Know Your Opposition
If you want to finish at the top of the standings in a mid-to-large field GPP, your roster has to stand out from the crowd. Studying a list of projected roster percentages is a helpful first step, but it lacks the context of how the most popular players fit together under the salary cap.
To gain some insight into how the majority of entrants will allocate their cap space, so you can spend yours differently, let’s think about how the public is most likely to attack roster construction at each position.
Key Injuries for Week 10
- Dameon Pierce will be out this week. While Devin Singletary may become popular, he has not shown an ability in Houston to carry the workload for Houston.
- Nico Collins will be out this week, this should open up opportunities for Tank Dell who will be very popular, but Noah Brown should once again have an upside at just $3,700.
- Tee Higgins will miss this week while Ja’Marr Chase is questionable. This should make Tyler Boyd an excellent GPP play this week. Trent Irwin at minimum price is also interesting especially if Chase misses. Irwin saw 76% of the snaps when Higgins while seeing 10 targets in that game.
Slate Overview- Week 10 Thoughts- Be Uncomfortable
This is a week where your lineups are likely not going to feel great when you put them in. It seems that this week is the perfect combination of players in difficult matchups, combined with high-volume/low-efficiency players such as Tony Pollard and Joe Mixon in great matchups, but with high prices.
This is a week where you’re going to want to try to envision upside scenarios. Try to find the player or team that has been struggling as of late that could bounce back and will go somewhat overlooked. This is ultimately going to feel uncomfortable, as no one likes to take the player on the recent downswing, but being able to properly forecast the bounce-back spot is often better than point chasing where you take the player who had their breakout last week.

Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin
Last week, the Commanders had one of their best defensive performances of the season as they held the Patriots to just 220 passing yards. However, the big number in that game was the zero sacks that the Commanders had which continues to highlight the big questions that they will have to answer heading into this game. With the Commanders trading away both Montez Sweat and Chase Young, it leaves significant holes in their pass rush which has the 5th-fewest sacks on the season. Without those two players, it is going to be a challenge to consistently rush the passer which should give Geno Smith plenty of time to find Metcalf downfield.
We haven’t seen the big game from Metcalf just yet this season, but there are some signs that it is coming. Metcalf had 23 targets in the 2 games prior to last week’s game against the Ravens in which the Seahawks were not competitive from the start. If we can get 10+ targets again this week, he will likely see most of them against Benjamin St. Juste who is allowing the 5th-most receiving yards this NFL season.
