Welcome to Week 2 of the 2023 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Week 1 Surprises
- Navigating Utilization Data
- Questionable Quarterback Waiver Decisions
- The Jets Offense, Now What? (See Below)
Let's roll.
The Jets Offense, Now What?
Matt Waldman: Aaron Rodgers tears his Achilles tendon on the fourth play of the game and instantly changes this offense.
- Is there a priority addition from the Jets?
- Other than Rodgers (if applicable), are you dropping anyone from the Jets?
- Who continues to start in your lineups?
- Who are you benching?
What's the state of the Jets offense for fantasy purposes?
Dave Kluge: Although you're not feeling good about it, Zach Wilson moves up to the spot in your rankings titled, “I’m desperate to plug a QB into my SuperFlex spot.” Allen Lazard was seemingly brought in as a favor for Aaron Rodgers. Now he's droppable now. Zach Wilson made Garrett Wilson seemingly unstartable last year, so it’s hard to imagine the team’s WR2 has any value.
If you were holding onto hope for Randall Cobb or Tyler Conklin, you can also cut bait there. At this point, you can feel good about Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook in your lineups. The Jets will do their best to control games through their defense and run games.
Garrett Wilson is the most dramatic faller in the rankings. He moves from a potential top-5 WR to a boom-or-bust WR2. Without intercepting Zach Wilson’s pass intended for Tre'Davious White on Monday, Garrett Wilson finishes the game with 4 catches for 31 yards.
Some of you may believe Garrett Wilson is so talented that you must keep starting him, but his weekly floor is a trap door.
