Scouting Report

Ted Hurst popped onto the national radar early in the 2024 season with a game-winning touchdown in Georgia State's upset over Vanderbilt. That was the start of a decorated two-year run with the Panthers, during which Hurst finished top-five in every school career receiving record and earned first-team All-Sun Belt recognition to cap 2025. Hurst spent his first two seasons at Valdosta State after starring at receiver, cornerback, and on the basketball court in high school. He cited his comfort level as a reason for choosing Valdosta State after his older brother played there. Hurst had ample attention from P5 programs in the transfer portal before 2025.

Hurst is an early riser in the draft process after making Bruce Feldman's Freaks List in the summer. He profiles as a classic X receiver, winning outside with his length and athleticism in the mold of George Pickens. He rarely saw corners capable of keeping up with his athleticism, but in 2025, he had strong games against Vanderbilt and Memphis. Georgia State featured him as their primary receiver. He has won at all three levels, naturally transitioning into run-after-the-catch opportunities, showing comfort on the sideline in out-breaking routes, and adding the ability to play the ball vertically in the air. He is a player to watch throughout the draft process and should hear his name called on Day 2.

Rundown

Hurst is a plus athlete in a classic X receiver archetype, capable of serving as an outside receiver and field stretcher. His competition level will generate questions, but he should emerge as a Day 2 prospect and should be on fantasy radars.
