Random Shots From Week 6

Joe Bryant's Random Shots From Week 6 Joe Bryant Published 10/18/2023

Hi Folks,

We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful, and serious features here at Footballguys with smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

This is Random Shots, and it's a few pages of me downloading my brain that gets stuffed with way too many random items from too many hours watching, reading about, and listening to football every weekend and throughout the week. It's the only way I manage. Here's hoping it has some value for you.

We'll see. Now, let's get to it.

J

It's October. Michael Myers with a behind-the-scenes look at what makes him great.

"Pennywise talking like, 'Oh, I'm big time.'"

"You livin' in a sewer.

"My condo 4,800 a month. You're not moving like me."

Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel on the same offensive staff seems unfair...

And I don't know how Washington didn't set every offensive record in 2012.

Titans running back Derrick Henry lined up in the wildcat formation Sunday, took a snap from center, faked a handoff, and then ran downfield for a big gain.

I'm with my buddy Sigmund Bloom; how great would Derrick Henry have to be at faking a handoff to make anyone think he wasn't carrying the ball?

I love the Broncos, and I know lots of awesome Broncos fans. And this is rough.

Hmmm.

This corn maze has all the right vibes.

If Random Shots had an owner, it would be Jerry Jones.

Thanks to Jake Bryant for that one.

It's a weekly thing, but these Oregon uniforms are fire.

As political as I'll get here.

I'm not sure when every athlete and coach became so thin-skinned and felt the need to be offended by every possible slight and keep the "receipts."

Maybe the digs need to be more creative. I miss Chad Johnson.

Why we love the NFL.

I posted this before the game...

Cleveland had an answer.

More for our Broncos folks.

Let's get cute and open the game with an onside kick!

What could go wrong?

After Colorado choked away a 29-point lead, Stanford players had a message for Shedeur Sanders and his signature watch pose.

Joel Klatt got dressed in the dark.

It's probably not scientific, but I believe good teams are selfless. And one easy way that's seen is when wide receivers block.

This week's example was Detroit.

I don't care if this is real or not. Josh Dobbs has been fun.

Nailed it.

Titans with a proper celebration for the London game.

I've had the pleasure of interviewing Scott Hanson, and he's fantastic. Most people don't think about the work and logistics that go into what he does. Super interesting talk with Ryen Russillo.

You always want Trent Williams on your side.

Random Shots: Come for the football. Stay for the linguistics history...

C.J. Stroud is doing it all.

I felt this one a little too much.

Ja'Marr Chase continues to roll with the "Always Open Like 7-11".

Music note this week is an old favorite. John Craigie is one of those guys that seems criminally underrated to me. "I Am California" is my favorite song from him.

This line gets me every time:

"You tried to drown your sorrows.

"You shouldn't have taught them how to swim."

And the vibe feels totally right this time of year as the season starts to change. Enjoy.

One reason Joe Burrow's teammates love him. Look at how important he knew it was for rookie Andrei Iosivas to get his first touchdown ball back.

DK Metcalf...

Hope is a beautiful thing.

No wonder the Lions are rolling.

Thanks to Jake Bryant for that one.

Been there, Coach.

Been there.

Kellen Moore, too.

Kamara didn't seem to be buying what Jameis was selling.

I know he's a quarterback, but how does an NFL player with the given name of "Axel" not use it?

The Jets are fun. But Robert Saleh said they "embarrassed" all the QBs they've faced so far...

And Patrick Mahomes II didn't look too embarrassed with a game-ending 7+ minute drive toying with the Jets defense as he led the Chiefs downfield to score and win.

Mike McDaniel pulling further ahead in the race to be Random Shots Head Coach.

Justin Pugh was called up from the Practice Squad and delivered the perfect intro.

Glitch in the Matrix.

Shannon Sharpe's new makeup person had him looking full-on Little Richard.

I've not been in too many television dressing rooms. But do they not have a mirror?

God Bless Bears Fans.

I would not bet against the Eagles this week. Those Kelly Greens are clean.

Dude was not giving up the Creamsicle.

Wrapping with this one. I was a little heavy last week and promised to be more fun this week, so here's something super rad.

AT&T created a way for deaf players to see plays on a small display in the visor of their helmets.

That's badass.

Rock on AT&T and Gallaudet University.

Thank you for being part of this goofy journey with us.

And thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Jake Bryant, and Clayton Gray for the help. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, email me at bryant@footballguys.com.

Thanks for playing along, and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.

Peace and Grace to you.
