Kansas City, Team Mood
- Good - 12
- Neutral - 1
- Bad - 0
Staffers in a Good Mood
- Ben Cummins: The offense is led by Patrick Mahomes II. Enough said.
- Jason Wood: They're one of the league's best teams with no real holes precluding them from multiple runs at the Super Bowl in the next 3-5 years.
- Sam Wagman: This is obviously still one of the best offenses in the league.
- Justin Howe: It's not that losing Tyreek Hill doesn't matter - it's just that the Andy Reid-led Chiefs retooled nicely.
- Jeff Haseley: But I can see a scenario without Tyreek Hill where the offense could struggle. I'm not betting against Patrick Mahomes II to figure it out though.
- Christian Williams: But it's not unreasonable to believe in some regression from Patrick Mahomes II as the offense transitions to a more evenly-spread distribution strategy.
- Alfredo Brown: Patrick Mahomes II and Andy Reid are still running the offense.
- Jordan McNamara: Any time Patrick Mahomes II is your starting quarterback, you are on the right track.
- Chad Parsons: Any elite quarterback will lift an offense, even one with questions beyond Travis Kelce across the board.
- Andy Hicks: Despite the loss of Tyreek Hill, there is so much talent on hand. As long as Patrick Mahomes II and Andy Reid work well together, all is well.
- Craig Lakins: Things will look different without lightning-in-a-bottle Tyreek Hill, but as long as Patrick Mahomes II is still at the helm, this offense will function well.
- Jeff Bell: Patrick Mahomes II and Travis Kelce are a healthy environment to reap fantasy points.
Staffers in a Neutral Mood
- Ryan Weisse: Mahomes should be great, but the weapons are questionable outside of Travis Kelce.
Staffers in a Bad Mood
- None
Players We're In On at Cost
- Travis Kelce - 4
- JuJu Smith-Schuster - 3
- Ronald Jones II - 3
- Mostly Everyone - 2
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling - 2
- Mecole Hardman - 1
- Skyy Moore - 1
Reasons to be In on Travis Kelce
- Ben Cummins: Kelce has a chance to dominate the tight end position this season.
- Christian Williams: He should contend for overall TE1 in 2022 and may see an even larger share than he did in years prior.
- Ryan Weisse: Pay the premium and get Kansas City's best wide receiver at fantasy's worst position.
- Craig Lakins: This offense has always been designed to get Kelce and Tyreek Hill touches. With Hill out of the picture, Kelce easily projects as an elite fantasy tight end worth a high pick.
Reasons to be In on JuJu Smith-Schuster
- Jason Wood: His injuries in the last few seasons have driven his ADP down to a point where he's a lottery ticket as the potential alpha in a great offense.
- Chad Parsons: The historical framework for an offense with an elite quarterback has a strong probability of a WR1 for fantasy. Smith-Schuster is the odds-on favorite for the role.
- Andy Hicks: He has a high upside and is an excellent bargain at his current price.
Reasons to be In on Ronald Jones II
- Sam Wagman: Jones could emerge out of this ambiguous backfield to be the early-down back and is an interesting value.
- Jeff Haseley: There is a chance for him to earn significant playing time if he looks the part in the preseason. As an RB4 or RB5, he's a worthwhile gamble.
- Andy Hicks: He has a high upside and is an excellent bargain at his current price.
Reasons to be In on Almost Everyone
- Sam Wagman: You should be in on mostly everyone here. Mahomes makes players better.
- Alfredo Brown: Nearly every player is of value in this offense at the moment.
Reasons to be In on Marquez Valdes-Scantling
- Jordan McNamara: Mahomes holds the ball in a way Aaron Rodgers never did when Valdes-Scantling was in Green Bay, which could benefit Valdes-Scantling's vertical capabilities.
- Ben Cummins: Valdes-Scantling is a great mid-round pick in best ball and still a solid selection in redraft as well.
Reasons to be In on Mecole Hardman
- Justin Howe: Hardman may never reach his ceiling, but his teammates' ADPs are soaring. He's become the most value-laden way into this offense.
Reasons to be In on Skyy Moore
- Jeff Bell: Rookie receivers have made immediate impacts, and he is the only option who has not disappointed in fantasy in recent history.
Players We're Out On at Cost
- Clyde Edwards-Helaire - 4
- Skyy Moore - 2
- No One - 2
- Ronald Jones II - 1
- JuJu Smith-Schuster - 1
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling - 1
- Patrick Mahomes II - 1
- Travis Kelce - 1
Reasons to be Out on Clyde Edwards-Helaire
- Ben Cummins: Ronald Jones II is a better rusher, and Jerick McKinnon is a better receiver.
- Sam Wagman: I can see arguments to draft Edwards-Helaire, but his workhorse role is clearly gone. At RB29, there are some better options.
- Jeff Haseley: Both Damien Williams and Darrel Williams have outplayed him. Who's next? His opportunity to be the lead back is dwindling fast.
- Jeff Bell: The team added multiple players who could threaten his role after he fell short of RB2 status in 2021.
Reasons to be Out on Skyy Moore
- Jason Wood: The depth chart is deep and veteran-laden. I don't see Moore as draftable in 12-team redraft leagues.
- Chad Parsons: Expectations are high for the rookie, who fell in the draft (many had Moore in Round 1) plus probably behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to start.
Reasons to be Out on No One
- Jordan McNamara: I do not think anyone is overvalued at the moment.
- Craig Lakins: Every member of the offense is worth taking a shot at their current ADP as someone who could ascend in this offense.
Reasons to be Out on Ronald Jones II
- Justin Howe: I'm letting others take the plunge on the underwhelming Jones, who doesn't have a great path to 1,000 yards even in this offense.
Reasons to be Out on JuJu Smith-Schuster
- Christian Williams: Wideouts in this offense may eat into each other more than ever before, and Smith-Schuster hasn't displayed a skill set that meshes perfectly with Mahomes.
Reasons to be Out on Marquez Valdes-Scantling
- Alfredo Brown: The only player that I’m out on at an ADP of WR44.
Reasons to be Out on Patrick Mahomes II
- Ryan Weisse: Since we're considering cost, I would never draft a quarterback as high as needed to land Mahomes. With the team's unknowns this year, that becomes even riskier.
Reasons to be Out on Travis Kelce
- Andy Hicks: Kelce has the highest ADP, and the departure of Tyreek Hill may focus opposing defenses onto the soon-to-be 33-year-old future Hall of Famer.
