Scouting Report

Jamal Haynes joined Georgia Tech in 2021 as a three-star receiver. After logging no touches in his first two seasons, his coaches wanted to test his athleticism in the backfield. Haynes immediately broke out as a dual-threat running back, logging over 1,000 rushing yards as a junior. His skill set as a pass-catcher translated, and he handled 20-plus receptions in each of the following three seasons, along with over 3,000 total yards from scrimmage.

Haynes is undersized and doesn't win like a traditional running back. He's content to dance and weave through traffic rather than seek contact. His pass-catching is effortless, and he can create separation with his routes and catch balls with ease. While Haynes doesn't have game-breaking speed, his shiftiness often helps him get behind defenses for big plays. Despite his small stature, he started every game over the last three seasons, proving durable. Haynes doesn't have the size or power to be a three-down back in the pros, but his skill set could work for a team seeking a dynamic pass-catcher.

Rundown

Haynes was a workhorse at Georgia Tech with a dual-threat skill set, but concerns about size, power, and long-speed could limit his pro workload.
