Rams | Aaron Rodgers eyeing starting job with LA Rams? Wed Feb 26, 09:29 AM
New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to be released at some point this offseason, reportedly prefers to sign with the Los Angeles Rams if Matthew Stafford is traded, according to multiple sources. Furthermore, multiple sources suggest Rodgers could convince WR Davante Adams, who is scheduled to count $38.34 million against New York's salary cap in 2025, to join him with the Rams in the likely event Adams is released.
Footballguys view: Adams and Rodgers seem like a package deal no matter where he lands (expect maybe the Raiders?). The Rams have to move on from Stafford first before they consider adding Rodgers. After that, we'll see if Adams follows his friend to his new team. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin 'means the world' to the organization, according to general manager Jason Licht, who told reporters on Tuesday, Feb. 25, that the team moved back the voidable year deadline on his contract recently to increase the chances of getting a deal done before the start of free agency.
Footballguys view: Godwin has been incredible productive for the Buccaneers for almost a decade. He was on his way to another 1,000-yard performance (it would have been his fourth in a row and fifth of his career) before suffering a dislocated ankle that kept him out of over half the 2024 season. Now set to be a free agent, Godwin's market may not be as strong due to the injury he's recovering from. Perhaps staying with the team he knows is the best plan for Godwin at this time. |

Carolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette (foot) underwent foot surgery after the team's season ended after he dealt with foot discomfort during the season.
Footballguys view: Legette still has upside after a disappointing rookie season where he battled through a toe and wrist injury. He should be able to run soon, and a healthy Legette in training camp could help QB Bryce Young continue to thrive. |
Buffalo Bills WR Khalil Shakir agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $60.2 million - including $32 million guaranteed at signing - on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Footballguys view: Shakir is a favorite target of QB Josh Allen, so extending him (now through the 2029 season) makes sense. In 2024, Shakir led the team in catches and yardage. While mainly a no.2 receiver, Shakir gets volume targets from Allen and that makes him a weekly WR3/flex option for Fantasy GMs. |
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (wrist) had surgery to repair a ligament in his left wrist Tuesday, Feb. 25, and will be ready for training camp.
Footballguys view: Hill was up in his feelings after the season ended for the Dolphins, but things seem to be patched up. He'll return this season as the Dolphins try to push for the postseason. After battling this nagging injury last year, a healthy Hill could once again be a threat (and a fantasy factor) in 2025. |

The San Francisco 49ers may consider releasing WR Deebo Samuel before his option bonus is due March 22, and designating him as a post-June 1 cut, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com. Under this scenario, the 49ers would have a dead cap hit of approximately $10.75 million in 2025 and about $20.8 million in 2026.
Footballguys view: Earlier this month, the 49ers gave Samuel permission to look for a trade but nothing has come to fruition. Now that it looks like nobody wants to trade for Samuel, the 49ers are looking at releasing him. We'll see if anything heats up in a potential trade market as teams get together at the Combine this week. |

Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf is coming off one of his worst seasons as a pro in 2024 (66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns). However, it appears one of the priorities for head coach Mike Macdonald when interviewing offensive coordinator candidates last month was how each one would not allow that to happen again.'We have to (maximize Metcalf). But we have to go through the process of how we do it. It's, how can you move him around? How you can take care of match-ups. The route tree that's available on how we want to build it,' Macdonald said.
