WEDNESDAY MEDIA UPDATES
***James Conner progressed through the return to play protocol without incident and was fully practicing on Wednesday -- less than a week after last Thursday night's concussion. He'll have to get through the next two practices without a setback but today's full workout suggests the Steelers are planning for Conner to play this week.
***Adam Thielen fought through a calf injury in Week 9 and was limited in practice coming out of the bye week. There are no indications his strain is significant but watch for any surprise practice downgrades. Stefon Diggs is fully practicing and expects to return this week.
***Joey Bosa was back in individual drills on Wednesday. He'll need some time to return to football condition but a limited practice is a necessary first step.
***Marvin Jones hyperextended his knee last week and was diagnosed with a bone bruise. Adam Schefter reported Jones was day-to-day but bone bruises around the knee often require longer recoveries. Consider Jones questionable at best.
***Joe Flacco was on crutches on Monday and didn't practice Wednesday. Though the Ravens won't rule him out until the end of the week -- if at all -- it's unlikely he plays through a hip injury that required imaging and specialist evaluations through the bye week.
***Keke Coutee is "trending upward" and preparing to play this week. Coutee has said he won't return until he's 100% -- it's not clear whether a full practice is necessary but it will be hard to feel comfortable with Coutee unless the Texans keep him off the game status report at week's end.
THURSDAY NIGHT INJURY EXPECTATIONS
Here are the key players listed on the practice participation or game status report for Thursday Night Football:
Green bay at Seattle
***Chris Carson fully practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Monday, Pete Carroll said the Seahawks sat Carson last week with the quick Thursday turnaround in mind and expected his running back to be closer to full strength than he'd been in weeks. Off the injury report now, Carson should be ready for a sizable workload.
***Randall Cobb aggravated a hamstring injury during practice last week. He was unable to practice, did not travel with the team, and will miss another game.
***The quick turnaround proved to be too much for K.J. Wright, who didn't have enough time to recover and will not play.
***Josh Jones will again see extended time in the Green Bay secondary with Kentrell Brice out with an ankle injury. The Packers are also without cornerback Kevin King -- an important loss -- and edge rusher Nick Perry.
EARly week PRACTICE PARTICIPATION & EARLY EXPECTATIONS
The Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports are our first chance to see which players each NFL team are limiting in practice after the previous week's games. Players limited in mid-week practice aren't necessarily in danger of missing that week's game. But they all need to be watched closely.
