There are many great fantasy football resources throughout the vast space of the Internet. Almost all of them provide rankings on a weekly basis. But almost none of them customize the rankings to your league's scoring system. Insiders can input their league's scoring system into MyFBG and have it save so that cheatsheets, rankings, and projections can be customized to your league scoring and rosters (more on that later). Many resources rank players in standard scoring leagues. What about PPR leagues? What about half-point per reception? What about leagues that give tight ends 1.5 points per reception? Rankings become almost useless without the context of a scoring system.
Many fantasy footballers are in multiple leagues, and rarely do two leagues have the exact same scoring. MyFBG allows you to enter multiple scoring systems, set one as a default, and toggle between them when viewing cheatsheets and projections. This is a great feature if one league is a PPR league and another is standard – a situation that many fantasy players have.
The Fantasy Points Allowed feature at Footballguys can also be customized by scoring system. If owners have one league where one point is earned by 25 passing yards and another where one point is earned every 50, the points allowed can vary greatly. The same goes for four-point passing TDs vs. six-point passing TDs. Knowing what teams are giving up the most points is important information. Knowing how they gave up those points is critical.
For anyone who likes to trade (and let's be honest – after the draft, the most fun part of fantasy football is trading because the draft and trading are where owners have full control), the Top 200 Going Forward is an extremely useful tool. Looking to trade some wide receiver depth for an elite running back? You can compare players of multiple positions against one another.
Again, other websites provide similar lists, but MyFBG allows the one at footballguys.com to be fully customized by scoring system. That’s an incredibly valuable tool that can be used at any point in the season.
new feature this season: Link and synch your leagues
A new feature of MyFBG this season is the ability to sync your already customized scoring settings with your league rosters.
- Click on the MyFBG option in the top menu header (shown below in red); then click on the “Manage rosters, or link your profiles with an online league” link (shown below in green)
- Using Step 1, enter league name, scoring parameters that apply and click submit at the bottom.
- After submitting, click the link next to the question “Do you want to add players to this profile?” That link is shown in the screen shot below.
If you use any of the fantasy league services shown in the screen shot below, such as MyFantasyLeague.com, ESPN, CBS, NFL.com, RTSports, FFPC, FleaFlicker or Yahoo, you’ll be able to bring your rosters into the MyFBG feature.
Using the MyFantasyLeague.com option and the Footballguys Staff Dynasty League, here’s how it’s done:
- Enter the URL for your league where asked and the click “Next.” NOTE: Not all leagues ask for just a URL. Some will ask for the league ID or other relevant information.
- Verify that your league information is correct, select your team, and click “Finish.”
- Your roster will show up on the next page. Click “Back to MyFBG.”
- Under Step 3, select the league you want to link from the appropriate drop-down window, then click “Submit.” See screen shot below.
viewing customized information
Now that you have created a league profile(s) and synched them with your league software, you can now view custom stats, information, cheatsheets, strength of schedule, etc specific to each profile you created. Simply select what you want from the drop down boxes (see below). You also can view the status of your Subscriber contest here.
finding free agents
When you select a particular cheatsheet to view (in the case below, I selected Cornerback), it will provide you with a ranked list of players from that position. The best part is, with a synched league, it will show you which players are yours and which are available free agents. This is very helpful, in that it not only gives you an indication of which free agents are available, but also where they fall in the rankings.
The MyFBG feature of Footballguys is one of the best features on a site that provides many great ones. The customization – especially now that you can sync your leagues – is second to none in the business. The benefit of this feature is to give you extra added knowledge when it comes to selecting your roster, finding free agents, using strength of schedule, etc. If you are an avid user of this feature, I'm sure you're pleased. If you haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet, I highly recommend doing so and keeping it handy throughout the fantasy football season.
