For Real/Fool's Gold

Which two of these September Wonders are for real in 2022, which two are Fool's Gold?

Chad Parsons: Carson Wentz and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are for real. For Wentz, the Washington offense has plenty of easy yards and, the biggest key, their weapons are healthy. Curtis Samuel is a significant piece to this offense from a pressure standpoint. Samuel is being used like a discount rack Deebo Samuel. He must be accounted for every snap with his location and movement. I have questions about which part of the Washington offense will be the most productive weekly, but in those settings, the answer is typically all roads lead to the quarterback, the point guard, and the distributor of fantasy points.

Edwards-Helaire has been the clear starter for the Chiefs. His snap counts and market share have been lower than desired on paper through two weeks, but part of that is the blowout game script in Week 1 and missing time with his leg being stepped on in-game during Week 2. So many have built-up scar tissue with Edwards-Helaire in the fantasy space that he will typically be underrated going forward and a faction will push him down regardless of the new information we receive on him and his situation.

It is tough to believe Flacco will continue to start once Zach Wilson is ready to return to the lineup. Like Jimmy Garoppolo vs. Trey Lance in San Francisco, I am a big believer in siding with the veteran who has "been there and done" that over the possibility of the low-floor outcome of an inexperienced option. Flacco is probably best for the Jets and their weapons, but his starts are numbered going forward.

Brown was one of the nice games to come out of Week 2. But Michael Gallup is returning to the lineup soon, and I would expect Jalen Tolbert to see more opportunities by midseason. If Dalton Schultz were to miss extended time (not projected at the time of publication) the calculus of target distribution could change here, but Brown is more of a possible streamer until Gallup is back more than anything substantial.
