Link to storyPackers | Extension close for Jordan Love? Thu Jun 13, 01:52 AM
Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love indicated he was optimistic that the team would finalize an extension with him before the start of training camp. When asked why he was optimistic, Love said, 'It's what I've heard.'
Footballguys view: Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a radio interview that the plan was to get something done before training camp. We think Gutekunst is one of the best GMs in the game, so consider us optimistic that something will happen. Love had some struggles early last year, but he looked like the stud quarterback the Packers were hoping he would be for most of the 2023 season. The future is bright for Love and the Packers. |
Packers | Carrington Valentine drawing praise Tue Jun 11, 04:48 PM
Green Bay Packers CB Carrington Valentine has been 'outstanding' during offseason practice and his improvement physically has been 'night and day' from his 2023 rookie campaign, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.

Link to storyPackers | Gutekunst Wants New Deal For Jordan Love Before Training Camp Opens Tue Jun 4, 04:01 PM
Last offseason, the Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love did a short extension to provide cushion during the quarterback's first full season as the starter. After Love impressed in 2023, sides are angling for a more significant pact this summer. General manager Brian Gutekunst acknowledged Tuesday that they hope to complete a deal before training camp kicks off in July. "We're in those conversations right now," he said. "We'd like to get this done before training camp."
Footballguys view: Gutekunst added both parties want to get a contract extension done. As NFL.com notes, so far this offseason, Jared Goff's four-year, $212 million deal is the only big-money QB extension. Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa, and Dak Prescott join Love as other signal-callers in line for new deals. The longer clubs wait, the more expensive extensions usually become, particularly for QBs. Meanwhile, despite ongoing contract negotiations, Love has participated in voluntary offseason workouts. The quarterback showed down the stretch last year that he has the talent to keep the 30-plus years of Pro Bowl quarterback play in Green Bay chugging along. Now, the sides need to settle on a figure that keeps both parties happy for the long term. We'll be watching for more. |
Packers | Javon Bullard under contract Mon Jun 3, 04:19 PM

Link to storyPackers | Coaches impressed by Eric Stokes Thu May 30, 12:29 AM
Green Bay Packers CB Eric J. Stokes has been 'as good as I've ever seen him, both mentally and on the field,' per head coach Matt LaFluer. Stokes, who had his fifth-year option declined, is competing for a starting spot opposite CB Jaire Alexander. Stokes added that he's feeling the 'best' he has felt since entering the NFL.
Footballguys view: The Packers defense could get a big boost this year if their 2021 first round pick finally lives up to expectations. Like Christian Watson, Stokes went to the University of Wisconsin this offseason to figure out his hamstring issues. They determined the culprit was his surgically repaired foot, and it sounds like Stokes is a new man. |
Packers | Josh Jacobs sees some work Wednesday Wed May 29, 03:50 PM
Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (hamstring) participated in some drills during the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 29.
Footballguys view: The Packers are going to be cautious with their new starter as he deals with this hamstring injury. We love Marshawn Lloyd behind Jacobs, but the rookie is going to have to wait if Jacobs is healthy. Fantasy GMs are drafting Jacobs as a low-end RB1, but the potential for him to creep near the top-5 at the position is there on this ascending offense. |
Packers | Lukas Van Ness sidelined Wed May 29, 03:49 PM
Green Bay Packers DE Lukas Van Ness (thumb) did not participate in the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 29, because he recently broke the tip of his thumb, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Link to storyPackers | Tucker Kraft recovering from surgery Wed May 29, 12:13 AM

Green Bay Packers LB Kingsley Enagbare (knee) has not had any restrictions during offseason workouts, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Link to storyPackers | Christian Watson healthy Fri May 24, 04:31 PM
Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson said he is feeling completely healthy after dealing with hamstring problems in 2023 and believes he can avoid injuries this upcoming season after building symmetry in the strength of both of his legs.
Footballguys view: Earlier reports indicate Watson and the team have a special program to fix his stride, which hopefully leads to fewer hamstring problems. If you think he can stay healthy this year, Watson is a value play as a WR4 for Fantasy GMs out there. |
Packers | More on Christian Watson Fri May 24, 10:36 AM
Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson had an asymmetrical stride, which led to persistent hamstring issues, according to offseason testing. He has worked on the strength and regaining symmetry in his stride.
Footballguys view: Reports surfaced about a special program for Watson to keep him away from hamstring injuries, and now we know what it is. If healthy, Watson should be a big part of an energized Packers' offense. That means he's a value at a WR4 pricetag...if he can stay off the injury report. |

Link to storyPackers | Green Bay confident about Christian Watson Tue May 21, 03:09 PM
Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring) is on a program to help him avoid the hamstring issues that have plagued him through two NFL seasons. According to head coach Matt LaFleur, the Packers will feel pretty good about Watson's hamstrings holding up for the season if he can make it through training camp without another such injury.
Footballguys view: Watson, who was limited to 11 games last season, had 69 catches for 1,003 yards and 12 touchdowns the previous two years, and putting up something similar over a 17-game season would be ideal. Currently at WR44 on the Footballguys 2024 Draft Rankings, Watson offers considerable upside at WR4 prices -- albeit with the obvious risk. |
Packers | Josh Jacobs dealing with minor hamstring issue Tue May 21, 02:59 PM
Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (hamstring) is reportedly nursing a hamstring injury but is working off to the side during organized team activities as of Tuesday, May 21.
Footballguys view: According to USA Today's Ryan Wood, Jacobs looks to be in rehab, making sprints on the sideline. Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the hamstring issue. "I know everybody is going to freak out," LaFleur said. "But he's on the mend. We expect him back pretty shortly." We'll follow up as needed. |

Link to storyPackers | Josh Myers appears locked in as starter Tue May 21, 12:25 AM
Green Bay Packers C Josh Myers is not expected to face a 'real threat' to his role as the team's starting center, in the opinion of Green Bay Press-Gazette's Ryan Wood, who notes that rookie OL Jacob Monk is more likely to push for the right guard spot than supplant Myers at center.
Link to storyPackers | Jordan Love nearly flawless down the stretch Sun May 19, 10:53 PM
Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love threw 18 touchdowns compared to one interception over the final eight games of the regular season.
Footballguys view: This time last year, Love was beginning his first offseason as Green Bay's starting quarterback. He was feeling his way forward with a young, unproven receiving corps. If you believe that late-season run was a sign things started clicking for Love and the Packers offense, you're not alone. Expecting the signal caller to pick up where he left off seems like a bare minimum. Love is currently QB10 on the Footballguys 2024 Draft Rankings. |

Link to storyPackers | MarShawn Lloyd could supplant AJ Dillon as RB2 Thu May 9, 12:52 AM
Green Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd could be in line for a 'significant role' this season, in the opinion of the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Pete Dougherty, who notes that Lloyd is 'faster and more explosive' than RB AJ Dillon, who has been the team's No. 2 running back the past few years. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said he'd like to get Lloyd on the field 'as much as possible.'
Footballguys view: Dillon is not the player he was supposed to be. He's a bit of a plodder, and a speedster like Lloyd should be able to separate himself. In addition, Lloyd makes plays as a receiver that Dillon cannot. We think Lloyd ends up winning the no.2 job behind Josh Jacobs, but we'll have to see this battle shake out in training camp. |
Packers | Zach Tom likely to stay at RT? Thu May 9, 12:45 AM
Green Bay Packers OT Zach Tom has the versatility to play numerous spots along the offensive line, but the team looks to prefer to have him stay at right tackle, in the opinion of the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Pete Dougherty.
