KEY THURSDAY MEDIA UPDATES
***The Giants continue to allow Odell Beckham to talk to the media in the locker room. On Thursday, he told reporters his high ankle sprain was expected to be a 6-8 week recovery then clarified to a 4-12 week timetable. Ignore the details in those statements. The underlying point is Beckham is not yet fully recovered despite returning to a limited practice today -- and may not be for another week. Beckham won't play until Monday night. The extra day will help him recover but also likely keeps his status unclear through Sunday lineup lock. If Beckham is active this week, expect him to see fewer than his usual targets.
***Jordan Howard is on this week's injury report with a shoulder injury. After last week's game, the team said he was "banged up." The Bears aren't likely to give us any additional actionable information on the injury so we're left to read the practice report. There doesn't appear to be any major concern around the team but a full practice on Friday would help allay any concern.
***John Brown did not practice for the second consecutive day. It's hard to see this as rest and there's now reason to worry he exacerbated his quad condition despite looking healthy in 63 of 75 snaps last week. Bruce Arians did not update Brown's status on Thursday. Tomorrow's practice participation will tell us more.
***Danny Woodhead was moved to injured reserve today. He'll be eligible to return after Week 9. With the Ravens on a Week 10 bye, his soonest return will be Week 11.
EARLY WEEK PRACTICE PARTICIPATION REPORT AND EARLY EXPECTATIONS
The Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports are our first chance to see which players each NFL team are limiting in practice after the previous week's games. Players limited in mid-week practice aren't necessarily in danger of missing that week's game. But they all need to be watched closely.
