Most leagues begin their playoffs in Week 15. However, some will begin as early as Week 14. We have reached the point in the season where you have at least one more week, and maybe two, to jockey for positioning in your league's playoff bracket. Fantasy Football post-Thanksgiving is when you want to have your roster primed for postseason play. Next week, I'll share my thoughts on how to win in the playoffs. What strategies can you use? What matchups should you target? What resources can help you put your team over the top, plus much more? This week, let's dig into some helpful, revealing, interesting stats and tidbits that you can file away as nuggets of information for future weeks or a strategy that may be to your advantage next season. Plus, for those who play player props, I have some interesting stats broken down by half.
DID YOU KNOW?
- The Packers score a rushing touchdown once every 291 rushing yards, the highest in the league. The Lions score a rushing touchdown once every 89 rushing yards, the lowest in the league.
- The Bears have the lowest passing yardage in the league, with 1,574 yards. Interestingly enough, they have 14 touchdown passes, giving them a touchdown pass every 112 yards passing, the best in the league.
- Three teams in the top five for rushing yards have five wins or less (CHI, ATL, CLE). All five teams in the top five in passing yards average eight wins.
- Tom Brady is 4th in passing yards but 18th in fantasy. Kirk Cousins is 7th in passing yards but 14th in fantasy. Derek Carr is 8th in passing yards but 17th in fantasy. Jared Goff is 9th in passing yards but 20th in fantasy. All have fewer than 75 yards rushing.
- The top 10 quarterbacks in rushing yards are all ranked in the top 15 for fantasy points.
- Every quarterback averaging over 200 yards passing per game also averages at least one touchdown pass per game, except one - Russell Wilson.
- In only six pass attempts, Jordan Love has a longer longest pass (63 yards) than Aaron Rodgers (58) this season.
- Two quarterbacks (min 100 attempts) average 300+ yards passing this year. One is Patrick Mahomes II (325.9), and the other is Joe Flacco (300.3).
- The Falcons are one of two teams to have more rushing yards than passing yards, but maybe Marcus Mariota should throw more. His completed air yards per completion is 7.0. Only Tua Tagovailoa and Josh Allen are higher at 7.5 and 8.5, respectively.
- The Saints have nine rushing touchdowns, and Taysom Hill is the only player with more than one, including Alvin Kamara.
- The Vikings are 1-for-6 on field goal attempts of 50 yards or more and a perfect 15-for-15 on field goal attempts of less than 50 yards.
- Also, the Vikings (and the Raiders) have not had a single punt result in a touchback this season.
- The Falcons have scored a touchdown on a kick return, a fumble recovery, an interception, and a blocked kick. They just need a punt return touchdown for the royal flush.
