Sunday Morning Update:
Check back Sunday Morning around 11AM EST for updates to the Primary Cash Lineup if there is any breaking news. We will always make a post on this page, so if you don’t see something, continue to check back throughout the morning as we could be waiting on some inactives at 11:30AM EST. Even if there is no update, we will put no update and some final thoughts.
Update 10:30AM
No Primary Cash Lineup changes this week. With Jahmyr Gibbs out I've tried to add on David Montgomery, but at $8,500 this week he is just too expensive to fit in this week. I will be back if there is any surprising injury news this week.
SITUATIONS THAT STAND OUT TO THIS WEEK ON THE MAIN SLATE.
- Miami (vs NYG) – 30.0 points
- Kansas City (at MIN) – 29.0 points
- Philadelphia (at LAR) – 27.5 points
- Detroit (vs CAR) – 27.0 points
Week 4 Recap
Trying to find the right word to describe Week 4 is difficult. Pain, disappointment, and agony are three that all come to mind. The fact that I was on Justin Fields all week, only to get sucked into Dorian Thompson-Robinson and the disaster that was the Browns offense. Meanwhile, Justin Fields outscored Dorian Thompson-Robinson by a staggering 24.7 points as Fields ended up with 28.9 points on the day and was the top value quarterback on the slate.
Total points scored- 122.8
- QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, CLE, $6,100- 4.24
- RB James Cook, BUF, $6,800- 14.2
- RB Javonte Williams, DEN, $5,800- 2.4
- WR JaMarr Chase, CIN, $8,200- 10.8
- WR Justin Jefferson, MIN, $9,400- 23.5
- WR Michael Thomas, NO, $5,800- 7.3
- TE Jake Ferguson, DAL, $5,100- 11.2
- Flex RB Christian McCaffrey, SF, $9,700- 45.2
- TD Las Vegas Raiders, $3,000- 4
What went right:
- Christian McCaffrey was critical to even have a chance this week. McCaffrey is quickly separating himself in the tier of elite running backs during a season in which a lot of the top running backs are either injured or have struggled.
- Jake Ferguson continues to be excellent at the tight end position in Dallas. While he still has just one touchdown on the season, he added another 2 red zone targets to his league-leading 11 targets on the year. Next week’s price could be interesting as if he stays sub-6k he will be almost an automatic play.
What went wrong:
- Not playing Puka Nacua. This one is a struggle to wrap my head around why he was 64% rostered. The matchup was a solid one as the Rams took on the Colts, but based on the price at $7,500, he wasn’t even on my radar. I had him slotted somewhere in the 20-25% rostered range based on prior weeks and just overall price points. What likely happened here, was that based on people gravitating towards Anthony Richardson at 50%, it likely forced them into a build that they had between 7-8k remaining and Puka was the top guy in that range.
- Dorian Thompson-Robinson was disappointing. It was just a sad game plan all around as if the coaching staff was not prepared for what might happen if Watson did not play. While he wasn’t expected to throw for 300-yards, what was a mystery was the lack of rushing attempts from the quarterback. It was almost as if the coaching staff told him specifically do not run, whether it was they didn’t have any faith in P.J. Walker as his backup, or they thought he could win the game passing was just strange.
Injuries Create Opportunity:
Week 5 is one of the least injury-filled weeks we have had in a while.
- Amon-Ra St. Brown will miss this week with an abdomen injury. While the Lions do get Jameson Williams back from suspension this week, the bulk of St. Brown’s targets will likely go to Sam LaPorta, Josh Reynolds and Jahmyr Gibbs, while Kalif Raymond is a cheap GPP play. Jameson Williams has just one career reception and likely will take time to acclimate to the offense. Of the three, LaPorta is the most interesting just because of what he has already shown an ability to take over games as the rookie tight end has been excellent this season.
- Cooper Kupp looks like he will return this week from his hamstring injury, as the team has designated him to return from IR. This is much-needed news for one of the league’s best passing offenses, as the Rams have struggled in the red zone which is one of Kupp’s specialties as evidenced by his 16-touchdown season back in 2021.
- Treylon Burks will miss Week 5 with a knee injury. This shouldn’t impact the Titans all that much, as Burks has just six receptions on the season, but could open up some additional opportunities for DeAndre Hopkins this week.
- Tee Higgins looks like he more on the doubtful side of questionable this week. If he is unable to go, Tyler Boyd becomes a little more intriguing as a value play, but JaMarr Chase and Joe Mixon likely will see a majority of the work for the Bengals.
- The Broncos defense gets 3 starters back this week, as Frank Clark, Josey Jewell, and Justin Simmons all should return. This is much needed for one of the league’s worst defenses. While it likely doesn’t solve their issues, it certainly helps.
Week 5 Strategy- Don’t Overreact to Last Week, but Don’t Ignore it Either
