Buy Low
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GB - Rodgers is playing well, especially off of play-action, and only a strong second-half performance by the Vikings defense kept him from a bigger Week 2. Starting off against Chicago and Minnesota is masking that Rodgers will be back to form this year sooner than later.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, GB - As Rodgers rises so will Valdes-Scantling. He’s still getting a ton of looks downfield and it’s taking good defensive plays to keep those from turning into long gains. Against lesser defenses, big games are coming for Valdes-Scantling.
Kenyan Drake, RB, MIA - If you’ve coveted Drake before in a dynasty league, this is the time to grab him. He will be on a new team next year andwhile it could be a letdown, it could also be a launching pad. He might get traded soon, which could close the buy low window depending on the situation he lands in.
Will Fuller, WR, HOU - Fuller is still getting downfield shot from Deshaun Watson and he is bound to break one or two for a score one of these weeks. He could draw a rookie corner against the Chargers this week, so get in low while you can.
Devin Smith, WR, DAL - Smith was once a second-round pick with a highwire act in the deep passing game as his calling card. He hasn’t been healthy in a long time, but now that he is, he’s the top vertical threat in the robust Cowboys passing game, and now he’ll get more opportunity while Michael Gallup is out.
David Moore, WR, SEA - Moore is close to playing again and he should be the #3 receiver in short order and in position to start if DK Metcalf misses time. He’s only a very deep league stash, but one to watch after he made multiple excellent plays on aspirational Russell Wilson downfield passes last year.
Rashard Higgins, WR, CLE - He had 46 yards on two catches on the first drive of 2019 before getting hurt. He could pick up where he left off in his return this week.
Buy High
D.J. Chark, WR, JAX - I’ll admit to being nonchalant about Chark’s Week 1 despite the deep speed and outstanding touchdown catch because of the Nick Foles injury. Chark continued to look like a new man in Week 2, teleporting around the field and catching the ball with focus and ease. He’s gonna be a really good one if he keeps this up. I dealt Tyrell Williams for him in a dynasty league.
Devin Singletary, RB, BUF - This hamstring injury is only a temporary obstacle for Singletary. He has jumped off of the screen. Use this pause to make an inquiry before the real possibilities for him this year and beyond set in the fantasy football hive mind.
Sell High
Antonio Brown, WR, NE - Who knows if he’ll end up on the commissioner’s exempt list or not. What’s the reward here? In more competitive games, Brown could rack up catches as the #1 target in the offense. How many competitive games is this team going to have this year? If you can get his original third-round value in redraft or some good assets in dynasty, this pause in the Antonio Brown saga might be a good moment to sell him. UPDATE: Brown has been released, sell high window is closed
Tyrell Williams, WR, OAK - Williams is off to a good start, but can he keep it going against Xavier Rhodes and other matchups where he will be more stressed in his matchup against a possible shutdown corner? We’re still counting on Derek Carr to sustain his value. See if you can make a lateral move to a younger receiver with a higher ceiling.
Deep Dynasty Opportunity Knocks
Keep these players in mind when filling bottom-of-the-roster spots in deep dynasty leagues. They could make good on opportunities this week and enhance their standing and value.
Darwin Thompson, Darrel Williams, RB, KC - One of the most potent backfields in the league already has two injured players
Jordan Wilkins, RB, IND - Wilkins' yards per carry stood out in limited action last year, and his long run helped the team win last week. He could make an impression with a larger workload if Marlon Mack is out.
Taysom Hill, Teddy Bridgewater, QB, NO - Hill is the exciting commodity here as a running quarterback who might be adequate as a passer and situation himself as the heir to Drew Brees. Sean Payton seems to like him more than the football media does.
Demetrius Harris, TE, CLE - Harris has a basketball background and will get the lion’s share of tight end targets in Cleveland for a month or month. Pharaoh Brown behind him was also an interesting dynasty prospect before a serious leg injury derailed his career.
Mason Rudolph, QB, PIT - Rudolph’s ceiling is probably decent or serviceable in NFL quarterbacking terms, but those guys can make 20+ million a year in today’s NFL on the open market once they prove they can hang as a starter.
Robert Tonyan Jr, TE, GB - He's a former wide receiver and Aaron Rodgers was talking him up this summer. If Jimmy Graham is out he could make a splash
Kyle Allen, QB, CAR - Allen wasn’t terrible in his start last year and he’ll face a soft Arizona defense.
Mack Hollins, WR, PHI - Hollins has some size and good enough speed. A lot more attention will be on J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in the fantasy world, but Hollins game is closer to making an impact than the rookie.
Raheem Mostert, Jeffery Wilson, RB, SF - Hopefully Mostert was picked up this week (also Demarcus Robinson), but he’s worth a spot even in short bench dynasty now. He could assert himself as the most durable back and part of the picture long term. Wilson’s goal-line role gives him a puncher’s chance at relevance and he could easily be the last man standing in December once again.
Luke Falk, QB, NYJ - Falk is a long shot, but every quarterback with an opportunity should be rostered in 2QB/Superflex leagues.
Gerald Everett, TE, LAR - The former second-round pick could see more targets after Tyler Higbee was coughing up blood last week.
