IDL and Edge Streaming Matchups, Week 12

Joseph Haggan's IDL and Edge Streaming Matchups, Week 12 Joseph Haggan Published 11/22/2023

The Week 11 article for IDL and Edge streaming matchups was a mixed bag of results. Azeez Ojulari put up a goose egg, though Casey Toohill came away with a sack. Jonathan Bullard laid down a dud, but Alim McNeill had a strong game with another sack. Our sleepers were the same. Keanu Benton had four tackles, and Von Miller was held out of the box score. With a few teams on a bye for Week 12, here are the top IDL and Edge streaming matchups.

IDL and Edge Streaming Options

Edge, Anfernee Jennings, New England Patriots

Matchup: New York Giants - Ranked 22nd in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

When any mention of Edge defenders was brought up for the Patriots this off-season, all eyes were on Josh Uche. Bill Belichick decided to be his normal hateful self towards IDP and throw a wrench in everyone's plans. Jennings seems to have finally stepped up his game and has earned the lion's share of snaps out of the Patriots Edge defenders. He has seen a massive 68% snap share and has played well.

Jennings has seven tackles in the Patriots Week 10 game before their Week 11 bye and has five or more tackles in five of the eight games he has played. Though he has not been explosive in the sack department, his matchup for Week 12 should provide ample opportunity. The Patriots take on the Giants, who have been abysmal in pass blocking. They have allowed a league-most 63 sacks. That is 12 more than the team with the second most. Fire Jennings up with confidence.

Edge, Andrew Van Ginkel, Miami Dolphins

Matchup: New York Jets - Ranked 29th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Van Ginkel is the Alex Anzalone of the Dolphins. He has luscious locks of blonde hair, and his play is solid, though unspectacular. Still, he plays well enough and sees enough volume to make him a streaming asset in a pinch. He has played 63% of the team's defensive snaps, mixing in both as an Edge defender and off-ball linebacker. This role has allowed him a decent tackle floor, recording at least five tackles in five of the 10 games he has played.

Van Ginkel also has four sacks on the season, just one-and-a-half shy of his career-high. The Dolphins square off with the Jets in Week 12. The Jets have allowed the third most sacks on the season with 40. Tim Boyle has the nod to start for the Jets, which could be better or worse for the team. Either way, it is a good week to stream Van Ginkel.

Edge, Ogbo Okoronkwo, Cleveland Browns

Matchup: Denver Broncos - Ranked 12th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Okoronkwo looked like he was about to have the opportunity of a lifetime when he signed with the Browns. He was about to line up across from one of the best, if not the best, Edge rushers in the NFL in Myles Garrett, giving him free rein to volume and plenty of one-on-one matchups. Then the Browns signed Za'Darius Smith, and the wind was taken out of that sail. Okoronkwo has still forced his way onto the field with plenty of volume and has been playing well.

He has seen a 57% snap share even with Smith on the team and has not disappointed. Eleven of his 24 tackles have come for a loss, and he has three-and-a-half sacks on the season. Okoronkwo just had his best game of the season in Week 11 with five tackles, four of which went for a loss, and a sack. The Browns play the Denver Broncos, who are tied for the sixth most sacks allowed on the season with 32. Okoronkwo is going to make Russell Wilson scramble.

IDL, Dante Stills, Arizona Cardinals

Matchup: Los Angeles Rams- Ranked 31st in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Stills has had quite an exceptional rookie season. He has 27 tackles over his last seven games, adding three-and-a-half sacks during that same span. Stills has even seen high-volume usage as a rookie interior defensive lineman, which is quite uncommon, especially for a sixth-round selection. He currently holds a 51% snap share, cementing himself as the team's top interior pass rusher.

His matchup against the Rams is not spectacular by any means. They have only allowed 22 sacks on the season, tied for third-fewest. Stills' performance makes him a nice plug-in or bye-week filler, though, and I would fire him up with confidence as an IDL2.

IDL, Kobie Turner, Los Angeles Rams

Matchup: Arizona Cardinals - Ranked 27th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

Sticking in the same game, let's take a look at Kobie Turner. He has 14 tackles and a sack over his last two games. His Week 10 performance was nothing short of amazing, with 10 tackles and a sack. Turner has been very consistent on the season, having produced no less than three tackles in a game since Week 3. Still, nobody is talking about him.

Turner faces off with the Cardinals. They have allowed the ninth most sacks in the league with 29. Turner will be his normal lane-clogging self on the less-than-explosive James Conner runs while providing some pass-rush upside against a poor pass-blocking unit.

IDL and Edge Sleeper Option

Edge, D.J. Johnson, Carolina Panthers

Matchup: Tennessee Titans - Ranked 32nd in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings

The Panthers have been searching for somebody to step up and be the top Edge rusher opposite of Brian Burns. Amare Barno has looked good in spurts, and D.J. Johnson has been mediocre but consistent. Both players have seen ample playing time. Johnson, as a rookie, has played 43% of the team's defensive snaps. He has three tackles in four straight games and added a pass defended in Week 11.

His matchup is what makes him a sleeper. The Titans have one of the league's worst offensive line units in the NFL. They have allowed the 5th most sacks in the league with 35, and their run-blocking has been leaky at best. Johnson has not been providing much pressure, but this is the best week to start.

Final Thoughts

For Week 12, I decided to list three streaming options for the Edge position and leave out an IDL sleeper. IDL sleepers are usually volume-tackle picks or boom-or-bust picks, and I saw three matchups that were worthy of streaming options. All of these options are likely either on your bench or even on waivers, but they could make a solid impact on this week's upcoming games. Good luck in Week 12. Thanks for reading, and Happy Thanksgiving!
