Link to storyLos Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford is seeking a new contract that pays him $50 million annually, according to sources Monday, Feb. 24.
Footballguys view: There are rumblings that at least three teams have expressed interest in trading for Stafford. If some team adds him via trade, they will most likely have a contract situation already in mind. The Steelers, Raiders, and Giants are among the teams rumored to be interested in the veteran quarterback. |

Link to storyOle Miss QB Jaxson Dart, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe and Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard are expected to throw at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Footballguys view: Dart is a darling of some in the draftnik community. He's a toosly quarterback, but perhaps not quite a first-round pick. Milroe has incredible physical tools, but he's not polished as a passer - which likely makes him a Day 2 pick. Leonard has all the leadership qualities teams love, but he might end up as a Day 3 selection. All three have something to prove, and that's why they're throwing at the Combine. |
Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty will only participate in medical evaluations and team interviews at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, according to his agent. He'll wait until Boise State's Pro Day to do on-field drills.
Footballguys view: Jeanty is seen as the clear-cut best back in this draft class. He draws comparisons to Eagles RB Saquon Barkley, although has a bit of a different body type. Jeanty may be a top-5 pick in this draft when it comes to talent and potential impact, but with such a deep running back class there's a chance he falls past no.10 in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. |
The San Francisco 49ers may consider releasing WR Deebo Samuel before his option bonus is due March 22, and designating him as a post-June 1 cut, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com. Under this scenario, the 49ers would have a dead cap hit of approximately $10.75 million in 2025 and about $20.8 million in 2026.
Footballguys view: Earlier this month, the 49ers gave Samuel permission to look for a trade but nothing has come to fruition. Now that it looks like nobody wants to trade for Samuel, the 49ers are looking at releasing him. We'll see if anything heats up in a potential trade market as teams get together at the Combine this week. |

Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift is expected to be on the team's roster in 2025, despite an underwhelming 2024 campaign statistically, according to ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. He is slated to make $8 million during the upcoming season, of which $6.11 million is fully guaranteed.
Footballguys view: Swift did not produce in the expected way last season, but the team has a contract situation that keeps him around for another year. We'll see if the Bears add another running back to the mix in the draft, as this is an incredibly deep class at the position. |

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders plans to only participate in team interviews during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine and will not participate in on-field drills. He does plan to throw at his Pro Day.
Footballguys view: There are four draftable receivers from Colorado that Sanders knows well. He's an advanced passer when it comes to accuracy and pass placement, so Sanders is likely to perform at a high level during his pro day. Teams need to interview Sanders more than they need to see him throw after over 900 passing attempts the last two seasons with the Buffaloes. |
