One of the most fun parts of managing a deep dynasty roster is cultivating value by planting seeds at the end of your bench during the offseason. We'll go position-by-position and separate players out into Snorkel, Scuba, and Submarine levels to serve dynasty players of all levels.
First up, quarterbacks, where the deep dive is more important than ever with the rise of 2QB/Superflex leagues. Jordan Love, Sam Howell, Brock Purdy, Desmond Ridder, and Joshua Dobbs were on this list last year.
Snorkel
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, CLE - Thompson-Robinson has some trust from his team, as they went back to him after a debacle in his first NFL start, and he showed enough improvement to indicate that he's developing, as he himself said when asked about the difference in preparation for his first and second NFL starts. Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed contract is an obstacle to his playing time, but if this season is any indication, he'll take snaps under center for the Browns at some point next season, too.
Jake Browning, CIN - I don't care how short the passes are. Going 32 for 37 as a passer against an NFL defense is impressive. Browning has surprised with his competence since Joe Burrow went down. The Bengals can keep him next year as an ERFA, but teams have to be taking notice of his performance.
Trey Lance, DAL - The truth about Lance is probably somewhere between the fourth-round pick Dallas spent to add him via trade and the three first-round picks the 49ers spent. He hasn't affirmatively played badly for a long stretch, unlike, say, Zach Wilson, and it's not a stretch to see Lance competing to start in the future somewhere else, with Dak Prescott likely earning another extension soon in Dallas.
Hendon Hooker, DET - Jared Goff has probably earned an extension, but his flaws have also been on display, and he doesn't have Hooker's athleticism. Hooker should be ready to be the backup next year, and with the structure and quality of this pass offense combined with his running ability, we could have a fantasy hit on our hands if he gets a chance to start due to a future Goff injury. This offense is tailored to hide his deficiencies and accentuate his strengths.
