Detroit Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson (leg) looked 'really good' in his return to the practice field this week, according to defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers. Hutchinson was lost for the season in mid-October after suffering a broken tibia and fibula.
Footballguys view: Hutchinson's fifth-year option was picked up earlier this year, and reporters around the team believe an extension is happening sooner rather than later. He's a star on the field when healthy, but Hutchinson's season was cut short last year in Week 6 with a fractured fibula. It sounds like he's doing good in his recovery, and we'll learn more about his status for the start of the regular season in training camp. |
New York Jets PK Greg Zuerlein was released on Friday, May 16. Undrafted free-agent Michael Fletcher (Appalachian State) was signed to replace him on the roster.

Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson said he was disappointed in a text message exchange with head coach Zac Taylor, who threatened to fine him for skipping mandatory minicamp in June. 'A little bit transpired between me and Zac,' Hendrickson said. 'We've tried to keep it as least amount as personal as possible, but at some point, in this process, it becomes personal.' 'I don't think it was necessary,' Hendrickson said of Taylor's text. 'I think we should have all hoped for the best until proven otherwise. Other things have transpired like the importance of me being here in OTAs doesn't seem to be respected. I think I've carried a lot of respect. I don't mean to insinuate anything about anyone's character, but that was disappointing. I think that was the word of the offseason.'
Footballguys view: Hendrickson, who led the NFL in sacks last season, is one of the NFL's best defensive players and wants to be paid as such. He and the Bengals have yet to be able to come to a close on terms of what his next deal should look like, and personal issues with the coach won't make that easier. Although he showed up at team headquarters to make his case to the media, Hendrickson did not declare whether he plans to attend mandatory minicamp. Nor did he discuss sitting out of training camp or games, for that matter. For the most part, Hendrickson refrained from making any declarations as he hopes to get his situation resolved as soon as possible. However, he confirmed he wouldn't play in the upcoming season on his current deal. He is scheduled to make a base salary of $15.8 million with a salary cap hit of $18.6 million this season. This means the Bengals and Hendrickson will have to find a middle ground somewhere for a long-term extension to be reached by Week 1. |

Undrafted free-agent DE/LB Kaimon Rucker (North Carolina) signed an undisclosed contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, May 13.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson told reporters on Tuesday, May 13, that he will not play this season under his current contract. Hendrickson is scheduled to earn $15.8 million in base salary in 2025 - the final season of a four-year contract.
Footballguys view: The Bengals' star pass rusher appeared at the team's voluntary workouts Tuesday -- not in uniform -- and addressed reporters, a day after he released a statement to ESPN's Adam Schefter saying the team has cut off contract talks with him. Hendrickson said Tuesday he's disappointed with the Bengals' lack of communication and that the situation has become "personal." However, he indicated that his relationship with the team could still be repaired. Hendrickson, 30, is entering the final year of his contract and is coming off his best season in the NFL. He led the league with 17.5 sacks in 2024. We'll continue to monitor this story. |

Undrafted free-agent WR Luke Floriea (Kent State), WR Kisean Johnson (Western Kentucky) and WR Cade McDonald (Miami (Ohio)) signed with the Cleveland Browns Monday, May 12. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. The team also waived FB Eli Wilson, DE Marcus Haynes and S Trey Dean as well as waived/injured WR Ja'Seem Reed (undisclosed).
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson told ESPN on Monday, May 12, that 'no communication has taken place between my camp and the organization post-draft.'
Footballguys view: Hendrickson, 30, is entering the final year of his contract and is coming off his best season in the NFL. He led the league with 17.5 sacks last season and was named to The AP All-Pro team. He's made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons with Cincinnati. In 2023, he was given a one-year extension on the four-year, $60 million deal he signed as a free agent in 2021. Last offseason, he requested a trade after the team opted not to give him a new deal. He ultimately reported for voluntary workouts. Hendrickson is set to earn $15.8 million in base salary this season. The Bengals will begin organized team activities later this month. Hendrickson isn't the only defensive end on the roster looking to resolve a contract issue. Shemar Stewart, the 17th pick in this year's draft, did not participate in last week's rookie minicamp because his contract remained unsigned. |

Free-agent DE Jahfari Harvey, WR Ketron Jackson Jr., WR Key'Shawn Smith and LB Wesley Steiner signed undisclosed contracts with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, May 12. OT Dominic Boyd, Amari Burney, DT Matthew Butler, WR Tyreik McAllister and Brandon N. Smith were waived. WR Kristian Wilkerson was also released.

Arizona Cardinals seventh-round pick LB Jordan Burch signed a four-year, $4,337,892 contract prior to the start of rookie minicamp. The deal includes a signing bonus of $137,892 and his salary cap charge is $874,473. His base salaries are $840,000 for 2025, $1.005 million for 2026, $1.12 million for 2027 and $1.235 million for 2028. Crawford has a full split for the first two seasons of his deal, meaning his salary would decrease to $490,000 in 2025 and $540,000 in 2026 if he is placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
Link to storyFree-agent DE Jadeveon Clowney (Panthers) said that he wants to continue his playing career, several days after being released by the Carolina Panthers. General manager Dan Morgan had tried to gauge trade interest in Clowney from other teams before and after the 2025 NFL Draft but was unable to finalize a deal. The Panthers had offered him a chance to remain with the organization if he agreed to take a pay cut but he declined. According to OverTheCap.com, Clowney's release frees up $7.8 million of salary cap space for Carolina, with $6 million of dead money.
Footballguys view: The Panthers released Clowney a few days ago can still make plays as a reserve rusher. Clowney compiled 5.5 sacks and knocked down four passes with the Panthers in 2024. At some point this offseason, and perhaps closer to training camp, Clowney should find a new team - perhaps on a contender this time. |

