Jordan Cameron has been picking up some steam as a top tier tight end selection for the 2014 season. After Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski at the tight end position the field is wide open on who could join them in that first tier. Often times Jordan Cameron is in that second tier along with Julius Thomas and they are both on the verge of getting into that Graham and Gronkowski conversation among the top tight end tier. A big positive for Cameron to further increase his production from last year is the suspension of his teammate Josh Gordon. That alone makes Cameron the top receiving target on the Browns and he will be looked to heavily throughout the season. One might think that teams can now solely focus on blanketing Cameron because there is little threat outside of him in the passing game but Cameron has the ability to use his basketball athleticism to gain separation and to make the hard catches no matter the coverage. Last year was Cameron's third season in the league and he posted 80 receptions, 917 yards, and 7 touchdowns in 15 games.
Who to Buy
There are very little fantasy relevant options at the tight end position in Cleveland behind Jordan Cameron. Gary Barnidge and MarQueis Gray are two names that could fight it out for backup duties but both are not ideal options to catch many balls regardless if Cameron were to get injured. Instead of focusing on the Browns backup tight ends it might be more beneficial to look at a couple of wide receivers that could see more targets if there were to be an absent Cameron. Two guys that would spark the conversation would be Andrew Hawkins who the Browns paid some decent money to bring to town, and the other guy would be Charles Johnson who is gaining plenty of praise early in the offseason.
Who to Hold
No one would be really worth holding in the offense as there would be very few playmakers on offense. If you were stashing Johnny Manziel on your roster he could now be in play as a potential dual threat in the passing and running game. The intriguing part with Manziel is that he has potential to open up the offense and make defenses play on their heels a little bit more.
Who to Sell
The Browns running game would have to be considered to take the biggest hit if Cameron were to go down. Both Ben Tate and Terrance West are already headed for a camp battle and who ever does win the starting running back job might struggle to find space with defenses looking to focus on stopping the run due to the lose of Gordon and Cameron. The Browns running game would see plenty of opportunities and touches but that wouldn't guarantee a high volume of production. Whoever would be the starting running back at the time of a Cameron injury would be given a bump by the fantasy community and might be a good sell high opportunity. Brian Hoyer would also be worth selling for whatever you could get for him, and if he got off to a hot start some team might need a backup quarterback bye week coverage.
Who to Add
No Cleveland tight ends are worth adding after Cameron but maybe a Charles Johnson, Miles Austin, or Andrew Hawkins could see extra opportunities on the field. Johnny Manziel could also be in play as the Browns would be desperate to add any sort of spark to their offense. Manziel may not be given the chance right out of the gate and might have to be waiting if Brian Hoyer wins the job to enter the season. With an injury to Cameron the door would be wide open to get Manziel under center sooner rather than later.
Who to Drop
I think it would be safe to drop Brian Hoyer at this point, as the passing game would be really struggling to find any sort of production without any playmaker recievers to throw the ball to.
