Rounds 4-7 of the 2024 NFL Draft has concluded. This article will detail the selected players relevant in your dynasty leagues. Specifically, we will look at the team that drafted the player and the surrounding environment. This article will address superflex leagues and points per reception (PPR) scoring.
Fourth-Round Dynasty Selections
Wide Receivers
- 4.102 - Troy Franklin, Denver Broncos
- Franklin fell in the draft, but pairs with his college teammate Bo Nix. The established chemistry will bode well for the rookies. There is an opportunity for Franklin to claim the WR2 role, with potential to be the WR1 if Courtland Sutton is traded.
- 4.110 - Javon Baker, New England Patriots
- Baker's skill set appears to fit pleasantly with rookie quarterback Drake Maye. He potentially has a chance to outproduce second-round rookie Ja'Lynn Polk.
- 4.113 - Devontez Walker, Baltimore Ravens
- Walker has an opportunity to claim the WR2 role. Can be the field stretcher (4.36 speed) for Baltimore, a boom-or-bust type asset.
- 4.135 - Jacob Cowing, San Francisco 49ers
- Durable player who did not miss a game. May work from the slot and offers 4.38 speed and lateral agility for Kyle Shanahan to utilize. Currently on the outside looking in for touches.
Running Backs
- 4.120 - Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins
- Miami only cares about speed. Another weapon for Mike McDaniel to pair with De'Von Achane.
- 4.127 - Will Shipley, Philadelphia Eagles
- An intriguing landing spot. Shipley will need to beat out Kenneth Gainwell for the RB2 role and may just win the competition. He noted his knee is fully recovered from his bowl game injury.
- 4.128 - Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills
- Davis may find meaningful work in Buffalo, specifically with goal-line touches. A short-yardage guy who can handle outlet passing duties.
- 4.129 - Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers
- San Francisco traded up to land the 221-pound, 4.33-speed running back. Ceiling could be a Raheem Mostert-type player.
- 4.132 - Sione Vaki, Detroit Lions
- Vaki's primary position is safety but was drafted as a running back, at least it was announced that way. It should be noted he played seven games at the running back position, totaling 520 scrimmage yards (9.8 yards per touch) with five touchdowns. This feels like a Brad Holmes (GM) player.
- 4.134 - Braelon Allen, New York Jets
- Not an ideal landing spot for dynasty purposes. Great for the Jets.
Tight Ends
- 4.101 - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Carolina Panthers
- First pick of the fourth round. Has the opportunity to win the TE1 job and has good athleticism. Will need to beat out Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas.
- 4.107 - Theo Johnson, New York Giants
- Is Darren Waller retired? Johnson will compete with Daniel Bellinger for the TE1 job.
- 4.115 - Erick All, Cincinnati Bengals
- No official 40 time. However, All displayed game speed on breakaway runs during games. Will develop behind Mike Gesicki. I am interested in this selection.
- 4.121 - AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks
- Will develop behind Noah Fant, who signed a two-year extension. Barner is a noted hard worker and has above-average athleticism. Could be a solid taxi-squad stash.
- 4.123 - Cade Stover, Houston Texans
- Will develop behind Dalton Schultz, who will be a Texan through the 2025 season. Stover has above-average athleticism and can be a solid taxi-squad stash. Reunites with C.J. Stroud (OSU).
- 4.131 - Jared Wiley, Kansas City Chiefs
- Good athleticism and in a perfect situation to develop behind the aging Travis Kelce. Another solid taxi-squad stash for obvious reasons.
Rounds 5-7 Dynasty Selections
The previous articles broke down every selection. I figured the fourth round was the last meaningful round to break down each player. The remaining rounds will be complied into their positions and may contain a note where I found it appropriate.
Wide Receivers
- 5.142 - Anthony Gould, Indianapolis Colts
- Depth player with 4.39 speed. Potential returner for the new kick-off rules.
- 5.152 - Ainias Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
- Dynamic after the catch and had a 30-visit with Philadelphia. They got a player they wanted and can fill the slot role.
- 5.156 - Jamari Thrash, Cleveland Browns
- 5.170 - Bub Means, New Orleans Saints
- Raw athlete who has the speed to win downfield. Questions in the depth chart outside of Chris Olave.
- 6.182 - Jha'Quan Jackson, Tennessee Titans
- 6.184 - Malik Washington, Miami Dolphins
- A great landing spot despite the draft capital. Potential to emerge as their WR3 this season.
- 6.185 - Johnny Wilson, Philadelphia Eagles
- Eagles double-dip on late-round wide receivers. Wilson has a large frame (6-foot-6) and you may see theories he may convert to tight end.
