Difficult Week 16 Calls
Matt Waldman: Choose your most difficult lineup decision for this week's games, argue both sides of the choice, and where you're leaning with what we know at press time.
Kevin Coleman: My most difficult decision this weekend is D.J. Moore versus Rachaad White. White has not earned the targets or volume I expected him to earn down the stretch with Leonard Fournette back from injury. At the same time, Moore has looked serviceable with Sam Darnold at quarterback. Both are tough plays because of how inconsistent they have been this season. I am leaning toward Moore in this scenario based on their matchup. The Lions' defense is ranked 31st in fantasy points giving up to opposing wide receivers at 26.1 points per game. Due to the matchup and Moore’s potential floor, he's where I am leaning in this scenario.
Drew Davenport: I have to choose one running back between Zonovan Knight, DOnta Foreman, and Chuba Hubbard in a PPR league this week. A few weeks ago, the answer to the question was quite different. With Mike White at quarterback, Knight averaged 15.3 PPR points per game, but with Zach Wilson throwing the ball, Knight hasn't done nearly as much. Wilson simply doesn't throw the ball to his running backs, and Knight suffers as a result.
On the other hand, Foreman and Hubbard might look like good options on their face, but they draw the worst matchup in the league. Nobody has been tougher on fantasy running backs than the Detroit Lions' defense since Week 7 this year. Plus, Foreman recorded 9 measly yards on 10 attempts against the Steelers this past week and was stuffed at the goal line. The flip side of this is that he was getting the carry at the stripe, and that's all we can ask for. Hubbard, on the other hand, has the added benefit of being more involved in the passing game.
So, while Foreman and Hubbard have a terrible matchup, the other option, Knight, faces a fairly generous Jacksonville defense that has surrendered the 9th most fantasy points to the position and 12 touchdowns to date. That's ultimately what I have to bank on. Knight has a risky floor because of Wilson and the lack of passing game work, but it's much easier to grind out 80 yards and a touchdown with Knight against Jacksonville than it is to hope the Panthers duo will succeed against Detroit.
Jeff Bell: Home league semi-finals. League is .5 PPR with .5 first downs. My decision is two out of three between Rachaad White, D.J. Moore, and Diontae Johnson.
