IDL and Edge Streaming Matchups, Week 6

Joseph Haggan's IDL and Edge Streaming Matchups, Week 6 Joseph Haggan Published 10/11/2023

Streaming IDL and Edge for Week 5 was again a mixed bag, though it is always going to be. The players we did hit on, though, we hit big. Bradley Chubb dropped seven total tackles and Zach Sieler blew up with seven tackles and two sacks. The rest of the picks were not failures but produced just modest production. With some teams' offensive lines getting worked over every week, it has given us great targets for streaming. Here are the top IDL and Edge streaming options for Week 6.

IDL and Edge Streaming Options

Edge Marcus Davenport, Minnesota Vikings

Matchup: Chicago Bears - Ranked 23rd in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Yes, I know. After Week 1, I said I would never stream Davenport again. Well, it is time to eat crow because here we are. The bright side is that Davenport has been playing rather well over the last two games. He has racked up eight tackles, two sacks, and seven pressures over that span, seemingly finally hitting his stride.

Davenport's matchup for Week 6 is a tasty one. He squares off with the Chicago Bears, who have allowed 20 sacks through the first five games, bad enough for third worst in the league. Davenport holds a 47% snap share, and I expect him to be very active on Sunday.

Edge Mike Danna, Kansas City Chiefs

Matchup: Denver Broncos - Ranked 13th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

This is Danna's second stint in the IDL and Edge streaming article, and I am hoping for the same success we had the first time he appeared. Danna has been a pleasant surprise for the Chiefs so far in 2023. So much so, that he has dominated snaps across from George Karlaftis, even though the Chiefs drafted Felix Anudike-Uzomah in the 1st Round of the 2023 draft. Danna has 18 tackles, three and a half sacks, and two passes defended over the first five games.

For Week 6, the Chiefs are matched up with the Broncos. The Broncos' offensive line has been pushed around all season, giving up 15 sacks so far. That ranks them at eighth most. Danna should continue his strong start to the campaign by making Russell Wilson's life difficult.

IDL David Onyemata, Atlanta Falcons

Matchup: Washington Commanders - Ranked 31st in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Onyemata has been a steady producer from the IDL position over his career. He has averaged just under 38 tackles and four sacks per season since he became a starter in 2017. Onyemata has started 2023 on the same trajectory with 18 tackles, one and a half sacks, and three passes defended through five games.

We would be misguiding you if we did not have you stream IDL and Edge players who are matched up against the Commanders. So, to make sure I am not doing my job poorly, here you go. The Commanders' offensive line has been leaky at best. They have allowed 29 sacks over the first five games, almost six per game. That is the second-worst in the league. Onyemata should not have much trouble collapsing the pocket in Week 6.

IDL Justin Madubuike, Baltimore Ravens

Matchup: Tennessee Titans - Ranked 32nd in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

The worry with Madubuike going into 2023 was his run defense. His tackling was atrocious in 2022, with a missed tackle rate of 23.4%. Luckily, it seems he has cleaned that up a bit for 2023. That missed tackle rate has dropped to 13.3%. Still not good, but much better than it was. The good news is that his pass-rushing has been as good as it always has been, especially over the past two games.

During that span, he has seven tackles and one and a half sacks. For Week 6, Madubuike faces the Titans in Week 6, who have been one of the worst offensive lines in the league so far. Madubuike should have a strong showing against his lackluster opponent.

IDL and Edge Sleeper Options

Edge Arnold Ebiketie, Atlanta Falcons

Matchup: Washington Commanders - Ranked 31st in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

I am desperately waiting for Ebiketie to break out. He has ample volume, and the talent is there. His pass rush has just been lackluster. He only has five pressures, and they all came in the first two games of the season. Still, his 45% snap share over the past two games is encouraging, as well as his matchup.

As mentioned earlier, the Commanders' offensive line is in shambles. This could be a nice get-right week for Ebiketie to spark his 2023 season off...just a little late. The matchup alone makes him a viable sleeper.

IDL Jordan Phillips, Buffalo Bills

Matchup: New York Giants - Ranked 29th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Phillips has been a depth piece on the Bills' stacked defensive line this season, with Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones entrenched as the starters. Jones left Week 5 with an injury, and Phillips was his direct replacement. Jones is likely done for a few weeks, and Phillips will be in line to start. The last time Phillips faced a terrible offensive line, the Commanders in Week 3, he produced four pressures.

He gets another magical matchup this week against the Giants. The Giants have allowed the most sacks on the season with 30 and will likely be starting Tyrod Taylor. Phillips, based on matchup alone, should have the opportunity to be a nice sleeper for Week 6.

Final Thoughts

We continue to be successful in streaming IDL and Edge defenders. There have been at least two major hits per week. Take advantage of those terrible offensive lines, especially if you are thin at your IDL and Edge positions. Thank you for reading, and good luck in Week 6.
