Random Shots From Week 13

Joe Bryant's Random Shots From Week 13 Joe Bryant Published 12/07/2022

Hi Folks,

We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful, and serious features here at Footballguys, with smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

This is Random Shots, and it's a few pages of me downloading my brain that gets stuffed with way too many random items from too many hours watching, reading about, and listening to Football every weekend and throughout the week. It's the only way I manage. Here's hoping it has some value for you.

We'll see. Now let's get to it.

J

If a fantasy football season were nine seconds like this video, we're about six and half seconds in. So far, feels accurate.

Make sure to have the sound on.

The Waddle's made the jump to International Soccer.

Thanks to Eric Parvin for that one.

A throwback reminder to "Things Often Take Care Of Themselves."

Steve Spurrier was (rightfully) furious when the officials made a terrible call giving Michigan the first down.

Jadeveon Clowney took matters into his own hands on the next play.

Mike McDaniel understands the 2022 version of the NFL...

On the flip side, this is wild:

A California high school won its state championship last weekend without completing a pass, not only in the game but for the entire season. Full story here.

Josh Allen, you're kind of ridiculous.

The Vikings got a coach.

I was with my buddy, Jeff.

But then I was with my buddy, Joey.

Things change pretty fast at this level.

Jalen Carter with the kindest/most aggressive thing I saw all week.

How it started:

How it's going.

Utah's quarterback, Cam Rising, was asked what he thought about it.

I can't do much about how the league decides things.

But I can do something about how I act as a fan. On that note, let's please not normalize stuff like this.

I made a bet that I'd shave my head if Deshaun Watson outscored Trevor Lawrence this week.

Lawrence wasn't good. But Watson was terrible.

Music note of the week is an old favorite, Dawes. The song is less of a song and more of an anthem for people who love music. And bands.

I'm not sure many lyrics hit me more than these:

I hope that life without a chaperone is what you thought it'd beI hope your brother's El Camino runs foreverI hope the world sees the same person that you've always been to meAnd may all your favorite bands stay together

That's about the sweetest thing I think you could say to someone.

The Jim Harbaugh Ref Cam was just what I needed.

Howie Long was not impressed with Detroit using Jameson Williams as a gunner on special teams.

If you're in your 40s or 50s like me, you remember the nostalgia of the old helmets. This is rad.

I said a while back I missed Jay Cutler.

And there he was.

If I were NFL Commissioner, I'd make these the Giants' regular uniforms.

The current College Football "playoffs" system with four teams picked like a beauty pageant is one of the dumbest things in sports.

But on the upside, it gives us endless material to work with.

Truth.

This kid's a player.

Celebrated his 8th birthday in style.

Dang, Najee Harris. That's just rude.

Washington by 100.

Heads up if you're in the endzone.

The Raiders are frustrating. They'll blow the easy games and then pull off plays like this.

Also, defensive back has to be the most challenging spot in sports. I'm not sure you could cover Adams much better than this.

Joe Burrow's face said it all here.

Football keeps Pete Carroll young.

I gave my soccer-loving friends a hard time during the World Cup about tie games and fake injuries.

Then we had the Commanders-Giants tie. And then this...

Aaron Rodgers is cold-blooded.

No, this didn't count.

Yes, Ja'Marr Chase is back.

The fact people (including me) had to ask if this was real says something about Steph Curry...

Here's another angle.

Also, if you ever see something too wild to be true from Ari Fararooy, it's probably not.

Wild stat from Peter King: Patrick Mahomes II is 0-3 against the Bengals since New Year’s Day and 12-3 against everyone else.

I love small companies doing big things. XTECH Protective Equipment is crushing it.

I don't do much volleyball content. But this is worth it.

And you knew someone would make the Jim Ross version...

Fantasy Football can be a cruel game.

Truth.

Wrapping with this one.

If you know me, you know I root for the Underdog. So I loved seeing Brock Purdy Sunday.

I think one of the things I love most about the NFL is this league is full of guys like this. And not just late-round picks. But players not even drafted at all. Don't let the powers that be define who you are, and set your value. They may skip over you until the last pick or not pick you at all. But you have a say in where you land. Make the most of it.

Rock on.

Thank you for being part of this goofy journey with us.

And thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Sigmund Bloom, Eric Parvin, and Clayton Gray for the help. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, email me at bryant@footballguys.com.

Thanks for playing along, and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.

Peace and Grace to you.

J
