Wednesday Media Updates
***Patrick Mahomes II continues to do limited individual work in practice. Andy Reid considers Mahomes day-to-day and I expect Mahomes to push to play. However, there's likely still more risk than reward in Mahomes' playing. He remains questionable at best this week.
***Davante Adams sounds optimistic about playing. He's worked to find comfortable shoes and a correctly-sized orthotic to allow him to push off without pain. If Adams feels good after a week of running routes in individual drills, he could have at least a limited role this week.
***James Conner has a shoulder sprain and will be re-evaluated as the week progresses. Conner has played effectively through multiple minor injuries but shoulder conditions are a unique challenge for running backs. Friday's practice participation will be the most informative practice data point this week.
***Adam Thielen continues to rehab and participate in individual drills. The Vikings are confident Thielen will play but will monitor him between practices to be certain he's at low risk of a longer-term aggravation.
***Christian McCaffrey will likely be limited in practice more often as the season progresses. His limited reps on Wednesday are not concerning.
***Aaron Jones was limited in practice but there are no local reports of concern.
THURSDAY NIGHT INJURY EXPECTATIONS
Here are the key offensive players listed on the practice participation or game status report for Thursday Night Football:
San Francisco at Arizona
***Matt Breida was back to a limited practice on Wednesday and is expected to play through a low ankle sprain. The Niners will again be without both starting offensive tackles.
***David Johnson managed a limited Wednesday practice and is listed questionable. The Cardinals are calling Johnson a game-time decision but he'll play a limited rotational role if he's active. Consider him more doubtful than questionable.
Early week practice participation and playing expectations
The Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports are our first chance to see which players each NFL team is limiting in practice after the previous week's games. Players limited in mid-week practice aren't necessarily in danger of missing that week's game. But they all need to be watched closely.