- 6.187 - Casey Washington, Atlanta Falcons
- 6.191 - Tejhaun Palmer, Arizona Cardinals
- 6.213 - Jordan Whittington, Los Angeles Rams
- 6.216 - Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys
- I see no reason why Flournoy cannot claim the WR2 role at some point this season.
- 7.225 - Brenden Rice, Los Angeles Chargers
- 7.235 - Devaughn Vele, Denver Broncos
- Big frame (6-foot-4) and may be a Courtland Sutton replacement.
- 7.241 - Tahj Washington, Miami Dolphins
- 7.253 - Cornelius Johnson, Los Angeles Chargers
Running Backs
You will always need depth at the running back position. There is an opportunity for a running back to find meaningful work within these rounds. This typically happens when injuries happen to the players ahead on the depth chart.
- 5.147 - Audric Estime, Denver Broncos
- Not a flashy player, can be an early-down asset as a tough inside runner.
- 5.165 - Rasheen Ali, Baltimore Ravens
- 5.166 - Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants
- Speedy, agile running back looking to claim the RB2 role. Will be turning 24 this season.
- 5.167 - Keilan Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Jacksonville alluded to wanting to keep Travis Etienne Jr. healthy, specifically with getting Tank Bigsby more work. Makes sense they want added depth.
- 5.173 - Isaiah Davis, New York Jets
- 6.181 - Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers
- Small school product finds himself in an interesting situation. Jim Harbaugh loves to run the ball; the team added Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins in the offseason. Vidal has an opportunity to claim a role.
- 6.186 - Jase McClellan, Atlanta Falcons
- 6.205 - Jawhar Jordan, Houston Texans
- 6.208 - Dylan Laube, Las Vegas Raiders
- Can be a pass-catching threat; had 143 career receptions in college. Will be turning 25 this season.
Tight Ends
- 6.194 - Tanner McLachlan, Cincinnati Bengals
- Cincinnati double-dips at tight end. They know they need to develop a future player.
- 7.231 - Jaheim Bell, New England Patriots
- Undersized at the position. Had more rushing yards (261) than receiving yards (231) in the 2022 season.
- 7.246 - Devin Culp, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Fastest tight end in the draft with 4.47 speed.
Quarterbacks
It is rare to find a late-round quarterback who will eventually find meaningful playing time. Brock Purdy laughs at the statement. That does not mean you cannot find a player who can contribute in other ways.
- 5.150 - Spencer Rattler, New Orleans
- A new development project as Derek Carr may only be the Saints' quarterback through the 2025 season. New Orleans will save $50M in 2026 with an $11.5M dead cap if they decide to move on from Carr.
- 5.171 - Jordan Travis, New York Jets
- Great opportunity to take a developmental year. Suffered a devastating ankle injury; it is good to see the Jets believe in him.
- 6.193 - Joe Milton III, New England Patriots
- 6.218 - Devin Leary, Baltimore Ravens
- 7.245 - Michael Pratt, Green Bay Packers
Dynasty - Final Thoughts
The fourth-round NFL Draft selections have a higher probability of finding relevant players for your dynasty teams. This does not mean a player drafted in the later rounds cannot. I was surprised to see a player like Malik Washington (WR) fall to the sixth round. I was pleased to see his landing spot and potential opportunity to claim a role.
The remaining rounds to end the draft are just like how I am with my dynasty selections. Teams are taking their dart throws and hoping for the best. These players will try to provide an opportunity on special teams or a rotational role. However, there is no guarantee for a drafted player to claim a roster spot.
Dynasty Rookie Draft - Thoughts
The first three rounds concluded with 28 dynasty-relevant players selected. The fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft concluded with four wide receivers and five tight ends being selected, with five running backs selected, excluding Sione Vaki, who likely will help as a safety.
- Tight ends are intriguing as there is an opportunity for development
- Ja'Tavion Sanders and Theo Johnson could push for an immediate role
- The wide receivers are intriguing as there is an opportunity for an immediate role
- The running backs are intriguing as it is important to have depth, whether an NFL team or a dynasty roster
The remaining rounds of the draft are teams filling needs. This could mean special teams or a potential role player like the aforementioned Washington selection for Miami. Including the fourth-round selections from the NFL Draft, we have 43 total dynasty-relevant players, which accounts for 89.5% of a standard four-round rookie draft. Remember, this does not include any players taken from the remaining rounds.
There is value to be found within the late rounds of your rookie drafts. The late rounds of your rookie drafts are for educated guesses. You will need to identify a player's strengths and cross-reference to their respective drafted team's scheme and depth chart. Then, cross your fingers and hope for the best.
