Tom Brady (QB-TB) - Brady isn’t playing badly, he has just been saddled with a skeleton crew at wide receiver and a banged-up offensive line that has been losing backups to backups. Both situations will settle down, and Brady won’t have to face a trio like the Cowboys, Saints, and Packers defenses in consecutive weeks for a while. The Chiefs defense is no pushover, but Brady is getting Mike Evans back this week, and Kansas City allowed Matt Ryan to get out of a slump last week. Brady is going to be fine in time, but the perception of his value has never been lower during his tenure with the Bucs
Josh Jacobs (RB-LV) - The Raiders have scored six offensive touchdowns this year, it just happens that zero have gone to Jacobs. That is sure to change, and perhaps as early as this week, as the Raiders get the Broncos, a team their running backs posted four touchdowns on last year. Jacobs has not been mired in a committee as we feared during the offseason and preseason. Jacobs also had an active game as a receiver last week, with five catches.
Alec Pierce (WR-IND) - Pierce was back from a concussion last week and looked like a worthy #2 receiver for Matt Ryan in only his second NFL game. He posted a 3-61 stat line on five targets despite playing only 45% of the snaps. Parris Campbell has been the #2 in terms of snaps, but he isn’t producing, so it’s only a matter of time before Pierce moves up in the pecking order.
Russell Wilson (QB-DEN) - Wilson had another conspicuously bad performance for fantasy and in real NFL terms on Sunday night, but it can’t stay this bad forever. He’s still getting accustomed to his new offense and teammates, and he has a head coach who appears to be in over his head. The team got Nathaniel Hackett some help with a game management coach, and Wilson should be able to create more of a comfort zone as the season progresses. Wilson might not be a team savior, but his fantasy managers are likely disgusted enough with him to give him up for pennies on the dollar, especially in dynasty leagues.
Kyler Murray (QB-ARI) - Murray has gotten the copious amount of attempts we hoped for as a result of his terrible defense, but he hasn’t been very productive for fantasy. Hopefully, the Cardinals start unleashing him more as a runner by design, but even if they don’t, DeAndre Hopkins will be back soon, as will Rondale Moore. This pass offense should improve significantly in upcoming weeks, and Murray’s numbers could - nay should take off.
A.J. Dillon (RB-GB) - Dillon got off to a good start in Week 1 even though the Packers offense had a terrible game. He was upstaged by Aaron Jones in Week 2, and the whole Packers offense struggled again in a tough matchup against the Bucs last week. The next three weeks bring the Patriots, Giants, and Jets, all at Lambeau, which should mean winning game scripts that ask Dillon to carry the load as the boa constrictor against tired defenses in the second half.
