Jagger May's Dynasty Tiers: Running Backs Jagger May Published 08/25/2024

It's almost time for the real games to count, and it's the last chance to get into a startup or trade players based on the knowledge the casuals only gain from seeing the box score.

Let's break down each running back tier and capitalize on last-minute tinkering. And after the tier listing, you'll see top running back options to target if you're rebuilding or trying to win in 2024.

Tier 1 Dynasty Rankings: Long-Term Elite

1. Bijan Robinson, Atlanta
2. Breece Hall, NY Jets
3. Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit

No surprises in the Top 3. These are premium assets that I'd trade for but have a hard time drafting them because of their justified cost. Moreover, two of these guys are in committees whether the dynasty community wants to believe it or not. Even a rebuilder is hanging on to these pieces without another elite player or high-value draft picks in return.

Tier 2 Dynasty Rankings: Short-Term Elite

4. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco

Christian McCaffrey is another in a tier of their own because he and Travis Kelce are incredibly unique because they could easily finish at the top of their position. However, there isn't a single reason you should roster them unless you're a surefire contender. It's somehow irresponsible to put a 28-year-old RB in a top dynasty tier and not consider him for it when there is clear elite upside.

Tier 3 Dynasty Rankings: Value Near-Elite

5. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis
6. Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville
7. De'Von Achane, Miami

As a known running back hater, the value of these three running backs is often too good to pass up. All of these RBs are being faded for narrative reasons despite there being plenty of evidence to suggest that they will still be productive RBs. Jonathan Taylor is one of the best rushers in the league, Travis Etienne Jr. is an explosive dual threat, and De'Von Achane may only get 12 touches a game but will score on 2 of them.