Free-agent DE Drake Jackson (49ers) is continuing to recover from a knee injury sustained in November 2024 but is expected to receive medical clearance by the beginning of training camp.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers third-round draft choice DT Jamaree Caldwell, fourth-round draft choice LB Kyle Kennard, fifth-round draft choice WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith, fifth-round draft choice TE Oronde Gadsden II, sixth-round draft choice OG Branson Taylor, sixth-round draft choice S R.J. Mickens and seventh-round draft choice CB Trikweze Bridges signed four-year contracts with the Chargers Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Orande Gadsen II is a player with a freakish athletic skill set. He's a weapon as a tight end, and Gadsen can use a blend of size and speed to make plays. Gadsen will learn behind Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin in his rookie season, but he's got the upside to one day be a starter. |
New Orleans Saints fourth-round draft choice LB Danny Stutsman, fourth-round draft choice CB Quincy Riley, sixth-round draft choice RB Devin Neal, seventh-round draft choice TE Moliki Matavao and seventh-round draft choice DE Fadil Diggs signed four-year contracts with the Saints Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Neal is the type of runner who reminded some in the scouting community of Joe Mixon. He's a late-round pick, so Neal is not a given for the 53-man roster in New Orleans. However, he's got a three-down skill set and could be a starter in the league. That's why we're monitoring him in super deep dynasty formats. |
Pittsburgh Steelers fourth-round draft choice LB Jack Sawyer signed a four-year contract with the Steelers Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storySan Francisco 49ers DE Drake Jackson (knee) was waived Friday, May 9, with a failed physical designation.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Kyle Williams is a quick receiver with speed to flip the field on any catch. He'll have a chance to become a favorite target for QB Drake Maye this year. Williams begins his pro career as the no.3 receiver on the depth chart behind Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas. |
Indianapolis Colts OG Atonio Mafi and DT Pheldarius Payne were released Friday, May 9.
Link to storyDetroit Lions fifth-round draft choice OG Miles Frazier, sixth-round draft choice DE Ahmed Hassanein, seventh-round draft choice WR Dominic Lovett and seventh-round draft choice S Dan Jackson signed four-year contracts with the Lions Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills third-round pick DE Landon Jackson, fifth-round pick DB Jordan Hancock, fifth-round pick TE Jackson Hawes, sixth-round pick CB Dorian Strong, sixth-round pick OT Chase Lundt and seventh-round pick WR Kaden Prawther signed undisclosed four-year deals Friday, May 7.
Footballguys view: Hawes is a player we will monitor in deep dynasty formats. A former high school linebacker, Hawes was mostly a blocker in college at Yale. He needs to develop as a route runner and we'll see if the Bills want to use him as more than a blocker. Prawther is an outside receiver with good ball skills, but he's not afraid to mix things up in the middle of the field. |
New York Jets fifth-round draft choice DE Tyler Baron signed a four-year contract with the Jets Thursday, May 8. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers third-round draft choice CB Jacob Parrish, fourth-round draft choice LB David Walker, fifth-round draft choice DT Elijah Roberts and seventh-round draft choice WR Tez Johnson signed four-year contracts with the Buccaneers Thursday, May 8. Link to storyCarolina Panthers LB Jadeveon Clowney, TE Jordan Matthews and WR Dax Milne were released Thursday, May 8. The team also waived WR T.J. Luther, OG Andrew Raym and DT Jerrod Clark and waived/injured DT Popo Aumavae (undisclosed).
Footballguys view: Clowney is the biggest name here, and it's not a surprise considering there were rumblings he could be cut before the draft. In 14 games last year, Clowney totaled 5.5 sacks and can still get after the passer in a part-time role. Clowney should have no problem getting a job for 2025. |

Detroit Lions sixth-round pick DE Ahmed Hassanein was praised by general manager Brad Holmes for was how hard he plays and how his motor never stops. Link to storyGreen Bay Packers third-round draft choice WR Savion Williams (Texas Christian), fourth-round draft choice DL Barryn Sorrell (Texas), fifth-round draft choice DE Collin Oliver (Oklahoma State), sixth-round draft choice DT Warren Brinson (Georgia) and seventh-round draft choices CB Micah Robinson (Tulane) and OL John Williams (Cincinnati) signed their four-year rookie contracts on Thursday, May 1. Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: Savion Williams is the player we're most excited about here, and Fantasy GMs should follow suit. Super athletic and with size, Williams reminds some in the scouting community of Nico Collins (Texans). He can take the top off the defense, and Williams has strength after the catch too. With refined route-running and improved concentration, Williams could end up being a steal for the Packers - and for dynasty GMs out there. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said DE David Walker was his favorite player in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the team considered trading up for him in order to draft him but he fell to their spot.
Link to storyNew York Giants DE Abdul Carter also received a prank phone call during the 2025 NFL Draft around the time the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to the No. 2 pick. The caller said the Jaguars were taking him, but Carter knew it was fraudulent, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Footballguys view: That makes about four players who were pranked during the draft. The Shedeur Sanders prank call got the most attention, but Carter and others had to go through the same thing. We'll see if the NFL cracks down on these other callers just like they did on the Sanders prankster. |
