Kansas City Chiefs S Bryan Cook (quadriceps), RB Kareem Hunt (quadriceps), QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle), OT Jawaan Taylor (knee) and CB Jaylen Watson (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Chiefs did not hold a practice Wednesday, so the practice report is an estimation.
Footballguys view: Mahomes remains on the report with his lingering ankle injury. The Chiefs have had him on the report every week since Week 16 after he sprained his right ankle against the Browns in a Dec. 15 game. He has remained a full participant since the start of the postseason. Mahomes is 34-of-51 for 422 yards and two touchdowns in two postseason games. He also has run for 57 yards and two touchdowns. That Hunt would have practiced fully had there been an actual session is also a positive. We'll follow up as needed but expect every player with a pulse to be available for next week's Super Bowl LIX against the Eagles. |

Former Tennessee Titans cornerbacks coach Chris Harris interviewed with the New York Jets for their defensive coordinator vacancy Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Footballguys view: The Titans announced earlier this week that Harris would not return and that former Jets assistant Tony Oden will fill his role on Brian CCallahan'sstaff. Harris has also spent time with the Commanders, Chargers, and Bears since retiring as a safety and moving into the coaching rank after the 2012 season. Incoming head coach Aaron Glenn revealed at a Monday press conference that he will not call the Jets' defensive plays, so whoever lands this job will handle that responsibility. |

Free-agent RB Kazmeir Allen, DT Viliami Fehoko Jr., OG Julian Good-Jones, QB Sam Hartman, TE Tyree Jackson, DE Andre Jones Jr., WR Chris Moore, S Ben Nikkel and TE Cole Turner signed Reserve/Futures contracts with the Washington Commanders on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Footballguys view: We'll stubbornly monitor Jackson in crazy deep dynasty formats. The converted quarterback has made the transition to tight end, and that's something that Washington was able to do successfully years ago with Logan Thomas. We doubt Jackson works out like Thomas did (who was great when healthy), but it's worth keeping an eye on. |

The Buffalo Bills suffered a 32-29 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. QB Josh Allen completed 22-of-34 passes for 237 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, while running 11 times for 39 yards. RB James Cook rushed 13 times for 85 yards and two scores, while absorbing all of his three targets for 49 yards. WR Mack Hollins led the way with three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown, while WR Khalil Shakir was good for six receptions for 46 yards on seven targets. WR Amari Cooper resurfaced for four receptions for 33 yards, while TE Dalton Kincaid had two catches for 13 yards, and WR Curtis Samuel had a 4-yard touchdown on his only offensive touch. S Cole Bishop had game highs with 10 total stops and nine solo tackles, while LB Matt Milano had nine total stops, eight solo tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Alaina Getzenberg framed it, "A season of surpassed expectations and new heights ultimately had the same familiar ending as a sloppy first half set up a tight final two quarters, and it just wasn't quite enough." The mistake-riddled game continued into the final drive when the Bills offense had an opportunity to put together a game-winning drive. The Bills seemed unprepared for a blitz on fourth-and-5 with two minutes remaining in the game. Kincaid did not come down with a late heave thrown under duress by Allen. The Bills have now lost all four postseason meetings against the Mahomes-led Chiefs team since 2020 and have lost eight straight road playoff games. Allen-led Bills teams are 0-2 in the AFC Championship. Buffalo will now go into the offseason with new questions about what they need to do to get past Kansas City in the postseason. |

The Seattle Seahawks are hiring Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator, sources said Sunday, Jan. 26. He held the same position previously with the New Orleans Saints. He was reportedly the top choice for head coach Mike MacDonald.
Footballguys view: Kubiak was the hottest name of all NFL coordinators after two weeks and then his offense fell apart, at least in part due to injuries. This should be seen as good news for the Seahawks offense, although not everyone agreed that Ryan Grubb should have been fired, or even did a poor job in his first year as the offensive coordinator. Hopefully this offense can establish some continuity going forward. |

The Washington Commanders were eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 26. QB Jayden Daniels completed 29-of-48 passes for 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing six times for a team-high 48 yards with a score. RB Brian Robinson Jr. struggled with 11 runs for just 36 yards, while RB Austin Ekeler was bottled up for just 15 yards on eight carries, while contributing five receptions for 17 yards while losing a fumble. TE Zach Ertz posted game highs with 11 receptions, 104 yards and 16 targets, while WR Terry McLaurin had three grabs for 51 yard and a TD on seven targets. WR Dyami Brown posted three receptions for 42 yards on five targets with a fumble lost. WR Olamide Zaccheaus added four catches for 26 yards on five targets, while TE Ben Sinnott had a 23-yard catch on his only target, with WR Jamison Crowder adding a 4-yard catch on three targets. CB Jeremy Chinn and LB Bobby Wagner each totaled team bests with nine stops.
Footballguys view: The Commanders offense fumbled the ball away or settled for field goals too many times to hang with the Eagles. Brown's fumble slows down the momentum he had built in the playoffs as he heads to free agency, while Ertz had a great game against the team he won a ring with in 2018. Washington exceeded any reasomable expectations this year and they will be the standard for stunning one-year turnarounds for the foreseeable future. |
