Roundtable: NFL Combine Deep Sleepers

The NFL Draft has reached a significant milestone with the arrival of the 2024 NFL Combine. The skill position players test on Saturday, March 2nd. Footballguys staff comes together to answer a series of questions to prime you for the action ahead.

Who is one deeper sleeper you will be watching at the Combine?

RB Isaiah Davis, South Dakota St.

Christian Williams: Davis is one of my favorite running backs in the class, and I'll pay close attention to his workouts this week. He's an elusive player, but many question his long speed. He had positive in-game GPS readings, but a tremendous 40-yard-dash time would go a long way in determining his draft stock,

Chad Parsons: Davis is a Day 3 projection and the small school maven of the class. Davis has an elite rushing score in my model (92%) with a good enough receiving score (51%) to project a three-down role in the NFL. At 220 pounds from his all-star game weigh-in, Davis already has the size confirmation, but athleticism (in addition to size) is always more of a question mark for smaller school prospects than major conference options.

WR Jalen McMillan, Washington

Sam Wagman: I am interested in seeing how Jalen McMillan tests. He has been profiled as a solid deep threat during his college career, but he also has a solid route-running background, so this is a chance for him to prove that he can enter that Day 2 conversation.

RB Rasheen Ali, Marshall

Jason Wood: Rasheen Ali was dominant in 2021 and had draft evaluators buzzing, but 2022 was lost to a knee injury. The junior bounced back in 2023 and, once again, showed an every-down versatility that will serve him well in the NFL. In a flat running back class, if Ali tests well and looks good in agility drills, he could work his way into Day 2 consideration.

WR Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky

Kyle Bellefeuil: Malachi Corley from Western Kentucky is a small school wide receiver prospect who has my attention. Corley is electric with the ball in his hands, producing an impressive 180 catches for 2,279 yards and 22 touchdowns over his past two seasons. I'm eager to see Corley display his speed and athleticism in Indianapolis and potentially boost his stock along the way.
