Wednesday Media Updates
***The Panthers defined Christian McCaffrey's shoulder injury as an AC sprain. McCaffrey sought additional opinions on the injury this week, a process he'd not undertake with a low-grade injury. Matt Rhule told reporters McCaffrey is "pretty much out this week and we'll see how it looks next week."
***Joe Mixon is still not practicing. However, he was seen moving well in rehab and simulating carries. Zac Taylor continues to suggest Mixon has a chance to play this week. Mixon needs to return to individual drills on Thursday to feel confident in his chances to see a significant workload this week.
***Nick Chubb told reporters his knee feels good since returning to practice. He's "not sure" whether he'll play, noting the final decision will be made by the coaching staff and medical personnel, but he looks likely to return.
***Miles Sanders returned to a limited practice as the Eagles come out of their Week 9 bye. Philadelphia will be careful with Sanders' practice reps through the week but he's trending toward returning.
***Ben Roethlisberger is on the COVID list but able to rehab in the facility away from his teammates. He will not be listed on the injury report until he returns to the active roster. Although he's dealing with injuries to both knees, he's currently expected to play.
***Chris Carson has resumed running but is not cleared for individual drills. If Wednesday's conditioning goes well, it's possible Carson works toward returning in a limited role. He remains questionable at best. Pete Carroll told reporters Carlos Hyde is further behind Carson. Hyde is unlikely to play.
***Deebo Samuel was not healthy enough for individual drills. The Niners say they'll re-evaluate on Thursday but Samuel is not trending well.
***Kenyan Drake may be close to returning. The Cardinals allowed him to take part in individual drills on Wednesday. If his ankle responds well, it's a good sign for this week.

Here are the key offensive players listed on the practice participation or game status report for Thursday Night Football:
Indianapolis at Tennessee
***The Colts have ruled out Jack Doyle (concussion). Mo Alie-Cox is listed questionable but will continue to play through knee soreness. T.Y. Hilton returns after missing last week's game with a groin injury. He fully practiced this week.
***The Titans are nearly full strength. Adam Humphries will miss his second week while continuing to recover from a Week 8 concussion.
Early week practice participation and playing expectations
The Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports are our first chance to see which players each NFL team is limiting in practice after the previous week's games. Players limited in mid-week practice aren't necessarily in danger of missing that week's game. But they all need to be watched closely.
