Random Shots From Week 6

Joe Bryant's Random Shots From Week 6 Joe Bryant Published 10/19/2022

Hi Folks,

We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful, and serious features here at Footballguys, with smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

This is Random Shots, and it's a few pages of me downloading my brain that gets stuffed with way too many random items from too many hours watching, reading about, and listening to Football every weekend and throughout the week. It's the only way I manage. Here's hoping it has some value for you.

We'll see. Now let's get to it.

J

If a fantasy football season were nine seconds like this video, we're about three seconds in. So far, feels accurate.

Make sure to have the sound on.

I'm with my friend LaQuan Jones. For a title of "Records In New York," I see a couple of New Jersey teams plus a team from New York here...

Small consolation for us Russell Wilson Drafters: The NFL Schedule Makers also whiffed.

Chargers fans Monday night...

This was the moment #47 realized it was over...

In hindsight, Alabama never had a chance once this was posted an hour before kickoff in Knoxville...

I love the NFL, but College Football is fun too.

Thanks to Footballguy Jeff Bell for that one.

October and more Michael Myers.

The fall is funny. But how he gets up is gold.

We're living in a magical time for camera technology.

With that said, just because you can does not mean you should...

You know I have no problem roasting soccer players.

But I'm with this guy.

Whoever is running the Seahawks' Social Media deserves a raise.

It keeps going...

and doesn't stop.

Thanks to Justin Bonnema and Jake Bryant for this one.

Wide receivers compared to linebackers...

Thanks to John Lee for that one.

Things have changed for Davante Adams...

I think these people may be on to something...

Imagine Brian Daboll and the Giants with real wide receivers...

Thanks to Chris Dale for that one.

Burrow warned us...

Miami might have the best home-field advantage in sports.

How this happens:

I love compelling storylines; few are better than the young guy vs. the old guy games.

Prayers up for the fantasy teams with Saquon Barkley (mine included) as he took a knee at the one Sunday. It was the smart football play to win the game. I hope Nick Chubb and the Browns were paying attention.

I love you, Panthers Fans, but can we please make a Christian McCaffrey to Kansas City trade happen?

Some things change with how to lead people.

Some things stay the same.

Celebrating a win and acknowledging excellent work has always been a good thing.

Lots of sports teams have their "thing." Whether it's a Florida Gator "chomp" or a Pittsburgh Steeler Terrible Towel or the texas university "hook em" pinky wave thing, the downside is when things don't go your way, the other team is happy to use the "thing" against you.

Packers fans got some of that this weekend with Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner wearing a Cheesehead. It's mostly good fun with a bit of disrespect thrown in. We'll see how this one goes in the future.

Bill Belichick is a National Treasure.

Thanks to Sigmund Bloom for that one.

We know who we are.

Mike Gesicki with another Griddy. Sunday Night Football thought he was getting better.

He was not.

To his credit, he was a good sport about it.

Thanks to Brian Sumner for that one.

Ja'Marr Chase, with the fake hamstring pull was my favorite move of the week.

Music note of the week is a newish one from a Random Shots favorite, Colter Wall. Wall's a young guy from Canada, but it sounds like old-school country from Tennessee.

This was too much.

Kirk Cousins is a "rat" and a "snitch" when he begs for the call, but Josh Allen is "competitive"...

Little things matter. Braxton Berrios scored a sweet touchdown in Green Bay, and Michael Carter tried to pull Berrios away for a celebration. Instead, the wide receiver went back to congratulate and thank his blockers.

I think the Patriots found their quarterback...

I know I already did one of these for Kyle Pitts. Here's another. We waited a long time...

Von Miller paying tribute to one of his heroes with the Derrick Thomas pre-game shirt.

I get that he's Tom Brady. But here's the thing. If you want to take off for ten days in August during camp, skip practice every Wednesday, bail Friday for a competitor's wedding, and skip the walk-through on Saturday, don't be surprised when grown men balk a bit at being screamed at with F-bombs. You can tout your dedication with all the avocado ice cream you want. But people still matter in this business, and they notice if you're not there.

Party's back on in Pittsburgh.

Undrafted rookie free Brenden Schooler recovered a punt and tried to hand the ball to his coach.

Belichick seems like he grudgingly accepts the Lamar Hunt Trophy for winning the AFC Championship. He was not impressed with the game ball gift from the rookie.

The best part was the assistant in the red hoodie stepping in to help.

Harrison Butker with the no-look Steph Curry vibes from 62.

View from the endzone.

The King.

This is not an Onion headline...

I didn't know Trubisky sounded like this... ;)

C.J. Gardner-Johnson with a life lesson: Always take the call or text from your grandmother.

Josh Allen almost broke the Internet hurdling defenders.

But this was my favorite thing Allen did Sunday.

Here we go, Eagles...

Robbie Anderson may have been a disappointment on the field. But he'll always be a Random Shots MVP for the Sir Purr clip.

One more college note.

Nick Saban recounts his afternoon in Knoxville.

Wrapping with this one from my friend Craig Lakins.

Our job at Footballguys is helping people win more at Fantasy Football. It's right there on the website.

But community and friends, and fun are the heart and soul of what we do and why we do it. Always has been. Always will be.

Thank you for being part of this goofy journey with us.

And thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Sigmund Bloom, Jake Bryant, Tom Wiklund, Jeff Bell, Justin Bonnema, John Lee, Craig Lakins, Chris Dale, Brian Sumner, Adam Harstad, and Clayton Gray for help. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, email me at bryant@footballguys.com.

Thanks for playing along, and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.

Peace and Grace to you.

J
