Know Your Opposition
If you want to finish at the top of the standings in a mid-to-large field GPP, your roster has to stand out from the crowd. Studying a list of projected roster percentages is a helpful first step, but it lacks the context of how the most popular players fit together under the salary cap.
To gain some insight into how the majority of entrants will allocate their cap space, so you can spend yours differently, let’s think about how the public is most likely to attack roster construction at each position.
Slate Overview- Week 1 Thoughts
Week 1 for GPP’s can be a fantastic way to pivot away from the crowd. Essentially the fantasy football industry has been waiting for Week 1 for 7 months, building up the players that they like or dislike. With that comes a perceived bias when DFS pricing is released, because everything thinks that they know more than what they truly know. As players are a year older, new coaching staffs, new rosters, etc all come into play now more than ever as preseason has become even more irrelevant with fewer players actually playing.
The way to approach Week 1, is to find a game that people may not be thinking about, and targeting that contest. We will talk about a few of the games throughout this article that you could target, but roster % is so critical in Week 1 as
Key Injuries for Week 1
This is a surprising week of injuries, as it seems like there are more uncertain injury situations than in prior years.
- Jerry Jeudy is questionable, although looking more doubtful as the Broncos called up Phillip Dorsett and Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad indicating that Jeudy could be out. If Jeudy is out, both Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims become interesting plays this week.
- Tight end is a complete mess. Mark Andrews is questionable, if he is out Isaiah Likely could become a deep sleeper, while George Kittle looks like he may miss this week. Kittle’s injury does not do much, other than consolidate some of the work to Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel which should elevate them slightly in what could be a low scoring game against the Steelers.
- The Packers wide receiver room has been decimated with injuries. Christian Watson has been ruled out, Romeo Doubs is questionable which would leave Jayden Reed as the primary receiver although it should help the running backs particularly Aaron Jones who may be relied upon more as a receiver.
- It looks like Zack Moss will miss this week as he is still dealing with an arm injury. This should bode well for Deon Jackson to see more volume, although the matchup is a somewhat difficult one for the Colts this week as they take on the high-powered Jaguars offense.

Trevor Lawrence, Calvin Ridley
This could be a big offensive explosion for the Jaguars going into Week 1 against the Colts to make a statement that they are a contender this season. The Colts have one of the worst secondaries in football this season, as they are in a rebuilding mode allowing Stefon Gilmore, Isaiah Rodgers, and Brandon Facyson to all leave the team this offseason. The Colts are going to have to rely on three very unproven corners in Darrell Baker Jr, JuJu Brents, and Dallis Flowers, neither of which have significant experience as Darrell Baker Jr and JuJu Brents are in their rookie season. Ridley is underpriced and overlooked this week, as recency bias may be getting to him a little bit as people forgot just how great he was prior to his injury, and then suspension. Back in 2020, Ridley had 1,374 yards and he is still just 28 years old.
