2023 Offseason News
Arizona Cardinals (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Expect a new offensive scheme with a new head coach and offensive coordinator.
- QB Kyler Murray is recovering from a knee injury and could end up missing several games.
- Colt McCoy or rookie Clayton Tune would start in his absence.
- WR DeAndre Hopkins signed with the Titans. Marquise Brown is now the top receiver.
Atlanta Falcons (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- QB Marcus Mariota is with the Eagles, so Desmond Ridder is the starter.
- They added Taylor Heinicke to back Ridder up.
- With the 8th pick of the draft, the Falcons selected Bijan Robinson, regarded as the most talented rookie running back in years.
- The addition of Robinson calls into question the workload for Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson.
- Former Raider WR Mack Hollins will play opposite Drake London.
- The team traded for TE Jonnu Smith, which could signal more time at wide receiver for Kyle Pitts.
Baltimore Ravens (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- A new offensive coordinator should mean more passing volume.
- QB Lamar Jackson got a new contract, ending any holdout worries.
- There might be questions about RB J.K. Dobbins' health.
- The team added RB Melvin Gordon III, who could play a similar role to Latavius Murray last year.
- There was an overhaul at wide receiver with the additions of Odell Beckham Jr and Nelson Agholor in free agency.
- The team also drafted WR Zay Flowers in the 1st round.
- It appears that WR Rashod Bateman is not 100% healthy.
Buffalo Bills (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- RB Devin Singletary is now in Houston, and Damien Harris will replace him to complement James Cook.
- WR Isaiah McKenzie was released and signed with Indianapolis.
- His role will be filled by either Deonte Harty or Khalil Shakir.
- Despite giving TE Dawson Knox a new contract last year, the Bills drafted Dalton Kincaid in the 1st round.
- Kincaid was viewed as the best receiving tight end in the draft and will play immediately.
Carolina Panthers (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Basically a new team for fantasy purposes, including head coach and play-caller.
- First-overall pick Bryce Young is the new quarterback.
- Miles Sanders will be the starting running back.
- Adam Thielen and D.J. Chark Jr now lead the receiving corps, as DJ Moore is now in Chicago.
- Hayden Hurst will start at tight end.
Chicago Bears (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The team traded for WR DJ Moore. A massive upgrade for Justin Fields.
- RB David Montgomery left town for Detroit.
- He will be replaced D'Onta Foreman and rookie Roschon Johnson to compete with Khalil Herbert.
Cincinnati Bengals (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- RB Samaje Perine is now in Denver. His duties will be split, but expectations are high for rookie Chase Brown.
- TE Irv Smith Jr. will replace Hayden Hurst, who signed in Carolina.
Cleveland Browns (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The only noteworthy departure was RB Kareem Hunt, who is still unsigned.
- Jerome Ford will likely take over as Nick Chubb's backup.
- The team traded for WR Elijah Moore and drafted WR Cedric Tillman in the 3rd round.
Dallas Cowboys (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- They let offensive coordinator Kellen Moore go, and head coach Mike McCarthy will call plays.
- RB Ezekiel Elliott is also gone but has yet to sign with another team.
- RB Tony Pollard's role should expand, as they added no significant backup.
- Brandin Cooks is the new No. 2 wide receiver.
- TE Dalton Schultz signed in Houston. Look for Jake Ferguson or rookie Luke Schoonmaker to replace him.
Denver Broncos (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Sean Payton replaces Nathaniel Hackett as head coach and play-caller.
- RB Javonte Williams is recovering from his knee injury and seems ready for 2023.
- The team added Samaje Perine to back Williams up.
- WR Tim Patrick was looking good in camp but likely tore his Achilles.
- WR KJ Hamler was released after discovering a heart issue. He could return but will have trouble making the final roster.
- These developments could pave the way for rookie WR Marvin Mims Jr. to have a role in 2023.
Detroit Lions (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- They traded RB D'Andre Swift to Philadelphia, and RB Jamaal Williams signed with New Orleans.
- To replace them, Detroit signed David Montgomery in free agency and drafted Jahmyr Gibbs in the 1st round.
- WR Jameson Williams will serve a six-game suspension for gambling.
- WR Marvin Jones Jr returns to play opposite Amon-Ra St. Brown.
- Rookie TE Sam LaPorta should be the new starting tight end.
Green Bay Packers (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- QB Aaron Rodgers is now with the Jets, and Jordan Love will be the starter.
- The team selected WR Jayden Reed and TE Luke Musgrave early in the draft. Both should start right away.
Houston Texans (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Plenty of changes in Houston, starting with a new coach and play-caller.
- Second-overall pick C.J. Stroud will be the starting quarterback.
- While Dameon Pierce remains the top running back, Devin Singletary will play a 1b role.
- WR Brandin Cooks is now in Dallas. Nico Collins should top the receiving depth chart.
- Last year's 2nd-round pick WR John Metchie III is ready to play after beating his 2022 cancer diagnosis.
- WR Robert Woods joined via free agency, and the team drafted WR Nathaniel Dell in the 3rd round.
- Dalton Schultz is the new starting tight end.
Indianapolis Colts (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The changes in Indianapolis begin with a new coach and quarterback.
- QB Anthony Richardson was the fourth-overall pick and will presumably start from Day 1.
- Isaiah McKenzie and rookie Josh Downs will compete for the slot receiver role since Parris Campbell signed with the Giants.
Jacksonville Jaguars (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- WR Calvin Ridley returns after his one-year suspension. It will be his first time on the field since Week 7, 2021, with the Falcons.
