Fixing Your Dynasty Team, Quarterback Trade Edition

Jordan McNamara's Fixing Your Dynasty Team, Quarterback Trade Edition Jordan McNamara Published 11/17/2022

If you are falling out of contention in your dynasty league, fixing your quarterback position does not always mean going young at the position. Quarterback is a position where proven veterans who are depressed in value are better bets for future production than unproven young players.

Below are four players that can be acquired at a discount and help you long term. The trades included are real dynasty trades in Superflex leagues.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott is still in his prime. He has been injured multiple times over the past two years, but he is healthy now. He is under a long-term contract in a good system with the Dallas Cowboys. Over the next year, Prescott should get additional help in upgrades in offensive support system over the next year. Prescott is QB12 at KTC, behind Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence.

Recent trades with good prices for Prescott include:

Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson has had a tough six months. His performance has been bad throughout the first half of the season. Paired with a coaching staff that has struggled out the gate, there are a lot of bad vibes coming out of Denver.

One of two things is happening with Wilson. Either Wilson is falling off an age cliff or it is a bad stretch. The key to a trade for Wilson is to pay a cost that will not crush your team if the first is true but will be a windfall if he rebounds. There is a big spread on Wilson’s cost so explore the market, and a lot of opportunity.

Recent trades include:

Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford is going through a similar issue as Wilson. Stafford’s career has not been as good as Wilson’s, and he has had a lower ceiling than Wilson. Both are cheap to acquire and represent big asymmetric bets.

Recent trades include:

Derek Carr

Derek Carr has also been a disappointment. Carr has not been to the same level as Wilson or Stafford in his career but is still a longer-term option at the position. The yearly rumblings the Raiders may move on from care are again making the rounds, but Carr is a starting quarterback for years into the future, either in Las Vegas or elsewhere. Adding depth at quarterback in Superflex formats is an option to create future flexibility, and Carr is a good example.
