The appeal of playing dynasty fantasy football is that you never fully stop building your rosters. There is always time to make moves to either help build a contender or rebuild your struggling roster. Now that the 2022 class has come and gone, it's time to start looking ahead to the 2023 class. This season, we will provide fantasy managers with a top-36 big board that will be updated weekly to reflect the top 36 draft-eligible players in college football. The hope is that this big board will give you actual names and values to any draft picks you are trying to trade or acquire.
Standout Performances
RB Kenny McIntosh (Sr - Georgia): 6-foot-1, 210 lbs
This is McIntosh’s first appearance on the big board this season, and to be honest, it’s long overdue. McIntosh has stepped up for the Bulldogs this season and has looked like the best running back on the roster. The senior has seen more usage in the last four games, getting 58 attempts. He’s done the most with that usage rushing for 326 yards and three touchdowns over that time span, and his draft projection seems to be trending upward. This last weekend he had the best game of his career, rushing for 143 yards and a touchdown against the Kentucky Wildcats. McIntosh has shown to be a capable receiver and has a frame that NFL teams will covet. He’s a name you should be watching on your sleeper watchlist.
WR Jordan Addison (Jr – USC): 6-foot-0, 175 lbs
Addison has been dealing with an injury and hasn’t been relevant since his game against Utah in October. He changed that in a big way in a huge game against #16 UCLA. Against the Bruins, Addison had 11 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown. He was dominant all over the field, and one significant improvement that Addison has shown this season is his ability to create separation. He’s always been able to find space against opposing defenses, but this season, he’s improved in man-to-man coverage and with physical corners. NFL teams will undoubtedly notice something that will go a long way in his draft capital. Addison has also shown to have improved hands this year, and he is one of the best receivers in this class.
WR Jalen McMillan (RS So - Washington): 6-foot-1, 182 lbs
McMillan continues to have a strong junior season. He has recorded 65 receptions for 890 yards and seven touchdowns this season and has looked stronger down the stretch of the season. He was a big reason why Washington was able to pull off the upset against Oregon two weeks ago, where he had eight receptions for 122 yards and had one of the biggest catches of the game. McMillan will be an interesting case study if he declares for the NFL draft after the season. Many receivers fit his profile in this class, so testing numbers will need to help him separate from the pack. If he can test well, he could be a big sleeper in the class if he decides to declare.
Hendon Hooker Injury
There was some sad news over the weekend when it was confirmed that Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker tore his ACL against South Carolina. The senior quarterback was having a Heisman-caliber season before the South Carolina game. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound Hooker completed 229-of-329 passes this year (69.6%) for 3,135 yards and twenty-seven touchdowns. He was in command of the offense and improved his decision-making, only throwing two interceptions this season. He has always been a dual-threat quarterback rushing for 430 yards and five touchdowns and was an enticing fantasy prospect with those numbers. The issue for Hooker is he will turn 25 in January and is an older prospect already. He is a few months older than Justin Herbert. Tie that in with the fact that this injury will knock him out of pre-draft workouts his draft stock will undoubtedly take a hit in the next few months. The biggest concern that scouts have noted with Hooker outside of his age was the offense that he plays in. Tennessee's offense allows quarterbacks to put up big numbers, and there are concerns that the system is why Hooker has progressed so much as a quarterback. The pre-draft workouts were vital for Hooker to prove to them that he could play within any system and be tested in different schemes. Now that doesn’t look like it will happen. It’s hard to say where he will get drafted, but with the injury, it will not be in the first round, which is almost entirely a death sentence for long-term value in dynasty formats for quarterbacks. This is one of the most unfortunate injuries of the college football season.
2023 Draft Pick Values
With the NFL season halfway finished, dynasty leagues are becoming increasingly active, which means more trades are undoubtedly occurring. The whole point of this big board each week is to help you identify where the talent in the current class is and start identifying target areas and tiers to trade for. It’s also important to understand market values and what 2023 picks cost in the dynasty market. One area that you can exploit right now if you are looking to acquire picks is by shipping off your middle-tier running backs. Managers are desperate to find production out of their running back spot, and now is the best time to exploit their weaknesses.
