Darren Waller, NY Giants

Jason Wood - Darren Waller was the Raiders' de-facto No. 1 receiver before the team added Davante Adams. But he was getting lost in the shuffle with Josh McDaniels and, fortunately, got traded to the Giants. Given New York's commitment to Daniel Jones, Waller has quarterback-certainty now and steps into an offense desperate for playmakers, particularly in the red zone. Waller should be the team's most targeted receiver, barring the emergence of a rookie wideout.

Gary Davenport - Yes, Darren Waller is 30 years old. Yes, Waller missed almost half of last season. And yes, Waller wasn’t the factor he once was for the Raiders offense last year, even when he was healthy. But Waller is now on a Giants team where he may well be the most dangerous pass-catcher on the roster, and he has shown in the past that when the targets were there, the production was as well. Waller has two seasons in which he tallied at least 100 targets. Waller surpassed 1,100 receiving yards in both seasons and finished second among all tight ends in PPR fantasy points. Those heights may be hard to attain again, but Waller’s value got a nice boost with his change in scenery.

Chad Parsons - Darren Waller had a math problem in Las Vegas with Davante Adams, a target hog, and Hunter Renfrow and Jakobi Meyers as fully capable receivers also competing for targets, all on an offense without an elite quarterback. Waller has a relatively open opportunity for the Giants sans an established WR1 and Daniel Jones coming off his best season. Waller has strong TE1 pathways in 2023 that were not present in Las Vegas.

Will Grant - Darren Waller should be a nice upgrade to the New York Giants offense and a welcome safety valve for Daniel Jones in a team that looks very thin on pass-catchers. It will be interesting to see how the Giants insert Waller into the run-heavy offense, but Waller's versatility and soft hands should fit in nicely. If he can stay healthy, he will be back in the top ten for fantasy tight ends.
