Welcome to Week 10 of the 2023 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Can't Go Home Again
- Bears Ground Game
- Rookie QBs Revisited
- Either/Or: The QB Edition (see below)
Let's roll.
Either/Or: The QB Edition
Matt Waldman: Which player would you rather have for the rest of the season?
Let's begin with Purdy or Prescott.
Dave Kluge: I’d prefer Dak Prescott to Brock Purdy. Prescott is on an upward trajectory after a slow start to the season. He’s shown a lengthy history of prolonged success as a fantasy quarterback, whereas Purdy is still within a year of his first start. I don’t expect the wheels to fall off Purdy, but it’s possible. Prescott is safer, but you could convince me that Purdy has a higher ceiling.
Craig Lakins: Prescott isn't the athlete he once was, but he's hitting his stride at the halfway point in the season. While he came up short in Sunday's game against the Eagles, he played a magnificent ball game. Over his last three contests, he's averaging 27.1 fantasy points. In contrast, Purdy is averaging 12.9.
Joey Wright: Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott fall into the great second quarterback in Superflex and two-quarterback league range. Therefore, it is a matter of strength of the remaining schedule. Outside of the Baltimore Ravens in week sixteen, every remaining matchup for the 49ers and Brock Purdy is against teams ranked in the bottom twelve against opposing fantasy quarterbacks. On average, their remaining opponents, outside of the Ravens, give up 22.9 fantasy points per game. Give me Purdy.
