Jets Fantasy Prospects

Waldman: Zach Wilson couldn't find Elijah Moore, he consistently was just a hair away from big plays with Denzel Mims, and he couldn't maximize Garrett Wilson. Enter Mike White and the Jets had offense against the Bears. Here's a short list of players I'd like for you to discuss.

How do you value these players relative to a PPR fantasy lineup with 1-2 QBs, 2-3 RBs, 3-4 WRs, 1-2 TEs) for the month of December?

Schott Bischoff: Wilson looked off and one has to wonder if he understood the “why” behind the offense. He seemed to miss the windows to make certain throws and struggled with staying in the timing of the structure of the Jets' offense. Last week against the Bears, White looked much more dialed in from a sense of knowing where the ball needed to go, and when. White should produce QB2 numbers in this offense in the short term with the ability to spike bigger games depending on the matchup and pace of play. White is a nice streaming option as long as he is starting for the Jets.

Phil Alexander: White should be scooped off waivers as a QB2 or emergency starter if your team is struggling at quarterback. He may not be the world-beater he looked like last week against Chicago's depleted defense. But the Jets' upcoming schedule is favorable, with matchups against the Vikings, Lions, Jaguars, and Seahawks remaining. Wilson, Moore, Mims, Corey Davis, and Tyler Conklin provide White with plenty of weapons to exploit those favorable matchups.

Drew Davenport: The tendency to get overly excited about White is natural, but watching him play after watching Zach Wilson was a startling contrast. There's usually a short-term honeymoon for new quarterbacks before defenses can get much tape on them and it's no different for White. He had significant playing time in four games last year and was dreadful in his final start against Buffalo throwing four interceptions. That's not to say he can't have improved in the meantime and he did play well in his first start Sunday. That's all to say I'm cautiously optimistic he can be a decent streaming option and pop in and out of the Top 12 conversation the rest of the way. He'll have to continue to improve as teams have more film on him, but calling his first start anything but success would be wrong.

Andy Hicks: If White is sitting on waiver wires, do not hesitate to grab him if you need quarterback help. As we saw last year though, it could be a fleeting success or it may have more stamina in 2022. We have seen many backups light it up and struggle with different defenses. The advantage the Jets have is Joe Flacco as a third option, so White gets no latitude.

Jeff Haseley: I am fairly high on Wilson moving forward this season. I see him as a flex option at worst. He is the Jets top receiving threat, he has proven skills, and now the offense has a boost at quarterback. Yes, Mike White is a boost from Zach Wilson. As long as White can make plays and be a positive influence on the offense, Wilson should benefit.

Joseph Haggan: White is a solid QB2 option moving forward. Dating back to 2021, he has shown that he can high incredibly productive games showing fearless attack through the air. The lack of fear is what seems to separate him from Zach Wilson. White has nothing to lose as a backup and shows little fear in taking shots downfield and having his receivers make plays. Wilson never allowed his receivers a chance to make plays. With a strong receiver group, White could be a viable option for the remainder of the season.

Gary Davenport: White is either the best that ever was and ever will be and a god among men or a mid-range QB2, depending on whether or not you ask a Jets fan. However, it's worth noting that the Jets play just one more opponent the rest of the way that ranks lower than 11th in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks.

Drew Davenport: Knight is a bit of an enigma because I don't know a lot about him as a player, but he ran with determination and intention this past week. It looks like Ty Johnson will still be heavily involved and may soak up some of the pass-catching work we want running backs to have, but the bigger question is the health of Michael Carter. The team is calling his situation a low ankle sprain rather than the dreaded high ankle. That's good for Carter, but makes counting on Knight a problem. Regardless of Carter's health Knight should be on a roster going forward but expecting him to be an impact player down the stretch (absent Carter missing more time) is asking a lot with Carter and Johnson available.
