Wednesday Media Updates

***Unsurprisingly, the Cardinals are limiting Kyler Murray during early-week practices, choosing not to stress his throwing shoulder. Kliff Kingsbury said the team wanted to see how his light throwing went on Wednesday. Observers reported Murray was throwing with more velocity than on Tuesday. Murray is likely to play but may have to show further recovery to be cleared for a full complement of rushing plays.

***Christian McCaffrey returned to a limited practice but is not expected to return until after the Panthers' Week 12 bye.

***Julio Jones returned to a limited practice after missing most of the second half last week with another aggravation of his left hamstring strain. If his injury responds well to the midweek workout, there's a chance he'll play effectively this week.

***Austin Ekeler was designated to return from practice but is likely to need a week of conditioning before being cleared to return. A limited Sunday role is possible but unlikely.

***Adam Thielen has reportedly tested negative after an early-week positive test. It's not clear whether Thielen is considered COVID+ or in a quarantine protocol. Mike Zimmer didn't sound certain of Thielen's status on Wednesday.

***Giovani Bernard missed practice while in concussion protocol but was cleared to talk to the media. A limited Thursday practice would put him on track to return if he does not develop recurrent symptoms.

***The Niners are hopeful Raheem Mostert (returned to practice), Tevin Coleman, and Deebo Samuel will all be cleared to play this week. All were limited in practice Wednesday.

***Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) fully practiced while Nick Foles (hip) did not on Wednesday. Matt Nagy told reporters his quarterback decision would be made based on health and availability. Wednesday's workout suggests Trubisky will get the start.

***Salvon Ahmed returned to play last week after a shoulder injury but did not practice and did not speak with the media. His status is in doubt.

Here are the key offensive players listed on the practice participation or game status report for Thursday Night Football:

Houston at Detroit

***Detroit ruled out Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola. DAndre Swift is listed questionable to return from a concussion after two limited practices. It's not yet clear whether the Lions sent him for an independent neurologist exam. If they did, he's likely to be cleared to play and should see a full workload. Watch for overnight updates.

***The Texans are without Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills this week.

Washington at Dallas

***Washington has Terry McLaurin listed questionable despite two consecutive full practices. He's expected to play.

Early week practice participation and playing expectations

The Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports are our first chance to see which players each NFL team is limiting in practice after the previous week's games. Players limited in mid-week practice aren't necessarily in danger of missing that week's game. But they all need to be watched closely.
