Fixing Your Dynasty Team, Week 7

In dynasty fantasy football, players have two functions. First is the value of their on-field production to your lineup. Players that score well are more valuable than those who do not score well. Second is the market value of the player. If your player does not produce value on the field, your goal should be to use their market value to acquire a player that does.

WanDale Robinson represents a good example of how to balance the two uses of a player.

Robinson Profile

WanDale Robinson has a curious profile. Robinson is a 5-foot-8 and 185-pound wide receiver who was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Robinson played nine snaps in Week 1 before missing weeks two through five. He then returned for 15 snaps in week six, earning four targets, three receptions, 37 yards, and one touchdown.

In a game where Daniel Jones only threw for 173 yards, represented 21% of the passing offense. Robinson may currently be the WR1 for the New York Giants, but it is more out of necessity than earned performance.

The passing offense ranks 31st in the league in yards per game (154.3), ahead of only Chicago. The incumbent quarterback is Daniel Jones, a lame duck who is likely to be replaced in the offseason.

Yet, the market has reacted favorably. For example, Robinson is currently WR44 in KTC’s valuation. There are players on either side of Robinson’s valuation that have better cases to make a difference for a championship-contending team.

This makes Robinson the ideal trade candidate. When moving a profile like Robinson, use two rules: move him to improve at a premium position or move him for a more durable profile. This is a great opportunity when they are a very fungible type of asset, like a day-two wide receiver without an elite profile.
