backup to Tyler Allgeier in that role if he makes the team. |

Free-agent WR Dylan Drummond (Giants) signed with the Atlanta Falcons Friday, May 10, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins (Achilles) has been 'pretty much full go' at practice, according to head coach Raheem Morris on Friday, May 10. Morris said there's no contact and no one is around his feet.
Footballguys view: Great news for Cousins here. He's got first-round pick Michael Penix behind him, but the rookie won't see the field if Cousins is healthy and playing good football. |

Link to storyFalcons | Atlanta counting on Darnell Mooney Fri May 3, 12:53 AM
Atlanta Falcons WR Darnell Mooney will be relied on regularly this season with the new offense expected to feature three-receiver sets 90% of the time, according to Josh Kendall of The Athletic.
Footballguys view: Mooney can get by defenders in a hurry, and he's set to be a deep target for QB Kirk Cousins in 2024. Getting a fresh start with the Falcons, we'll see if the former Bears fifth-round pick (2020) can produce like he did in 2021 when he was a 1,000-yard receiver. From a fantasy perspective, Mooney is a WR5/WR6 with upside. |
Falcons | Atlanta signs six UDFAs Tue Apr 30, 05:30 PM
Undrafted free-agent OT Ryan Coll (Richmond), CB Jayden Price (North Dakota State), CB Anthony Sao (MidAmerica Nazarene), P Ryan Sanborn (Texas), CB Trey Vaval (Minnesota State-Mankato) and OT Nolan Potter (Northern Illinois) signed with the Atlanta Falcons Tuesday, April 30. Link to storyFalcons | Kyle Pitts' option picked up Mon Apr 29, 05:42 PM
Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts had his fifth-year option exercised Monday, April 29, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The option for the 2025 season carries a guaranteed salary of $10.878 million. Pitts was the No. 4 pick in the 2021 draft out of the University of Florida. Pitts, 23, started all but two games in 2023, catching 53 passes for 667 yards and three touchdowns on a team with "deficient" quarterback play, according to Falcons owner Arthur Blank. That came after a torn MCL ended Pitts' 2022 season in Week 11. With Kirk Cousins on board as his triggerman, it's worth noting nearly 27 percent of the veteran signal caller's passes targeted tight ends last year, fifth in the NFL. That focus has benefited fantasy managers invested in players like T.J. Hockenson (TE4 in 2023 despite tearing his ACL and MCL in Week 16), Kyle Rudolph (TE10 in 2018, Cousins' first season as a Viking), and Washington's Jordan Reed (TE3 in 2015, Cousins' first season as a starter; and TE9 in 2016). If Tyler Conklin managed a TE20 season with Cousins in 2021, is it unreasonable to believe Pitts will finally turn things around this fall? |
