Tampa Bay, Team Mood

  • Good - 13
  • Neutral - 3
  • Bad - 0

Staffers in a Good Mood

  • Chad Parsons: There is plenty of continuity with the key pieces back from 2021. An offense led by a yet-to-erode Tom Brady is always a quality start to an offense.
  • Jeff Bell: Still Tom Brady, and still plenty of talent.
  • Jordan McNamara: Bringing Tom Brady back automatically puts you on a good track.
  • Sam Wagman: They still have many pieces, the defense is mostly intact, and most importantly, Brady is back.
  • Kevin Coleman: While the team will miss Chris Godwin at the beginning of the season, they still have Tom Brady, who will lead a pass-friendly offense in 2022.
  • Jason Wood: Brady returned, and whatever tension between him and Arians is a thing of the past.
  • Dave Kluge: The team came up short in the playoffs last season but is looking for another deep playoff run in the twilight of Tom Brady's career.
  • Zareh Kantzabedian: All starting wide receivers and running backs tied to Tom Brady must be rostered.
  • Ben Cummins: Tom Brady easily could’ve been the MVP last season and returns to lead another top-ten offense.
  • Andy Hicks: Tom Brady remarkably still looks good and most of the offensive pieces return to take Tampa Bay on another playoff run.
  • Alfredo Brown: Any offense led by Brady should have a strong fantasy season.
  • Craig Lakins: Tom Brady somehow continues playing at an elite level and elevating the players around him.
  • Jeff Haseley: As long as Brady is on the field, the team is in good hands. Tom Brady makes good receivers great and great receivers elite.

Staffers in a Neutral Mood

  • Christian Williams: The absence of Godwin for the first part of the year combined with Gronkowski's retirement should ensure this is the worst supporting cast in the Brady era.
  • Adam Wilde: Asking 44-year-old Brady to figure it out without Godwin for part of a season, and Gronkowski for a full season isn’t the recipe for success; although it will probably still work.
  • Ryan Weisse: Brady will miss Gronk and won't have Godwin for a good part of the season. However, an offense with Brady, Evans, and Fournette will be just fine.

Reasons to be In on Mike Evans

  • Chad Parsons: Typically underrated, Evans is still in his prime window of production with a long track record of quality seasons.
  • Christian Williams: He should see an uptick in usage in 2022.
  • Jeff Bell: Evans should be in line for his biggest target share since 2016.
  • Jordan McNamara: Evans has WR1 in his range of outcomes in an offense without Antonio Brown, Gronkowski, and a rehabbing Godwin.
  • Sam Wagman: Evans could see his target volume spike to Jameis Winston-era levels when he was getting 160+ targets. Solid WR1 option.
  • Ryan Weisse: Evans has double-digit touchdowns and top-12 fantasy finishes each year with Brady while not crossing 115 targets. He might hit 150 this year.
  • Jason Wood: He’s among the most reliable stars of his era, and no Chris Godwin early in the season.
  • Dave Kluge: Evans will operate as the team's clear-cut WR1 with Chris Godwin sidelined early and a career season is easy to envision.
  • Ben Cummins: Evans could easily lead the league in touchdown catches.
  • Alfredo Brown: Evans will likely have a lot of volume coming his way with Godwin sidelined for a little while.
  • Craig Lakins: With Godwin set to miss time recovering from his ACL injury and Gronkowski's retirement, Evans should draw all the targets he can handle.
  • Jeff Haseley: Evans is a known commodity and is worth the value at his ADP but Russell Gage can be a great WR4 for your roster.

Reasons to be In on Rachaad White

  • Adam Wilde: White has an opportunity to have stand-alone value right away, with multiple avenues toward fantasy relevance if presented with the opportunity.
  • Kevin Coleman: White was productive in college and looks capable of working in the passing game. If Fournette misses anytime, White should be an RB2 candidate.
  • Ben Cummins: White is an awesome dual-threat late-round running back.

Reasons to be In on Leonard Fournette

  • Zareh Kantzabedian: Fournette was top three among running backs in routes run and targets per route, yet he isn’t even a first-round pick.
  • Ben Cummins: Fournette has the best role in all of fantasy.

Reasons to be In on Russell Gage

  • Ben Cummins: Gage will play a prominent role while Chris Godwin is out and will still be the WR3 when he returns.
  • Andy Hicks: Gage is coming off two solid seasons in Atlanta and should see plenty of single coverage with Chris Godwin likely to miss time.

Players We're Out On at Cost

Reasons to be Out on Cameron Brate

  • Chad Parsons: Tampa Bay could still make a move at the position and Brate should be behind a strong wide receiver corps (and Fournette) in the passing game.
  • Christian Williams: Replacing Gronkowski's production is a multi-player job, and Otton could emerge as an option to take some targets from Brate.
  • Adam Wilde: 15th-round Cameron Brate makes a ton of sense, whilst 10th-round Cameron Brate does not.
  • Jeff Bell: Brate saw 21 red-zone targets in 2021 and barely cracked the top 30 tight ends.
  • Kevin Coleman: Brate will get drafted too high this season based on Rob Gronkowski’s retirement.
  • Zareh Kantzabedian: The beneficiaries of Rob Gronkowski’s retirement will be Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans, and Russell Gage.
  • Ben Cummins: I’m not rushing to draft Cameron Brate as I see Rob Gronkowski unretiring at some point and/or Tampa Bay signing a free agent tight end.
  • Jeff Haseley: I'm not sure what tight end will emerge in Gronkowski's absence, but we have seen the most of what Brate can offer.

Reasons to be Out on Chris Godwin

  • Jordan McNamara: Drafting a wide receiver coming off a late-season torn ACL in the top 20 of the position is too high.
  • Sam Wagman: I am skeptical that we see Chris Godwin before the midway point of the season. He’s borderline undraftable at his late WR2 price tag.
  • Ryan Weisse: Godwin's ADP has not caught up to the fact that he is likely to miss the first six games.
  • Alfredo Brown: He may not be ready for Week 1; even if he is, he may not be fully up to speed. The addition of Gage makes volume harder to come by as well.
  • Craig Lakins: There's no reason to use a valuable 5th- or 6th-round pick on someone that may not be available until the middle of your fantasy season.

Reasons to be Out on Rachaad White

  • Dave Kluge: White is a great prospect, but he could struggle to get snaps as a rookie if he doesn't beef up his pass-blocking abilities.
  • Andy Hicks: White has to be in the learning phase, not playing. Whiffing on a pass rusher will not be tolerated.

Reasons to be Out on Russell Gage

  • Jason Wood: Gage couldn’t produce in a target hog role, he’ll be boom or bust at best this season.