- The Jaguars used a 3rd-round pick on RB Tank Bigsby to back up Travis Etienne Jr.
Kansas City Chiefs (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Last year's top receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster, signed with the Patriots.
- While the team drafted WR Rashee Rice in the 2nd round, he will have competition for playing time
- Justyn Ross looks healthy after injuries took away his rookie season.
- WR Richie James signed after a good season with the Giants.
Las Vegas Raiders (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Jimmy Garoppolo will start at quarterback, as Derek Carr is now with the Saints.
- RB Josh Jacobs could not get a new contract and was instead Franchise Tagged.
- There is at least a threat that Jacobs will hold out rather than play on the one-year deal.
- The team signed WR Jakobi Meyers to play opposite Davante Adams.
- There was a transformation at tight end after they traded Darren Waller to the Giants.
- In free agency, they signed Austin Hooper, and Michael Mayer was the Raiders' 2nd-round pick.
Los Angeles Chargers (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The major change here is at offensive coordinator, as the team brought in Kellen Moore from Dallas.
- They did add an excellent young receiver, Quentin Johnston, in the 1st round of the draft.
- There is a lingering contract dispute to monitor with Austin Ekeler. He could hold out, and they have little depth at running back.
Los Angeles Rams (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The best changes the Rams can hope for are a healthy Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp.
- At wide receiver, the team traded Allen Robinson II to Pittsburgh after one lousy year.
- They have done little to replace him, though 5th-round pick Puka Nacua could be a fun addition.
Miami Dolphins (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- TE Mike Gesicki signed with New England. Miami will look to replace him with Durham Smythe.
- While the team re-signed every running back from last year, they also drafted DeVon Achane in the 3rd round.
- Braxton Berrios will be the new third receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Minnesota Vikings (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The team released RB Dalvin Cook after not being able to trade him. He is unsigned as of this writing.
- Alexander Mattison will assume the lead-back role.
- WR Adam Thielen signed in Carolina after the Vikings released him.
- The team spent a 1st-round pick on WR Jordan Addison. He should step into Thielen's vacated role immediately.
New England Patriots (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- After a year of experimentation, the Patriots hired Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator
- RB Damien Harris signed in Buffalo, so there is an open role behind Rhamondre Stevenson.
- Look for Pierre Strong Jr or Kevin Harris to see more playing time.
- With WR Jakobi Meyers signing in Las Vegas, the Patriots added JuJu Smith-Schuster to lead their receiving corps.
- After a disappointing stint in New England, the team traded TE Jonnu Smith to Atlanta.
- They signed Mike Gesicki to replace him and complement Hunter Henry.
New Orleans Saints (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Derek Carr will be the new starting quarterback, sliding Jameis Winston to a reserve role.
- There is a threat of suspension for Alvin Kamara, thought to be 2-4 games.
- The team did bolster their running back depth, adding Jamaal Williams in free agency and Kendre Miller in the draft.
- There is hope that WR Michael Thomas is finally healthy.
New York Giants (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The most critical news happened recently, with RB Saquon Barkley agreeing to a one-year deal to avoid a holdout.
- They added two wide receivers in free agency: Parris Campbell and Cole Beasley.
- They also drafted Jalin Hyatt in the 3rd round.
- These moves were necessary as neither Wan'Dale Robinson nor Sterling Shepard is fully healthy from 2022 injuries.
- At tight end, Darren Waller came to New York via trade and is a favorite to lead the team in receiving.
New York Jets (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- It's a Packers reunion, as the Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator and traded for QB Aaron Rodgers.
- Rodgers brought friends as the team added Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb to their wide receiver room.
- They also signed WR Mecole Hardman Jr.
- These moves made Elijah Moore and Denzel Mims expendable. They traded them to Cleveland and Detroit, respectively.
Philadelphia Eagles (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- RB Miles Sanders signed in Carolina during free agency.
- To replace him, the Eagles added Rashaad Penny and struck a deal for D'Andre Swift from the Lions.
Pittsburgh Steelers (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- Allen Robinson II is the new third receiver after a trade with the Rams.
- The team spent a 3rd round pick on TE Darnell Washington to back up Pat Freiermuth.
San Francisco 49ers (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The team finally parted ways with QB Jimmy Garoppolo, who signed with the Raiders.
- While QB Brock Purdy appears to be the anointed starter, his health is questionable after his playoff injury.
- QB Trey Lance is still here, but trade rumors have swirled all offseason.
- The team added Sam Darnold in case Purdy cannot start the season healthy.
Seattle Seahawks (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- In the 1st round of the draft, the team made Jaxon Smith-Njigba the first receiver selected.
- Expect him to play alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett immediately.
- Then, in the 2nd round, they added running back depth by selecting Zach Charbonnet to complement Kenneth Walker.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- A new offensive coordinator will begin life after Tom Brady.
- With Brady's retirement, Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask will vie for the starting quarterback role.
- The team released RB Leonard Fournette, who is still unsigned.
- Rachaad White becomes the lead back, with Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Chase Edmonds backing him up.
Tennessee Titans (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- The Titans hired a new offensive coordinator, so expect scheme changes.
- The new coach has a great weapon to utilize, as WR DeAndre Hopkins chose to sign with the Titans.
- The team selected a rookie quarterback for the second-straight draft. Will Levis will presumably back up Ryan Tannehill.
Washington Commanders (Footballguys Full Team Projections)
- This season brings a new offensive coordinator and scheme for the Commanders.
- Last year's 5th-round pick, Sam Howell, takes over at quarterback.
