Here's a quick rundown of the top dynasty news that matters.
QB Jordan Love, Green Bay
Beat reporter Rob Demovsky has covered the Green Bay Packers for a long time. Beat reporters gain valuable insights that dynasty managers can glean. Demovsky reported last week that Green Bay is unsure if quarterback Jordan Love is the future passer of the team. We can see why there is uncertainty. Love has not played well in his first full season replacing Aaron Rodgers. Demovsky had a great quote from General Manager Brian Gutekunst, "I think he's done a lot of really good things. I really like the way he's responded to the adversity, and how he's led the team. Again, we've got to be better as a unit, and I expect that to happen over the next 10 games … I think we've got 10 games left. These are going to be very important 10 games." This does not sound like a personnel manager who believes in his quarterback. The Packers front office has done a great job digging out of the salary cap hole left by Rodgers and has built a good young nucleus. But it is now time to find the quarterback of the future … and Love does not appear to be that guy. He is a "sell" in dynasty leagues as we expect Green Bay to address the quarterback position in next year's NFL Draft. The irony is that Love's poor play this season gives the team a better draft pick opportunity to select his replacement.
QB Kirk Cousins, Minnesota
We have spilled much (virtual) ink on the future of Kirk Cousins. His dynasty value would take an obvious hit if he departed Minnesota. It was great to hear coach Kevin O'Connell tell reporters last week, "Kirk Cousins is going to be healthy again. I know he's going to be a free agent after this season, but Kirk knows how I feel about him, and that will be something that will hopefully work itself out." Ian Rapoport wrote Sunday morning, "When Kirk Cousins was lost for the rest of the 2023 season due to a torn Achilles on Oct. 29, it brought not only a crushing reality to the Vikings but also a question: Was this the end of their partnership? Perhaps not. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said this past Wednesday -- three days after Cousins' injury -- that ‘every option is still available with Kirk.' That includes a return to Minnesota to finish what Cousins, head coach Kevin O'Connell, and the rest of the organization have started … Cousins is a free agent after the season, as the two sides agreed for him to play out his most recent extension after earning $30 million this year. Cousins also has a no-trade clause and cannot be franchise-tagged." This gives us hope that the veteran passer and the team will work out a short-term deal, keeping him with the Vikings. It is the best solution for all parties. The Justin Jefferson fantasy managers sure hope Cousins stays in purple. The trade for Josh Dobbs is just a short-term fix for the long-term problem.
QB Daniel Jones, NY Giants
Just a few hours after Tyrod Taylor was placed on injured reserve, starting quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a serious knee injury in the lopsided loss to Las Vegas. It was later reported that he tore his right ACL, shelving Jones for the remainder of the season. He was replaced in the lineup by rookie Tommy DeVito, who has not played well in limited playing time this season. DeVito creates a large downgrade for the Giants receivers. The team also added veteran Matt Barkley when sending Tylor to injured reserve. Jones is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season with the injury. With a 2-7 record and a tough upcoming schedule, New York could have a high draft pick. The Giants are wedded to Jones for at least one more season after he signed a four-year, $160 million extension last March. The contract includes $82 million fully guaranteed and up to an extra $35 million available in incentives. The deal goes through the 2026 season but gives the team an option to opt out after the 2024 season. If so, the Giants would only have a $22 dead cap hit. New York is in a bad spot with little offensive talent outside of the aging Saquan Barkley and Darren Waller.
Since the 2010 season, only two teams have averaged less than 11.5 PPG through 9 games:

2023 Giants (HC Brian Daboll)
2018 Bills (OC Brian Daboll)
The Daboll-Jones marriage may have just one more season before one or more are pushed out. The front office might use the high draft pick on a quarterback this spring.
